"But the truth is, the Ancestor Lord told me that if Little Miss and I were more than half a meter apart two seconds after he gave the order, he would twist my head off and use it as a football."
Chloe: "..."
What the hell.
She looked up suspiciously, "Did Xavier really say that?"
"Of course," Kewen spread his hands helplessly, "In fact, I don't want to be an annoying pest following Little Miss around all day either. Wouldn't it be nicer to hide in the shadows, drinking and picking up girls every day?"
Chloe's expression turned stern: "I knew you weren't up to anything good, sneaking around all the time."
"Hey, that's not fair," Kewen counted his achievements on his fingers, "You should know, I once drank three whole bottles of alcohol, went on a drunken rampage, and accidentally hit the Ancestor Lord."
"The Ancestor Lord nearly beat me to death that time. I learned my lesson after that. No matter how much I drink now, I can still distinguish who's an enemy I need to deal with. Don't worry, Little Miss, with me around, you'll never be in any danger."
Hearing this, Chloe nodded:
"You're right. After all, the one who needs to watch out for accidents now is you."
As she finished speaking, Chloe lowered her head and bit Kewen's arm hard.
"Ahhh!!!"
Accompanied by Kewen's agonized scream, Chloe jumped out of his arms with a blank expression.
"You've been holding me up by my collar and bragging for several minutes now. If I hadn't bitten you, I would have been strangled to death."
"Dear Mr. Kewen, you truly are a role model for our generation."
With that, Chloe turned and left with her companions.
Seeing that the distance between himself and Little Miss was about to exceed half a meter, Kewen immediately disregarded the wound on his arm, wiping away tears as he hurried to catch up with Chloe.
Not long after leaving the general's tent, Chloe saw the general in the military camp.
He was heading to Xavier's tent, seemingly about to confess his crimes.
Of course, that was assuming the general truly believed he had done something wrong.
Chloe immediately darted into Xavier's tent, burrowing straight into Xavier's arms, then looked down at the man who had been confined for several days.
During this time, the general showed no signs of fatigue. On the contrary, he looked radiant, and his beer belly had grown considerably larger.
Chloe sized up the general, and the general likewise observed them surreptitiously.
At this moment, Chloe felt a large hand land on top of her head, followed by Xavier's deep voice:
"Have you figured out how to explain yourself to me?"
Hearing this, the general wiped the sweat from his brow and said helplessly:
"Yes, One-eye's injury was indeed sustained while covering for his comrades."
"I remember clearly, he lost his eye while covering for me."
"If One-eye hadn't provided cover, we would have had great difficulty winning that battle."
As the surrounding discussion grew louder, Blake's eyes turned red:
"Nonsense, you're all talking nonsense!"
"You've all conspired to frame me! I've never done any of these things!"
"Bastards! You're all bastards!"
Blake's curses grew increasingly vehement and vulgar.
As soon as these foul words started, Xavier covered Chloe's ears, frowning as he warned:
"Shut up, Blake."
"If you say one more word like that, I'll cut out your tongue immediately."
Upon hearing this, Blake instantly froze.
After quieting down, his throat moved slightly.
Just then, the curtain of the tent was lifted by someone.
Chloe looked over and saw that the newcomer was none other than Blake's trusted aide.
The frail soldier was carrying a cup of tea, slowly approaching Xavier. He then raised the cup above his head:
"King, please have some tea."
The tea was still steaming, its water clean and clear.
Xavier glanced at it and raised his hand to take the cup.
However, before he could grasp it, Chloe suddenly knocked the cup over.
Most of the tea spilled on the ground, leaving only a small amount.
This action immediately caused a stir.
Xavier frowned and rebuked in a low voice, "Chloe."
Chloe paid no attention. She jumped out of Xavier's embrace and handed the cup with the remaining tea to Blake, her voice tinged with amusement:
"Mr. Blake has said so much, he must be quite thirsty."
"How about you drink this cup of tea?"
