Chapter 61: Back to work!
Feeling depressed, Di Tou crumpled into his recently made bed.
"AHHHHH! Di Tou, Di Tou, I never knew you were such a spendthrift! What happened to saving all your money? What happened to saving for a house! When did you start throwing money in the garbage?"
Of course, luckily Di Tou wasn't aware of the value of the Superior grade spirit stones. Seeing that Mu Di Bai had a couple of boxes of them he hadn't considered them anything special, but if he knew that just one of them could purchase a bottle of pills that could directly leapfrog him through the Body Tempering and Qi Condensing realms...
Hehe.
Of course, that was only speaking in terms of value. If Di Tou really tried to make such a purchase, he'd find that the pills would have no effect on his attributes. Further, for things like pills that boosted one's cultivation, was there really such a good thing in the world?
If there was, how could it be that all those young masters and prodigies that Fu Hao Xin had been feeling despondent about weren't Golden Core cultivators from birth? There was a reason they only used natural treasures.
The fact of matter was that anyone who wasn't at a bottleneck would avoid using pills as a method for cultivation. There were two reasons for this.
First pills were at the end of the day only supplements, they couldn't compare to the foundation one could set if they cultivated on their own, so what self respecting prodigy would do this to themselves? After all the first set of cultivation was purely for building a body more suited for cultivation. If you started with a weak foundation, it only made sense that the resulting accumulation would also be shaky.
Second, the process of cultivation was in and of itself a form of accumulation. You can think of it like doing math. Even if you think it's simple, addition and multiplication have to be learned properly before one attempts calculus and trigonometry. If you skipped these basic elements, once you arrived at the difficult questions and equations you'd have to waste a lot of time going back and revising anyways, so why not learn it properly while you're there. n/(OVElbIn
Trying to think happy thoughts and cheer himself up, Di Tou thought about the other startling notification in his [Reflection] this time.
The [Spiritual Guidance] that had helped him cap out both [Dexterity] and [Spirituality].
Fu Hao Xin seemed to be his lucky star. Every time he met the youth he'd succeed with a high level [Spiritual Guidance] and make quite a gain.
Trying to figure out the numbers in his head as to how much he had gained from Fu Hao Xin this time and the related numbers, Di Tou eventually gave up, there were too many unknowns this time, but it seemed like he had gained over 6 attributes from this one event...
If this could be reproduced over and over, how great would that be...
After lying in bed and sulking for awhile, Di Tou got up. F*ck it, if he wasted it he wasted it. No use crying over split milk.
With a clear mind, Di Tou...
Went and made the bed again. F*ck, he had already made it messy, so he might as well gain some extra attribute points from it right?
With the experience of the previous two tries, he was much faster this time and didn't aim to do the process as thoroughly, simply aiming for a below-average result.
Having finished making the bed, Di Tou looked at his work and nodded with a sense of satisfaction. Indeed, he had already gotten much better. Surly his pace of cultivation would only increase and not decrease.
With this mindset in mind Di Tou decided to continue his productive streak.
Stepping outside he went to go sweep some leaves. After all, up to date that seemed to be the most effective task he had found so far.
After spending about half an hour sweeping the yard, and realizing he could lift the chairs now, although not without difficulty, Di Tou had filled another bag...
It seemed like he was out of bags...
Scratching the back of his head, Di Tou decided to take a visit to the disposal center on Fu Street. Hoisting two of the bags over his shoulder and leaving the other two there for a moment, Di Tou set off...
Only to realize he had no f*cking clue where Fu street was.
Looking around on the street, Di Tou saw a few passersby and wanted to go ask if they could point the way... Only for the first five people he approached to give him a side eye before rushing away.
F*ck, you could beat a man but you couldn't shame him, ah!
Just because he was old and was a janitor didn't mean you could avoid basic decency!
After wandering around for another five minutes or so, Di Tou finally ran into a young man who reluctantly pointed the way while holding his nose and giving Di Tou a nasty look every other sentence.
Thanking the youth, Di Tou started heading towards Fu street, which he found wasn't that far from the food street from the day before, only about three blocks away.
As he approached Fu street, he started noticing a wretched smell.
Crinkling his nose and hesitating for a moment, Di Tou sighed before deciding to just brave it. At the end of the day he was a janitor, it wasn't like he could just avoid it right?
Stepping into Fu street, Di Tou imminently saw the trash disposal center, as it was a large building with several bins around it that had two large chimneys protruding from the top that were currently billowing out a greenish black plumes of smoke.
Approaching the building, the smell got worse and worse until Di Tou had to stop for a moment to take a breather...
Only to realize the longer he took a breather the worse the smell got.
"F*ck me." Gritting his teeth, Di Tou braced himself and walked the rest of the way to the building in one charge, only to find that...
