Chapter 25 – Just Friends
Luo Bei was dumbfounded at Jiang Sihan’s actions. Before she could ask anything, he had already returned to his room downstairs.
Grandma Luo had gone to bed early and just woke up to use the restroom. When she saw her granddaughter standing in the living room, she asked, “What’s wrong?”
Luo Bei took out the food containers, four in total. They were all quite heavy.
The smaller one had bird’s nest soup.
The other three big ones had lobster, seasoned mantis shrimp and abalone. Grandma Luo looked at the seafood laid out on the table and was shocked. She quickly asked, “Where did you get these from?”
“Xiao Jiang brought them over. He said he packed them up from a dinner party today.”
Luo Bei couldn’t help but laughed once the thought settled in her head. It was probably because he was a little embarrassed having been given food several times but he didn’t have much money at the moment. So as a culturally and financially lacking young man, after eating this seafood feast, he wanted to pack some delicious food for them.
Seasoned mantis shrimps weren’t cheap these days, let alone lobsters and abalones.
In any case, it was Jiang Sihan’s sincere intentions. Luo Bei wouldn’t think anything of these leftovers. On the contrary, she took two spoons from the kitchen, wanting to share the bird’s nest soup with Grandma.
Grandma Luo didn’t drink, obviously. She earnestly wished to leave all the good things for her granddaughter, “Xiao Jiang’s a pretty good child. Honest, too.”
Jiang Sihan didn’t elaborate much just now, but Luo Bei could infer that he was invited to the dinner party. So he definitely wasn’t the one who paid the bill. For someone to pack leftovers when they weren’t the ones paying the bill, it must’ve taken some courage.
This behavior might be inappropriate to some, but Luo Bei knew that it was because Jiang Sihan really wanted to repay Grandma’s and her generosity that he would pack these seafood he considered very good and expensive. She didn’t want to let him down so even if she was on a diet, she picked up her chopsticks and enjoyed this delicious midnight snack with Grandma.
Luo Bei also took pictures. She had added almost every tenant in the building to her WeChat, including Jiang Sihan. She sent them to him, adding, “Thank you. My Grandma said she had never eaten such a big lobster, it’s all thanks to you.
Jiang Sihan hadn’t gone to sleep then so he quickly returned the message, “As long as you enjoyed them.”
“Xiao Jiang’s not bad. He’s handsome and nice.” Grandma Luo looked at her granddaughter and added, “But he doesn’t have a stable job…”
Luo Bei had put down her chopsticks and was about to go brush her teeth. She was tickled hearing this, “We’re just friends, don’t think weird things.”
“I quite like Xiao Jiang. He looks better than Zhan Qi.” Grandma Luo followed her into the bathroom. “It’s fine if he doesn’t have a stable job, he can just tag along with me to collect rent in the future. There are some matters that are more appropriate for men to handle anyway.”
Luo Bei wouldn’t hesitate in front of Grandma, she blurted out immediately, “Don’t even think about it. That guy will be a superstar in the future. I’m already benefiting from association by being friends with him.”
“Superstar?” Grandma Luo looked at her doubtfully.
“I was just saying. He does music and will be working in that field in the future. Maybe he’ll become famous one day.” Luo Bei added, “If he makes it, there will definitely be people digging out his past, including his girlfriend and ex-girlfriend, or whatever. There are some scary fans out there. Point is, I’m fine just being friends with him and nothing else.”
Luo Bei’s words sounded like nonsense, but she was telling the truth.
Now that she knew Jiang SIhan would be a superstar film emperor in the future, then she was fine with being only an acquaintance to him. She couldn’t even imagine being a superstar’s ex-girlfriend or current girlfriend.
Although currying favor with him did occur to her, Luo Bei had never thought of going further with him.
Of course, the most important thing was that she didn’t have any feelings towards him and him her.
Grandma Luo heard this and didn’t continue with the topic. She understood her granddaughter’s personality. While Luo Bei sounded like she was afraid of attracting trouble, she was actually disinterested and had no feelings towards him. Otherwise, even if she had to face tens of thousands of fangirls, she would still pounce regardless.
