Chapter 064 - “You need your surplus value wringed out of you for you to learn of your own value.” (3)
Even when bothered by certain things in mind, Tan Muxing was still very peaceful. “Had I not been born into a rich family, then I would probably just be a useless person. Nothing stands out about me either inside or out. I enjoyed making clothes but, even so, I don’t reach the level of a designer. In reality, I am just an ordinary person with limited talent……”
Interesting stories with twists and turns are always left for geniuses and heroes. He knew full well that he was just an ordinary person.
“My strength is what I like the least.” Tan Muxing looked down on his open palm. He slowly balled it into a fist and smiled helplessly. “And also something that is worthless to others. Even warfare nowadays is all about informatics. Physical strength is truth worthless.”
Tan Muxing disliked violence nor would his family allowed him to become a ground soldier. Nor could he become an athlete because of his odd physique.
He would never need to worry about money in his lifetime and, at the same time, he fully understood his own worthlessly. His only option was to make peace with that.
Sometimes too many good things in life could make one unambitious and drag one into a tender whirlpool and one could do nothing but stay there. That was the hardest thing to overcome. Tan Muxing would possess the materialistic life that was an envy of most everyone but, his entire time, he was be lost in his spiritual world and not be able to find his self-worth.
He wouldn’t even be able to share that thought with anyone else as others would merely think that he was gloating and wonder why he wasn’t happy with everything that he already had.
Others would say to him: You are already standing at the destination that others strive for, why are you still unhappy?
It was like someone saying “I am sad” and all the get in return was a “yeah, right.”
This was a situation common situation in astrology. Those whose star charts are too different will never be able to understand each other. They can’t understand that each individual has their own ways of releasing their energy and believe that their set of logic can apply to all.
Each person’s life problem is also different and each has their own unique challenges. Nobody should just another casually.
Even for divinators, they would always emphasize after a reading that they were merely “offering the suggestions but the decision lies with the inquirer.” Even when they can see into the future, it is not a divinator’s job to make the decisions for the inquirers. It was their own lives.
A divinator guides; they don’t not try to control others.
Chu Qianli fell silent after she heard what her deskmate had said. She had always known that her deskmate had his own thoughts but it was the first time that he stated them clearly.
Tan Muxing rarely talked about himself. He always talked about subject that interested others and would rarely share his true feelings.
“Am I boring you?” Seeing that Chu Qianli was quiet, Tan Muxing smiled and said, “Okay, let’s not talk about this anymore. Let’s head back to our classroom.”
“No, I am not bored.” Chu Qianli shook her head slowly. “I am just thinking about how to word my thoughts.”
Chu Qianli pondered for a little while then, pulling a deck of tarot cards from the pocket of her school uniform, she handed the card on the very top to Tan Muxing.
Tan Muxing took it from her reflexively. Looking at the Fool card, he asked curiously, “What is it?”
On the card, the fool was happily marching forward at the edge of a cliff, having no idea of the danger in front of himself.
Chu Qianli went on to explain. “This is the Fool card. He had no idea where he came from nor did he know where he was heading. But he always lived in the moment and felt that life was full of fun and joy.
“This card is both the beginning and the end of the tarot deck. Some say that the fool was chaotic and selfless. You just said you are worthless, right? But the fool was not really a fool. He had nothing still and that represented endless possibilities.” Chu Qianli smiled and said, “I am giving this card to you.
“0 represents having nothing and knowing nothing, but it also represents the beginning of a grand journey.”
The fool started his journey freely. It didn’t matter that the others told him about the danger that he was about to face, he would continue his journey confidently.
Tan Muxing looked at the Fool card and, sure enough, saw the number “0” and the pure white rose that he was holding in his hand. It was identical to the open and bright smile that she just had on her.
Tan Muxing was speechless all of a sudden and was unable to describe his feeling at this moment in time.
She was different than the others. He had always felt that way.
And her difference did not stem from her ability in astrology but something that could reach the deepest part of one’s soul like bright lights in the deep of thoughts.
That was the reason why Tan Muxing, while not believing in numerology, chose to believe in her and her words.
Feeling lightened all of a sudden, Tan Muxing had been touched by her unfettered ways. He put away the Fool card solemnly and said lightly, “Thank you. I will treasure it.”
His worries had disappeared and his burden was gone inexplicably. Just like the naïve fool, he started to anticipate his adventure ahead of him.
Seeing that Tan Muxing’s mood had greatly improved, she reached out her palm to him righteously and said, “You need to give something in return when you accept someone else’s gift.”
The unexpectedness of the request stunned Tan Muxing, “Huh?”
Chu Qianli looked discontented. “You aren’t just going to take my card like that, are you? The Fool card is very important. I can’t use this deck of card anymore.”
Tan Muxing panicked. “But I don’t have anything on me right now?”
Chu Qianli cocked her head and said, “Then knit me a scarf? Oh, wait. Make me a pair of gloves. It happens that I will need to show my hands when I make the video. Make me a pretty pair of gloves that I can use for my video.”
Tan Muxing quickly corrected her crazy idea. “I have never made clothes for people before. That is not the same as all……”
Tan Muxing had made clothing for dolls before but never made gloves for a person. They were two entirely different areas.
Chu Qianli waved her hands casually, “Oh, that’s is your problem. You go and figure that out yourself.”
Tan Muxing, “?”
Chu Qianli smiled and said, “Didn’t you say you are worthless? The way I see it you are like a freshly-graduated college student. You will need to have your value exploited by others before you will come to your senses.
“You must have your surplus value exploited before you will realize that you are a useful person!”
Tan Muxing, “……”
