Chapter 045 - Fate (3)
Chu Qianli corrected her, “In your eyes, their questions are all trivial matters when, in fact, they are very important to the inquirers and they urgently want to find answers.”
Qi Yan might feel that divinations on relationships or the outcome of a gaming competition were silly but, to some of the inquirers, those were what were troubling them the most.
Some people would only live an insipid life and would only have insipid questions. That was not something that they need to be ashamed of.
The air turned silent after Chu Qianli had finished talking.
Qi Yan, seeing how serious Chu Qianli looked when she talked, pondered over what she had said for a few seconds and gave her a smile. She agreed with her tenderly, “Hmmm. You are right.”
Qi Yan’s response shocked Tan Muxing greatly. He greatly felt that the number one stupid of their grade was a very flexible person and that she couldn’t be more obvious in trying win over Chu Qianli.
He Shichen, too, was speechless from the way his competitor pandered to his sister. Crumbling, he said, “Qi Yan, can you just act normal?!”
Qi Yan, chin resting on her palm, ignored He Shichen. She turned to Chu Qianli and chuckled. “He Shichen isn’t half bad but probably a tad worse than me. I think you can it some thought. I just might outperform him in the future.”
Chu Qianli looked unsettled. “Such is the confidence from a strong female lead novel. Love it. Love it…….”
Hearing Qi Yan’s shameless words, He Shichen’s blood pressure shot up instantly. He said in disbelief, “What did you just say?”
Qi Yan raised her brows without backing down. “Was what I said not the truth? I don’t think the person whose overall score was 2 points below me should be talking.”
He Shichen took a deep breath, gritted his teeth, and said, “Why didn’t you mention the times when I scored higher than you?”
Qi Yan, “I only look at the present. I cannot be bothered by the past.”
He Shichen, “Then we should be looking at our overall rank, instead of the two points!”
He Shichen and Qi Yan got into a squabble over their grades bizarrely and started mocking each other’s overall rank among their peers. Their battle continued to escalate.
Chu Qianli quickly took the opportunity to run off with Tan Muxing. She said in a low voice, “Big Brother, you two get this sorted out. We be on our way and I will see you at the car……”
After Chu Qianli and Tan Muxing had successfully escaped outside of the class building, Chu Qianli couldn't help but lamented, “Oh boy, oh boy. How is that my brother is so competitive?”
He Shichen was indeed someone who grew up in a networking family. He hasn’t even joined the workforce yet and were already competitive. Right now he was competing with his grades.
Tan Muxing grumbled softly, “I find Qi Yan scarier. She suffers seriously from grandiose delusion (chūnibyō).”
Chu Qianli sighed. “She is surely one with strong luck, right from her first appearance.”
Tan Muxing was baffled, “One with strong luck?”
Chu Qianli, “Yeah, some astrologists believe that there are good and bad star charts. Good star charts belong to the one we traditionally think of as successful and lucky individuals. Similar to nobles and royalties in history. One way or another, they will become successful……”
Qi Yan was the original female lead of the novel. Chu Qianli didn’t need to look at her star chart to know that she was no ordinary person.
“Star charts aside, you can look at it from a different point of view.” Chu Qianli elaborated, “People will react differently to circumstances. Some people’s personalities made it that much easier for them to become successful in their careers.”
Those around Chu Qianli reacted differently toward her ability in astrology. Tan Muxing was accepting; He Shichen was skeptical; Qiu Qingkong wanted to learn from her; Qi Yan wanted to win her over…… as their personalities were different, the outcome would also be different.
Tan Muxing was curious. “So what she said was true then. She has a lot to offer?”
If Chu Qianli had said that Qi Yan was a lucky one, then she would for sure become a very successful person. It was very likely that she wasn’t lying when she said she could offer Chu Qianli with money, power, and status.
Chu Qianli went silent for a few seconds. She lowered her eyes and replied honestly, “Even though everyone loved money and power, myself included, but those are not what are most important to me, at least not right now.”
Chu Qianli would be lying if she said she did not care about money and power. Who would turn down living a life of luxury?
Nevertheless, she had a more urgent assignment right now. One that she had been waiting around for the opportunity to make it happen.
She had been performing readings on the same question since she was a child and, until she had a definitive answer, going after anything else would just be pointless.
Standing in the sports field in dusk, the setting sun casted its golden red light onto Chu Qianli and covered her up in thick, dark shadow.
The sky looked like there were fires burning in it. Golden lights broke through the clouds. The stars would be welcomed after the unpredictable redness of the setting sun.
The brightness of the setting sun suddenly stung Tan Muxing’s eyes. He noticed Chu Qianli’s silence and seemed to have captured something vague. Finally, he feigned a cheerful tone and asked, “Didn’t you say you are the number one astrology on earth? What else could possibly stump you?”
He had no idea what was on her mind.
But he could tell that she was troubled. All he could do was to change the subject gently.
Chu Qianli loved praises. Tan Muxing wanted to use that to cheer her up but it didn’t work this time.
“Some things can. Even if I am the best astrologist in the world, there are still higher existence out there.”
“Oh, what is it?”
“Fate.”
