1238 Side Story 17: Don’t Come Again in the Future
In the lecture hall of the multi-purpose complex.
There were still a few minutes before class started, but the classroom was almost full.
This class was a foreign language class, which was a public class. Ph.D. students from various specializations attended this class together, so there were about 100 people in the class.
However, the number of students in the classroom had clearly far exceeded this number.
Boys made up the majority.
Their gazes were all directed at the girl sitting in the last row of the classroom.
She was wearing a long white dress with a few red camellia petals embroidered on the hem of the dress. It was as if the leaves and flowers were being blown by the wind and they were floating on her skirt.
Her waist-long hair was soft and black, and the ends of her hair were slightly curled. When she walked, it seemed to look like an attractive arc.
The skin on her palm-sized face was fair and clear. Her eyebrows were delicate, her nose bridge was high, and her chin was sharp.
Her pair of round, dark, almond-shaped eyes, long, thick, and curly eyelashes were especially captivating. If anyone were to look over at her, her eyes seemed to be like a clear pool of dazzling stars in the sky.
Because of her presence, the entire classroom was quieter than usual.
In the silence, there was a surge of young impatience and tension.
Some people were born to be the focus of attention, just like her.
Even just by sitting there quietly, she exuded an invisible aura that made people’s hearts beat faster.
She was beautiful, clean, and regal.
The girls in the Academy of Fine Arts were famous for their beauty, but she was even more so.
On the first day of school, she had already been privately selected as the new campus belle.
No one would have thought that the school belle would actually be interested in physics and liked to sit in on the Ph.D. level classes.
Perhaps it was because she was so beautiful and exuded an air of nobility from head to toe. Thus, although there were many people who liked her, there were very few who actually dared to pursue her.
However, this still did not stop a large number of boys from coming.
She was such a beautiful girl that it was good to take a second look!
…
Gu Tingyin sat at the end of the last row. She took out a thick book from her bag and placed it on the table. She also held a pen in her hand.
She had long been accustomed to the looks that were directed at her and did not take them to heart.
At this moment, there was only one thing on her mind- he wouldn’t be absent from today’s class, would he?
Sigh.
She lazily rested her chin on her hand and sighed.
Shen Zhijin was an influential figure at Xijing University, so it had not been difficult to find out his class schedule.
However–
Who would have known that he would always skip class?
From Monday to Thursday, she would come all the way from the Xijing Academy of Fine Arts to this place. She had waited here several times, but she had failed to see him every single time.
Not even his shadow could be seen!
Just then, a slightly nervous and eager male voice came from the side.
“Classmate?”
She turned around.
…
“Zhijin, this must be the first class you’re attending this semester, right? Professor Li’s jaw will probably drop when he sees it. ”
Xu Zhe and Shen Zhijin walked side by side toward the classroom.
“Tsk, I guess the students in the class have the same reaction.”
Many people knew that Shen Zhijin was meant to be attending this class, but even more people knew that he would usually not attend it.
Prodigies always had special privileges.
Even Xu Zhe, who was close to him, thought he was hallucinating when he had seen him take off his lab coat and say that he was going to class.
Shen Zhijin’s expression was indifferent.
Xu Zhe lowered his voice and teased, “But it’s a good thing that you decided to come here at the last minute. Otherwise, there wouldn’t be any space left in our classroom.”
There were too many girls who had a crush on Shen Zhijin at Xijing University.
Usually, the classes he attended would be very lively.
Most of them were girls who would come to see him.
He had only been 14 years old when he first got into Xijing University. It had not been obvious at that time, but in his final year at Xijing University, he had truly been worthy of being called the school hunk. His name was all over the confession wall.
Not to mention that his return this year had caused quite a stir in the school.
This was another very important reason why Shen Zhijin was unwilling to go to class.
He only seemed to be interested in physics.
If it were any other boy, they would at least be happy and enjoy being pursued like this.
But Shen Zhijin was different.
He was truly not interested.
...
Xu Zhe had once seen the belle of the Foreign Language Department personally approach Shen Zhijin to confess her admiration to him. In the end, Shen Zhijin had only said one sentence with a calm expression.
“I’m sorry, I’m in a hurry.”
He had also chosen to say it halfway through her confession.
Xu Zhe watched as the department belle’s face turned from red to pale. In the end, she had turned around and run away as she held back her tears.
This scene had left a deep psychological shadow in Xu Zhe’s heart.
That was because Shen Zhijin had been in a hurry to go to the laboratory to read up on some literature.
As the two of them conversed, they arrived at the front door of the classroom.
The moment Shen Zhijin stepped into the classroom, the entire classroom fell silent. The air seemed to have frozen.
The expressions on everyone’s faces were particularly interesting.
“F*ck! Are my eyes playing tricks on me? Am I actually seeing Shen Zhijin come to class?”
“I’m one of the people who are seeing things! I’m seeing it too!”
...
“What day is it today? Is the prodigy lowering his status like this?”
Xu Zhe tutted.
“I told you, if you came, they’d definitely– Hey, what are you looking at?”
Xu Zhe followed Shen Zhijin’s line of sight and saw that the girl who always came to the class was here again.
He was overjoyed and elbowed Shen Zhijin.
“See that? That one, isn’t she beautiful? Wow, I’m early enough, yet how come someone else got here first?”
A tall and thin boy was standing beside the girl, looking reserved and shy.
As long as one was not blind, one could tell what he was up to.
Shen Zhijin walked forward.
Xu Zhe was stunned.
“Hey, Zhijin, there’s still a seat in front. Wait for me!”
…
“Student, is there anyone sitting next to you?”
Gu Tingyin turned around. When the boy saw her face, he became even more nervous.
In the past few days, she had been sitting in the corner of the last row.
At first, when everyone asked, she always said that there was someone beside her.
However, after a few times, not a single person had sat there.
This was obviously an excuse.
Gu Tingyin returned an apologetic smile.
“I’m sorry, there’s someone beside me.”
The boy was determined to pursue her this time, so he said, “Hey, it’s almost time for class. Your friend isn’t here yet. Is he not coming?”
Gu Tingyin was at a loss for words.
Based on her previous experiences, it seemed like he really would not come.
But–
Suddenly, her eyes lit up and she waved at the figure behind the boy.
“Classmate!”
Perhaps it was because she did not try to hide the happiness in her voice, but everyone looked over.
When they realized that the person she was calling out to was Shen Zhijin, everyone immediately looked even more interested.
Shen Zhijin stopped in his tracks and looked over with a calm expression.
Gu Tingyin quickly said, “I helped you reserve a seat! Hurry up and come!”
As she spoke, she smiled at the tall, thin boy who was already stunned.
“My friend is here!”
The boy looked at Shen Zhijin in disbelief. He had never expected that the person she was talking about was… this person?!
Looking at each other for a moment, for some reason, he felt guilty.
It was really not good to provoke this great god!
He quickly retreated.
“I’m sorry, I’m sorry! I didn’t know it was you–”
He paused for a moment and did not know how to continue.
Shen Zhijin did not move.
Gu Tingyin quickly blinked at him again.
He finally walked over and sat down beside her.
Gu Tingyin’s wildly beating heart calmed down a little and she shot him a quick glance.
The young man’s side profile was clear, elegant, yet distant.
Very good. Her heart beat even faster.
Although the two of them had walked side by side in school for nearly an hour, it still felt very different to sit together like this.
The space seemed to have suddenly been compressed, and she felt as if something was pressing down on her heart. It felt heavy, but it also seemed to have grown wings and felt extremely light.
The entire classroom was dead silent. Then, everyone looked at each other and finally understood.
Oh, so this girl was here to pursue Shen Zhijin.
Xu Zhe sat down in the front row of the aisle with a blank expression. He looked back and back again, almost thinking that he was dreaming.
Oh, so Shen Zhijin had suddenly come to class because of this girl.
…
Gu Tingyin was very happy.
She had waited so many times, and the day she had been waiting for had finally come!
“Hey, what brings you here today?”
She asked in a low voice.
Shen Zhijin paused.
“This class is on the schedule.”
Oh.
Gu Tingyin suddenly felt that her question was very strange.
That’s right! What’s so strange about him attending his own class?
However–
“Then why didn’t you attend your previous classes?”
Shen Zhijin finally looked at her. His eyes were calm and clear.
“How do you know I didn’t come?”
“Of course it’s because in every class I–”
Gu Tingyin’s voice stopped abruptly.
When she put it that way, it doesn’t seem too appropriate…
Meeting his gaze, her face inexplicably heated up, and she was the first to look away.
“No, what I meant was… I wanted to thank you!”
“Thank me?”
“Yeah! Didn’t you take me on a tour of the school previously?”
Gu Tingyin coughed lightly and tried to glorify what had happened that day.
Shen Zhijin probably had not expected her to say something like that and he was momentarily speechless.
After a moment of silence, Gu Tingyin decided to change the topic.
“By the way, I still don’t know your name! You’ve done me such a big favor, I want to thank you properly–”
She even knew what class he attended, so how could she not know his name?
“Please don’t come again.”
A cold and distant voice interrupted her.
Gu Tingyin was stunned and muttered, “What?”
Shen Zhijin’s gaze fell on the “Popular Astronomy” book on her desk and he said calmly, “I said, don’t come again.”
