"Thank you...! I'm starting to feel better."
"But with her speed, we can’t land any hits! I could shoot a ton of arrows, but they wouldn’t do any damage...!"
"Yes, but there’s something I want to try!"
"Do you have a secret technique...!?"
"I don’t know if it’ll work. But since we were talking about Inglis... I remembered something she said about how Dragon Roar and mana strengthen each other when mixed!"
"Oh, you mean that dragon sorcery Glis has been obsessed with lately? Dragon Roar comes from dragons, and mana comes from our Artifacts...!"
"Exactly! Nothing happened when I tried it before coming here, but now...!"
It was a flimsy theory, but it was the only option left for Leone. With nothing else to rely on, she had no choice but to attempt it.
"You’ve stopped, I see!"
Tiffany continued her relentless assault, darting through the narrow corridor with high-speed movements, her golden armor gleaming ominously. Leone shifted her strategy, halting her rapid blade extensions and bracing herself into a defensive posture.
"Rafinha! Create a distraction and unleash as many arrows as you can!"
"Got it!"
Rafinha drew back her bow, releasing a flurry of light arrows. The luminous projectiles scattered in all directions, filling the air with glowing trails. Some found their mark, striking Tiffany, but they merely glanced off her golden armor, leaving no visible effect.
Her speed faltered slightly, but it wasn’t nearly enough to stop her.
“Here I go, too!”
Leone focused all her energy on her black greatsword, summoning phantom dragons. As many as she could muster, as powerful as she could make them. The translucent dragons roared to life, weaving through the air as they converged toward Tiffany.
The phantom dragons were infused with Dragon Roar through Leone's black greatsword Artifact.
Inglis had once explained that dragon-slaying weapons carry the power of dragons—but in truth, the power in Leone's sword had been imbued from the meat she cut from the massive tail of a dragon Inglis had defeated. It wasn’t a glamorous or noble way to acquire such strength.
Since the power resided in the weapon itself and not Leone, she couldn’t wield it with complete freedom. She could only make slight adjustments to the number and trajectory of the dragons she summoned, relying on her own movements to synchronize with them.
"I see, so that’s how it works..." Tiffany remarked calmly.
Even as she dodged the dragons with practiced ease, Tiffany didn’t appear flustered. On the contrary, a sly grin spread across her face as she glanced toward Leone.
"But...!"
"Ah!" Leone gasped.
Tiffany’s movements and the pursuit of the Black Iron Dragons had inadvertently created a direct line of sight between her and Leone. By maneuvering carefully, Tiffany had orchestrated this opening, ensuring nothing obstructed her path to her target.
"Now!"
With a powerful push off the ground, Tiffany dashed straight toward Leone. Her speed and precision made her intent clear—she planned to launch a decisive attack on Leone, the one controlling the Black Iron Dragons.
"Leone!" Rafinha quickly released a light arrow in an attempt to halt Tiffany’s charge. However, she hadn’t gathered enough power to condense the arrow into its full strength, resulting in several smaller, ordinary light arrows.
"That's pointless...!" Tiffany scoffed. It was clear, even to her, that such weak arrows would have no effect on her armor. Unfazed, she continued her charge forward without hesitation.
"We’ll see about that!" As Rafinha spoke, the light arrows abruptly changed trajectory. Just before reaching Tiffany, they bent sharply downward, striking the ground instead of their intended target.
It seemed like a futile move at first—until—
"Ah—!?"
Tiffany suddenly stumbled, thrown off balance, and fell forward onto the ground. It was an uncharacteristic mistake for someone of her speed and precision. Normally, such an occurrence would be unthinkable. However, Rafinha's arrow had pierced the floor just in front of Tiffany, disrupting her footing and causing her to lose balance.
"Yes...!"
Rafinha’s plan had worked. She had deliberately weakened her arrows to appear harmless, tricking Tiffany into ignoring them. This allowed her to aim for a critical spot: the ground at Tiffany’s feet. The moment Tiffany stepped on the destabilized surface, she tripped, creating the perfect opening.
"You sneaky little trickster! How dare you—!" Tiffany snarled, her face twisted with frustration.
“That’s for underestimating the sidekick’s sidekick!” Rafinha stuck her tongue out at Tiffany, a defiant smirk on her face.
And just then— The black iron dragons, still under Leone’s control, struck Tiffany head-on.
Rafinha’s clever move had created the opening Leone needed. Tiffany’s fury was evident, but there was no denying that the "sidekick of the sidekick" had outplayed her, even if only for a moment.
