The next day, the sun lit every corner of B University. The weather was hot but the enthusiasm for learning was not diminished.
Lu Jia’er returned to the office after class. She had just put down the things in her hand, pulled out a chair, and sat down when Li Lin came over. “Jia’er, has the department director talked to you yet?”
“About what?” Lu Jia’er looked up at Li Lin.
“You will be an advisor for graduate students starting during the second half of the year!” Li Lin said.
“Professor Han has mentioned this matter, but it has not been confirmed yet. What about you?” Lu Jia’er said.
“It has already been determined, and I will be an adviser for three graduate students!” Li Lin said, leaning against the desk with hands resting on the separation board besides her.
Li Lin and Lu Jia’er were both young professors at B University. However, Li Lin came two years earlier than Lu Jia’er and would be an advisor in the second half of the year, which meant recognition of her teaching quality.
“Congratulations!” Lu Jia’er said to Li Lin.
“It deserves no congratulation. It is tiring to be a graduate advisor. You will also have to deal with this!” Li Lin smiled.
“There should be a few years before I will be a graduate advisor. I will have a few years of ease ahead!”
“Don’t ever think about it. You are a member of the academic committee. Professor Han will definitely recommend you!” Li Lin said.
“It’s not very likely, but I must congratulate you again. Don’t forget to treat me to dinner!” Lu Jia’er said.
“A treat is no problem, I am afraid that you will not come even if an invitation is sent!” Li Lin smiled.
Lu Jia’er was rendered speechless. She participated infrequently in the gatherings for professors, but it did not mean that she did not participate at all. For this reason, many said behind her back that she was arrogant, unsociable and eccentric; which she did not care, but Professor Han helped explain it several times.
“Give me the address for the dinner!” Lu Jia’er could only smile slightly.
Li Lin was surprised. Lu Jia’er usually refused to attend any dinner. Even Professor Han’s invitation might not work.
“Are you in love recently?” Li Lin glanced at Lu Jia’er and guessed.
“Is it so obvious?” Lu Jia’er asked straightforward.
As Li Lin heard the reply, Li Lin’s eyes gleamed with astonishment. Previously she saw that she was not interested in men for a long time. For some time, she thought that she had a different sexual orientation. But as she got along with her over a long period of time, she thought it might be due to personality, seeing that she was indifferent to most people.
“I should congratulate you on your love!” Li Lin said.
“Finally, I have proved that I am not a lesbian!”
Lu Jia’er smiled and joked.
“It was a mistake. Please don’t mind!” Li Lin was embarrassed.
“I will answer the phone first!” Just as the two chatted happily, the phone on the desk rang, and Lu Jia’er took it.
“You can go ahead with your work, I will send you the address for the dinner later!” Li Lin said.
Lu Jia’er picked up the phone and nodded at Li Lin. “Professor Han, Okay, I will come soon!”
“Professor Han told me to go over!” After receiving the call, Lu Jia’er stood up and said to Li Lin, who had already returned to her seat.
“Go!” Li Lin smiled at Lu Jia’er.
When Lu Jia’er turned and walked to the door, Li Lin’s inner overlapping sound was heard in the ear, and she could not help but frown. Although it cannot be said that the relationship between people is based on pure interests, many still can’t get rid of egoism.
