Chapter 20
The werewolf race had a loosely organized group, with only a few individuals able to keep up with their leader.
While their physical abilities were indeed formidable, their endurance varied, and not many could maintain full speed after running for such a long time.
Furthermore, the werewolf race lacked strong obedience, and their leader was only concerned about himself. As a result, the entire race of werewolves was scattered evenly and widely across the running track.
They were practically everywhere.
Seeing Chloe paying no attention to him, the werewolf leader became visibly infuriated and raised his middle finger towards her.
Just as he smugly thought about retracting his middle finger, a dark figure suddenly appeared in front of him and delivered a powerful punch to his face.
It was Anderson.
Even Chloe hadn't noticed when he had dashed forward. His speed was astonishing, like a ghost. His punches were clean and precise, and he quickly returned to the formation after striking.
Taking advantage of the werewolf leader's bewildered state, Chloe smirked and quickened her pace, charging ahead.
The entire vampire formation quickly followed suit.
Soon, a large group of people surged past the werewolf leader and sprinted forward at high speed.
After resting for a while, these young vampires had adapted well.
Yavi, who was at the back, also raised his hand and gestured with his middle finger as he passed the werewolf leader, taunting him.
The werewolf leader stood still, staring dumbfoundedly at the vampire formation moving away. His nose and eyes were swollen from the punch, and he couldn't react at all.
When he finally came to his senses, he immediately started cursing loudly.
Unfortunately, by that time, Chloe had already led the group to the front, and she couldn't hear the werewolf leader's insults at all.
Gradually, the different races started to widen the gap.
The vampire and human formations lined up neatly at the forefront, while the werewolf and elf formations were loose and lagged behind, clearly visible.
Chloe tilted her head and looked at the human leader who was almost beside her.
He didn't even blink and focused intently on the front, as if he hadn't noticed Chloe's gaze at all.
The two of them didn't speak, each leading their respective groups and sprinting forward.
This was the final stretch. Chloe and the human leader crossed the finish line side by side.
Ren Yunying held a stopwatch in her hand and pressed the buttons one by one, recording their finishing times.
Finally crossing the finish line, the vampire youngsters all collapsed onto the ground, looking half-dead and exhausted.
While running, they had relied solely on their determination to charge forward and had willingly followed Chloe. Now that they had relaxed, their backs ached, their legs felt weak, and their heads were heavy. Disregarding their previous decorum, they simply collapsed on the ground.
Yavi was no exception. He fell to the ground and used his fingers to drag himself slowly towards Chloe.
Chloe quickly put her hand down and pretended to chat enthusiastically with Anderson.
After about ten minutes, all the members of the Werewolf Race and the Elf Race reached the finish line.
The werewolves looked at their leader who was still running on the track with confusion, unable to understand the situation.
Didn't their leader finish running a long time ago? Why did he go back to the track?
Ren Yunying couldn't be bothered to explain to them.
After allowing them to rest for five minutes, she blew the whistle, and everyone quickly stood up and lined up neatly.
Ren Yunying looked at them with her hands behind her back, her face serious. "Guess how long the fastest among you took?"
Everyone looked at each other, not saying a word.
Their gaze vaguely focused on the two leaders at the front.
Chloe, the vampire, and Qin Huaibei, a member of the Human Race.
Ren Yunying raised an eyebrow and menacingly flicked her whip to the ground, creating a thunderous sound:
"Well, cat got your tongue? Can't anyone speak?"
The crowd started to mumble and guess incoherently.
Some said twenty-four minutes, some said twenty-three minutes, and there were even those who lied blatantly, claiming ten minutes.
The one who claimed ten minutes was Yavi.
Ren Yunying warned him with a glance and then said sternly, "None of you are correct!"
The entire venue fell silent.
"Thirty minutes, a full thirty minutes." Ren Yunying's expression turned serious as her gaze fell upon the three individuals at the front. "It took a whole five minutes longer than I expected. This performance can only be described as extremely disappointing!"
Chloe licked her fangs but remained silent.
Out of the corner of her eye, she noticed Qin Huaibei lowering his gaze, appearing quite desolate.
Could it be that he was blaming himself?
Chloe's expression became complicated.
Ren Yunying continued to reprimand, expressing her disbelief and disappointment in their performance, claiming it to be the worst she had witnessed during her time as their instructor.
Chloe let her words go in one ear and out the other, not paying the slightest attention.
Finally, Ren Yunying ended with a statement:
"Starting from now, whenever you can complete a five-kilometer run within twenty-three minutes, that's when you'll be allowed to stay in the dormitory and eat in the cafeteria."
