Chapter 48.3
Continuation of Flashback/demon Lu Li’s Memory>>>>>>
“Do you want to go out to get some fresh air?”
Xie Jianwei’s heart trembled upon hearing the sweet low voice.
He couldn’t remember whether he agreed or not, but they were already standing on the balcony when he came back to his senses.
The Heavenly Realm was still bright at night, and as far as the eye could see were large, gorgeous, towering white buildings. They’re shrouded with holy light, emitting a shimmering glow, twinkling like stars in the bright night.
Xie Jianwei took a deep breath and said, “Thank you for the trouble, Your Highness1. I’m fine now .”
Lifael looked at him sideways, his voice soft and soothing, “I never knew what kind of person I would like.”
His voice was like the elegant sound of a harp playing sacred music that could make a listener’s ears to tingle and the sea of clouds in front of them to tremble gently. Xie Jianwei didn’t dare to look at him, as he also didn’t know what to say.
Lifael smiled, “But upon seeing you, I now know”
Xie Jianwei’s heart skipped a beat, and his hand gripping the railing turned slightly white.
Lifael put his hot palm to the back of Xie Jianwei’s palm. He looked at him earnestly and asked tenderly, “Can you please let me love you?”
Xie Jianwei didn’t know how he answered, and he didn’t know what he was thinking— maybe it was because of the wine, or the man’s charming voice, or perhaps he got spellbound by the beauty of the vast sky—but he didn’t push Lifael away when he kissed him.
He could not refuse it at all as the fragrance of the wine between their lips intertwined. It was as if the long-standing affection deep in their hearts exploded, and the surge of raging pleasure was breathtaking and irresistible.
Xie Jianwei never believed in love at first sight.
Yet at this moment, he experienced these four words himself:
Love at first sight.
It was a love at first sight, but it felt like he had been in love with him for a long, long time.
And on this dreamy white night, he conveyed that sentiment out.
.
.
.
After waking up, Xie Jianwei slowly regained his senses, and he couldn’t help scolding himself, Xie Jianwei …… You’re out of your mind!
Doing such a thing with a person I only met for the first time, and a man at that, I mean an angel…..no!— an archangel!
Xie Jianwei, feeling that he had finally gone crazy, didn’t even dare to look around— he just swiftly put on his clothes and fled right away.
He was on his way back when he met the bleary-eyed Lorren on the road, “Where were you last night?”
Xie Jianwei: “…”
Fortunately, Lorren was as air-headed as ever, “Where did you fall asleep after getting drunk? I drank too much last night too and got taken away by a busty angel… I’m telling you, angels are pretty interesting. They look so pure and honest but when they take off their clothes, they’re more unrestrained than the demons.”
Xie Jianwei thought back to what happened last night. He took a deep breath and said, “I’m tired. I want to take a nap.”
Lorren remembered he’s not fond of hearing these kinds of things so he didn’t continue the topic, “Well, I’m going to catch up on my sleep too.”
They then both went back to the house together to get some rest.
The communal residence that the Celestials arranged for them to stay at had a nice double room. Xie Jianwei settled in the inner, farther room while Lorren, in the outer room.
Xie Jianwei’s heart was still pounding after lying on the bed. He kept telling himself: Don’t think about it, don’t think about it, we won’t see each other again.
But then, he began to feel sad thinking about it… Will we really not see each other again?
There was a prickling pain in his heart as those words spun in his mind.
.
.
.
Lorren, who just drifted off to sleep, got awakened by the consecutive knocks on the door. He rolled out of bed with a headache and said with discontent, “Who is it? It’s still so early in the morning. Why aren’t you letting other people continue their sleep.”
He opened the door, and he almost jumped out after his hazy eyes saw who the guest was.
“Yo-Your Highness, Lifael!”
The visitor had put away his six dazzling wings, but who didn’t recognize his face?
This was the man who led the Celestial race to conquer lands across realms. Even if he had never been to the Heavenly Realm before, this archangel’s face had been deeply engraved in his mind.
“Good morning, I’m here for Xie Jianwei.”
“You’re lo-looking for Ah-Wei?” asked Lorren, who was still stupefied.
Lifael smiled, “Is he here?”
“He’s inside, still sleeping…”
“Can I go in?” Lifael requested amicably.
“Ohh..” Lorren scratched his head, “I’ll wake him up then.”
“No need.” Lifael stopped him, “I guess he’s tired from last night. Let him rest.”
A buzzing sound echoed inside Lorren’s head when he heard those words. He felt that he must have just been too dirty-minded and misunderstood the meaning of that statement, but…..Lifael went straight to Xie Jianwei’s room.
Dazed with the entire situation, he was left there standing there standing all alone. He only managed to follow Lifael after some time.
Xie Jianwei was in deep slumber, seemingly exhausted. His untied long hair was scattered on the pillow and paired with his pearl-like complexion, his entire being looked as if he was glowing.
Lorren couldn’t help thinking , this brother of his is really prett—
But before he could finish his thoughts, Lifael looked at him and said, “You can go and continue your rest. I’ll wait for him here.”
Lorren: “…”
Lifael actually found a chair and he sat there, watching Xie Jianwei sleep.
Lorren thought that this whole turn of evets was weird. Lifael was acting quite odd too.
He even felt that Lifael eye’s that were trained on Xie Jianwei, were full of love.
Goodness. Do these two know each other? Loren stood in his place for a while, still bewildered, until Lifael asked him softly, “Is there anything else?”
“No, nothing ……” Lorren replied, then he turned around and went back to his room. He fell back into his bed and used a pillow to cover his head: Shit! What’s going on?!
.
.
.
At noon, Lorren ran to the other room as soon as he woke up. He was dumbfounded when he saw Lifael.
Xie Jianwei was still asleep, and Lifael was still waiting.
So it wasn’t a dream!!
A few moments after, Xie Jianwei’s eyelids moved, a sign that he’s about to wake up.
Getting an awful hangover was given especially after being “overworked” the night before. It might have felt great at the time, but tasting the consequences sure wasn’t.
Xie Jianwei’s body was hurting all over, and his heart also felt quite uncomfortable.
Why did I do that last night? He really didn’t think that he would one day become as uncouth as Lorren.
No …… I’m not even as good as Lorren. Lorren could at least forget the person after a nap, but I, on the other hand, dreamed of His Highness, Xie Jianwei’s heart was aching.
When he opened his eyes, he felt like the corners of his eyes were sore and his chest was clogged with something..
Just after he sat up, still muddle-headed, he heard a familiar voice, “How do you feel?”
Xie Jianwei: “?!”
He got startled and immediately jerked his head up, and he saw a man who shone brighter than the daylight.
He was completely stunned.
“Good morning.” Lifael greeted with a smile on his face.
Xie Jianwei’s eyes widened, and he spoke almost incoherently, “How—You’re here—How come?”
Lifael stared at him and sighed, I was afraid that you’re gone.”
“Huh?” Xie Jianwei felt that he had heard it wrong.
Lifael reached out and touched his cheek as he said in a warm voice, “I went to deal with some things in the morning, and hurriedly came back only to find that you’re gone.”
Xie Jianwei’s head was whirring, and he was about to say: I drank too much last night. Please forgive me for any offense I had committed.
As a result, Lifael spoke up first, “I was worried that what happened last night was nothing but a dream. I was afraid that you had disappeared into thin air.”
Not to mention Xie Jianwei, Lorren, who was guarding the door, had also frozen into an ice sculpture. He never knew that his good brother would play a one-night stand. Scratch that, he never even knew that he likes men!
Xie Jianwei mustered up his courage, “Did last night…..”
Lifael held his hand and repeated it again, “Did last night’s words still count? Xie Jianwei…” He asked him seriously, “Can you please let me love you?”
Lorren gasped and almost knelt down.
Xie Jianwei’s face suddenly blushed, he lowered his head, completely unsure of what he should say.
Rifle added, “I know it’s abrupt, but I don’t want to lose this opportunity. I’ve never been in love. I hope this doesn’t scare you.”
Scared? Xie Jianwei was scared. He was scared by his rapidly beating heart, and by the utter joy he was feeling.
.
.
.
Everything proceeded in a logical way: the two people who were attracted to each other fell in love.
It was already half a month later, but Lorren was still full of disbelief, “What the hell is going on? You and His Highness…” Not to mention that they’re both men, the main point was that will an angel and a grim reaper have a future?
“I don’t know.” Xie Jianwei replied.
Lorren was a little anxious, “Are you going back to the Middle Realm after the exchange?”
“Of course.”
“Then what about His Highness? You’re willing to leave him here?”
Xie Jianwei hesitated for a while, but in the end, he replied, “He said he’s going to give up his position as the leader of the Celestial race.”
There were seven archangels in the Heavenly Realm, but there was only one supreme archangel.
Lorren exclaimed, “How’s that possible? He’s Lifael. Without him, how could the Heavenly Realm be where it is today?” Lifael is the leader of the Celestial race, almost equal to being bound to the Heavenly Realm, but if he resigns from this position, despite being an archangel, he……
Xie Jianwei looked down and said, “I didn’t take it seriously. He probably just said it casually.”
Lorren thought that made sense, and he instructed him, “You have to remain calm. Even if Lifael wants to give up the position of being a supreme archangel, his supporters will not agree.”
“I understand.”
“Also, don’t expose your relationship with him otherwise, it will be very troublesome.” Lorren added cautiously. If Riffle really gave up the entire Heavenly Realm for Xie Jianwei, those birds would want to kill Xie Jianwei thousands of times.
Xie Jianwei’s voice trembled slightly, “I know.”
Lorren felt bad seeing him like this, there’s no future for them. He couldn’t see their relationship working out at all.

Xie Jianwei and Lifael were extremely affectionate to each other — like they had finally found their missing half. They couldn’t wait to be together all the time, and all their actions were sweet enough to make any couple in the entirety of four realms envious. It’s just that Xie Jianwei sometimes felt uneasy. He always held the idea of counting their remaining days together, because what Lorren said back then was right: he and Lifael’s future seemed quite bleak and full of hopelessness.
But half a year later, Lifael said to him, “Whatever rumors about me you hear, please don’t take it seriously.”
“What?” Xie Jianwei asked in confusion.
Lifael kissed him and said, “I’m preparing something so that I can finally fly away with you.”
Xie Jianwei only felt that he was only coaxing him, so he didn’t answer and just smiled. However, what Lifael said next made Xie Jianwei’s calm heart, burn again.
“The Heavenly Realm needs a wise and powerful supreme archangel, so as soon as I become dim-witted and unethical, then it will be easy to leave this position.”
Xie Jianwei’s pupils shrink sharply, “What are you planning to do?”
Lifael gave him a wink, “Smear my name with dirt.”
That’s why, many, many years later, someone would say, “There’s also an archangel with a chaotic private life amongst our faithful angels2.”
But the truth was, this archangel only had one person in his life, and he was willing to bear countless infamy and gain notoriety just to be with that person.
