Chapter 214 - Rescue Arc (11): The Twins

Name:The Idol's Wife Author:Tea_Tae
Secretary Lee quickly reached the spot KJ had text him about. The latter requested him to bring in some of their best men who were experts in infiltration. Accompanying him were two such men: Jang Kihyun and Jang Soohyuk.

They were renowned for their thieving ways and broke into highly secured buildings in the past. Their heists were infamous, yet they evaded the police due to their secret: both of them were twins.

To the world, they were one person. Jang Soohyuk adopted his brother's name on paper, eliminating all proof of his own existence. Whenever the police closed in on one of them, the other twin would pretend to be his brother and place himself elsewhere to make an alibi. Since the police never had any evidence, they were always let go.

Secretary Lee caught their act a long time ago but he was impressed by their skills so he recruited them for their company. When KJ's text came in, he immediately thought of them.

He led the twins towards KJ's hideout where KJ personally met up with them.

"How good are they in breaking into a secured zone?" KJ asked.

"Give us any building and we'll show you," Kihyun smirked.

"We know the map of Korea by heart," Soohyuk chipped in. "The train lines, sewer routes, road maps. Everything. There isn't a single loophole we can't find."

"The building belongs to a member of the Cartel," KJ stated. "It will be dangerous."

"That doesn't scare us, boss," Soohyuk scoffed. "Just show us the building."

KJ took out a blueprint and some photos of the asylum.

"This was previously an asylum," KJ said. "Now it's used by Ziko as his personal torture chamber. He locked up two of my people in there, both are detectives. We suspect they might be at-"

"The underground bunker," Kihyun finished for him.

"Which is two storey beneath the main building," Soohyuk added.

KJ stared at them. The underground bunker was not in the blueprint.

"How did you-"

"There's a third storey," Kihyun said, drawing three floors beneath the building. "You see, during the Korean War, these bunkers were very common. Civilians and rebels used these bunkers and tunnels to escape or hide."

He drew a tunnel from the third floor. "This one here, connects with an abandoned train route situated from six kilometers south."

KJ looked at them in awe while Secretary Lee smiled.

"How do you guys know all this?" KJ asked.

"When you're raised on the streets, you catch on to a lot of things," Soohyuk shrugged. "Your wife and her team infiltrated through the sewers here."

He marked a point in the print. "But her only way out is through this part," he added, marking the third floor.

"And it's our job to lead them through there," Kihyun stated.

KJ was about to confirm it when his phone rang up. He glanced at it to see an unknown number.

"Hello?"

"Long time no see, Keon Jiwon."

KJ froze. He had not heard that voice in fifteen years. Yet, it felt as if time had not elapsed at all. It was him. Ziko.

"You," KJ whispered.

"Ahh, you remember," Ziko said gleefully. "I thought you forgot your old friend."

"What do you want?"

"You," Ziko replied. "I want you. Come over to the location I texted you. Alone."

"And why would I go there?" KJ sneered.

"Because if you don't, then you can say goodbye to Song Dasom," Ziko threatened. "Forever."

He hung up the call. KJ's hands were shaking as he lowered the phone from his ears.

"What happened, Master Jiwon?" Secretary Lee asked. KJ looked at him, his eyes fearful of what he had just heard.

"He's got Dasom," he replied.

….

Mirae was stationed on the second floor. Ziko had ordered her team to guard the doctor while Hyun Jung's team was still struggling to get through the chute.

She checked her watch. It was 7:30 PM and they had wasted a lot of time already. Songil was stuck by Ziko's side and they were no closer in getting to the three hostages.

Furthermore, her men were scattered to different places, mixed with the real guards. They would have to fight their way out if necessary. She herself was with two of Ziko's guards while Riggs was downstairs.

Suddenly, there was a sound coming from the trash room.

"Hey you!" one of the guards barked at the other one. "Go and check!"

The second guard obliged and scurried off, leaving Mirae alone with the other guard.

The guard was well built and on alert. Mirae studied his movements.

"What the hell are you looking at?" he glared at her. Mirae quickly shook her head.

"Why are you not answering me?" he questioned. He stepped closer to her.

Mirae did not budge. If she opened her mouth, her cover would be busted since the facility only hired male guards. The guard was observing her intently and reached out to grab her.

"Hey-"

Thud! A quick blow to his head silenced him. Hyun Jung appeared, muffling his mouth from behind.

"Take him away," he ordered his men. They quietly pulled him away from sight.

"What took you so long?" Mirae whispered.

"The trash chute was narrower than we thought," he replied. "When we came out, a guard almost found us, but we handled him as well."

"Ziko is here," Mirae informed him. "He's downstairs inside the security room. But he still did not realize the footages are fake."

"And the hostages?"

"Underground, but bringing them out will be impossible."

"Still, we'll have to try," Hyun Jung said. He turned to his men. "Serials one to eight, stay here with her. The rest follow me to the bunker."

The men nodded. Eight of them stayed with Mirae while the rest followed Hyun Jung downstairs.

"There are six other guards on this floor," she whispered. "Serials one to five, find them and immobilize them."

She watched as the five men set off to their work.

"Well well, what do we have here?"

She turned around to see Dojoon standing at the doorway.

"Men of Abyss caught in our-"

Mirae did not wait for him to finish and kicked him hard. Shocked, the doctor stumbled onto the floor. Before he could scream, Mirae's men pounced on him, shutting his mouth.

Mirae quickly grabbed a valium vapor from the cabinet and forced Dojoon to inhale it. Immediately, the doctor's eyes became blank and vacant as he fell unconscious.

"Tie up his hands and hide him into that closet there," she ordered, pointing towards a large, wooden closet at a corner.

"Yes," one of the men nodded. He grabbed a white cloth and tied up the doctor's hands and legs. They stuffed his mouth with wads of cottons and with great effort, shoved him into the closet.

By the time they were done, the other five men joined them.

"The guards on this floor have been immobilized," one of them informed her.

"Good," Mirae replied. "This floor is secured. Now we can-"

But her words were drowned by heavy footsteps. Mirae and her men scrambled out just in time to see Ziko rushing past them. He was heading for the roof.

"One to eight, follow me," she whispered. "The rest of you try to immobilize more of the guards."

They quickly separated to do their respective tasks. Mirae and her team followed Ziko. They reached the roof.

A large helicopter hovered above them as it made its way to the helipad. Frowning at its sudden arrival, they watched as it landed right in front of them. Before Mirae could wonder what was going on, three men came out of it, dragging another person. The man's face was covered with a sack.

The men forced the new hostage on his knees. Ziko inched closer.

"You're finally in our grasp," he said softly, grabbing the sack and unveiling the person's face.

Mirae held down a gasp as she saw who it was. KJ.
