Chapter 4: Chapter 4 Pet Beast Profile_1
When someone holds a Contract Card, they can establish a special connection with the card. Simply put, the cardholder gains the ability to channel their psychic energy into the Black Card.
This is the key to capturing a Pet Beast!
There are three steps to contracting a Pet Beast.
First, hold the Contract Card.
Second, identify the target, reinforce your impression of it, and channel your strong desire to contract it into the card.
Third, bring the Contract Card close to the target creature.
When the Contract Card, carrying the psychic energy of the Beast Trainer, gets close to the target creature, it will attempt to capture it.
Successful capture means the contract is complete.
"Uh-huh—"
At the moment, Lu Ran completed these three steps with ease. Under the shroud of white light, Mr. Husky seemed to feel Lu Ran's unique aura within the light and did not resist.
Amidst its bewildered cries, it, enveloped by the white light, vanished from the spot, as if it turned into a beam of light, absorbed by the Black Card.
It was at that moment that Lu Ran's brain thundered, and he felt an incredibly comfortable warmth throughout his body. The mental exhaustion from channeling psychic energy moments ago had all recovered in an instant!
What's more, he felt an even closer connection between himself, the Contract Card, and Mr. Husky.
"Magical." Lu Ran's pupils traced a streak of light, and with a thought, the fallen Contract Card vanished instantly, reappearing in his hand as if teleported.
He had not possessed such an ability just moments ago.
It was not until the contract was completed that he and the Contract Card were fully bound.
Moreover, at this time, the appearance of the Contract Black Card had also changed somewhat.
On one side, at the upper part, the image of Husky had appeared, directly replacing the previous solid black.
This was obviously Mr. Husky...
Below the image, there was a pile of white text providing an introduction.
Species: Arctic Dog
Attribute: Unawakened
Species Level: Medium Extraordinary
Growth Level: Level 1
Skills: None
While Mr. Husky was eating, Lu Ran first weighed himself, then measured his height, and finally, went to his room to grab a one-handed sword and swing it around, feeling it much more comfortable in hand.
Lu Ran's family were actually quite well-off.
His parents were renowned zoologists.
Their favorable family circumstances not only fostered Lu Ran's interest in various animals but also enabled him to have numerous other hobbies.
Like most teenagers, Lu Ran was interested in knives, swords, and firearms, and his parents fully supported his diverse interests. Hence, when he was younger, he was sent to a renowned Sword Path Arena to learn swordsmanship and even accompanied his father to Hawaii during vacations to learn shooting.
These interests, which seemed irrelevant before, were now somewhat useful. He was about to be teleported to the "Trial Secret Realm", and perhaps, he could bring a weapon for self-defense.
In the past, although Mr. Husky was fierce, Lu Ran, armed with a weapon, was confident he could easily subdue it.
But now, he could vaguely sense that after the contract enhancement, Mr. Husky's combat ability must have surpassed that of an "ordinary dog," with strength comparable to that of lions and tigers, classifying it as an extraordinary dog breed.
By comparison, although he also received some enhancements, the extent was not as significant as that of his pet beast. The main new ability he gained was a stronger control over Mr. Husky.
In such a situation, having a handy weapon for self-protection became very important. After all, he couldn't rely completely on his pet beast, but he was unsure if weapons could be teleported along with them.
"And this... I should bring it along as well," Lu Ran put down his custom-ordered Iron-Chopping Sword, opened the drawer, and took out a trinket.
It was a pendant, featuring a white, broken deer antler, hung on a string, looking quite aged.
It was said to be a family heirloom amulet passed down for generations in Lu Ran's mother's family. As an item left by his mother, Lu Ran clearly regarded it as a form of emotional support at the moment.
Thinking of his parents, Lu Ran felt a surge of sadness again. Both had died overseas while investigating an unclassified precious beast, and their bodies had never been found, leaving behind only the heartbreaking recordings of their cries as they were torn apart...
Lu Ran never believed that his parents were just gone. He always wanted to personally go to that rainforest to search for them. When Fang Lan heard Lu Ran express interest in hunting, he thought Lu Ran was considering heading off into the wilderness again, but as Lu Ran had said, if he were really going to such a dangerous place, how could he possibly make do with just a doggo like Mr. Husky as a hunting dog? Wouldn't it be simply handing over his life? Wouldn't it be better to use his wealth to hire a specialized team?
But now...
With the deer antler pendant in place, and the Iron-Chopping Sword in hand, Lu Ran returned to the living room. Mr. Husky had already finished a bowl of food and was now lazily lying on the floor...
Seeing Lu Ran come out, it glanced at him, then got up, panting with a grin on its face.
"Woof!!"
Lu Ran had a bemused expression.
Because the dog was indicating that it enjoyed the meal and was asking if it could have another round!
It seemed... it wanted to become even stronger.
"You're really greedy, huh? There's no more, but up ahead, you'll have plenty of fights," Lu Ran said.
"If you can defeat your opponents and return safely, maybe you could become even stronger."
"Woof?" Mr. Husky appeared puzzled, then put on a sharp expression, took a few steps, and put on the sunglasses beneath the coffee table, oozing with domineering presence.
