Chapter 014 - She has a very conflicting personality. (1)

How long does it take a new person to blend into a group of strangers?

That answer varies depending on the individual. There is something called “ice breakers” when it comes to introducing someone to a group. Nevertheless, no ice breakers are as efficient as what Chu Qianli had done. It only took the duration of lunch for her to get to know the girls in class and became the center of discussions.

Looking at the chatty girls, He Shichen couldn’t quite make out how he was feeling at the moment and he needed to spend more time in studying Chu Qianli.

Interpersonal skills are an important measure and, the fact that Chu Qianli, who grew up in an entirely different background than the others in their class, was able to befriend the others in such a short time meant that she was no ordinary person.

The bell signifying the beginning of the next class rang and the girls finally returned to their own seats. Tan Muxing, picking up the textbooks for the next session, were both impressed and slightly disappointed. “You can carry on a conversation with anyone in class. That is so amazing.”

It took Chu Qianli all one afternoon to blend in with the others but Tan Muxing had been invisible for the past two years. He felt insignificant when compared to her and that his deskmate was in no shortage of friends and, as such, would quickly take back what she said about being friends with him.

“That’s amazing?” Chu Qianli walked out of the classroom with him. They need to switch classrooms for the afternoon class.

“Yes. Very much like a transfer student described in a manga. They walked in exuding the aura of a protagonist and were even drawn differently than the other characters.” Tan Muxing smiled bitterly and said, “I am probably an extra who doesn’t even get a face and am very ordinary in every respect.”

Tan Muxing wanted to become an outstanding individual like He Shichen or someone with special abilities like Chu Qianli. Yet he was ordinary looking without specific strengths in any area. Nobody in class paid any attention to him and, occasionally, the others would tease him about his size and hobbies.

There were many individuals that sparkled in this world but he had no light of his own. Even he, himself, had came to accept that.

Chu Qianli pondered a little before she raised her brows relaxingly and reminded him, “Wake up and smell the roses. Your family must not be ordinary at all. You would not be attending this school otherwise. Don’t you try to redefine ‘ordinary’.”

The tuition of this private high school was hefty and no ordinary family could afford it.

Tan Muxing recalled the environment that she grew up in and quickly stopped with his self-deprecation. He scratched his face awkwardly and said, “Oh, now that you put it that way. I guess you are right.”

The two went over to the chemistry classroom and got ready for their next class. Chu Qianli now understood the reason for switching classrooms. The classes that afternoon was taught purely in English. Even their teachers were all foreigners.

As Chu Qianli had always studied astrology, her English was pretty good. But, even so, she was still very lost in the classes.

The reasons were simple. These syllabuses were so starry* difficult and they were much more advanced than where she was back in the village.

These definitely exceeded the ability of a human to comprehend!

Chu Qianli had at least finished her schooling in her previous life yet she couldn’t follow in these classes at all. The use and disuse theory applied here and her progress was slow.

As they had switched classroom in the afternoon, Chu Qianli was not able to nap like she did in the morning. The teacher asked questions in order and, looking at the question displayed on the screen, she shook her head helplessly, “Sorry.” (T/N: “Sorry” was said in English.)

Everybody else had responded to their questions perfectly except when it came to Chu Qianli. As such, she had attracted a lot of attention.

He Shichen frowned.

1. The use of “starry” here was neither a typo nor a literal translation. Our MC purposefully use “starry” here instead of “g*dd**n”. There will be significance later on so I kept it that way.
