Xu Lei voiced his thoughts slowly. “I heard that some writers would take risks to collect information about their subject matter, and even break the law to gain experience.”
However, Xu Lei was clearly following the wrong train of thoughts. Lu Jia’er knew the true reason. Nevertheless, she could not possibly tell the truth to Xu Lei.
So, Lu Jia’er denied this assumption. “Su Han is not like that. She always observes disciplines and obeys laws. She is a good girl!”
Since Lu Jia’er had said so, Xu Lei had to quit this speculation. “I am only making assumptions here. Professor Lu, do not let them bother you!”
“I won’t mind it. But, Deputy Xu, are you curious about this case?” Lu Jia’er asked.
“Even if I am right now, there is no way I can intervene!” Xu Lei sighed.
“Deputy Xu, as long as you are interested and want to investigate further, I can provide you with some clues!” Lu Jia’er proposed.
Hearing this, that eagle-eyes of Xu Lei’s shone in radiance. “Professor Lu, you have clues?”
“Yes, I learned something in the States. But before I can tell you, I need to know if the MSS has located Su Han.” Lu Jia’er put forward her condition.
Xu Lei was hesitating. A few seconds later, he replied, “When they took over the case, they hadn’t located her yet. But it’s been over 10 hours. I don’t know about the situation now.”
Lu Jia’er made her decision with this information. She made it clear, “Deputy Xu, MSS has been involved. You cannot investigate this on the record. On the other hand, if you look into the case privately, you may be put into a negative position and even have to face some dangers!”
“Professor Lu, I am a police officer now. But whether it was the old me, or the new me, I don’t fear death, let alone danger!” Xu Lei claimed.
Lu Jia’er felt touched by Xu Lei’s words. Him deciding to help her must, to some extent, be about her. He had a crush on her, but he had hidden that affection. Upon learning Su Han was kidnapped, the first thing jumped to his mind was Lu Jia’er’s safety.
It was a blessing to be liked by someone. Unfortunately, that affection was one-sided. Already committed to her boyfriend, Lu Jia’er would not respond to Deputy Xu’s affection.
Lu Jia’er could only express her gratitude verbally for the touching words, “Deputy Xu, thank you. I will send you the clues I know later!”
“Good!” Xu Lei said.
“Deputy Xu, thanks!” Lu Jia’er thanked him again.
“Professor Lu, don’t be a stranger!” Xu Lei replied.
After their conversation ended, Lu Jia’er exported Colin’s picture from her memory vault and projected the picture via her eyes. Then, she imported the picture into the album on the phone to send the picture to Xu Lei.
This entire process was very sci-fi like. After Lu Jia’er understood the experiment of memory recovery through genetic means, not only had her found back her memory, she had been updated. Her eyes were no longer the organs for her to see but could also function as a camera and projector.
Lu Jia’er looked at herself in the mirror. In the mirror, her eyes returned to normal slowly, from that blue color. Her glowing eyes looked nothing unusual.
However, during the past few days, not only had she a more complete understanding of the strength of AI functions, she had increasingly more questions as well.
She was a human and at the same time, a machine!
How long could her life last like this?
Had she gained consciousness completely?
Had she really been free from her creators?
Then again, who was her creator?
All those questions flashed past her mind. Her pretty face was clouded. Slowly, Lu Jia’er closed her eyes.
