Chapter 710
There was a bracelet inside the box.
“Huh,” Davey muttered.
The bracelet's design was simple yet elegant. Although it seemed delicate at first glance, Davey was able to sense a strong energy within it, so he knew it was no ordinary piece of jewelry.
“Let’s see...”
The description of the bracelet appeared before his eyes the instant he held it. But for some reason, it didn’t have the effect that he was normally used to.
"Hmm...”
As he activated the bracelet's information in detailed view, phrases began to unfold, explaining its properties.
“Huh...”
[Bracelet of the Lost]
- Crafted as a symbol of promise, the bracelet belonged to a general, who received it from the artisan. Despite the long stretch of time that has passed and its state of being unclaimed, the bracelet's power remains. A set effect is activated when its matching ring and necklace are also worn.
- Cooldown: 120 hours. When worn as a complete set, the wearer becomes immune to death at once in any situation. When receiving lethal damage, the wearer fully recovers by severing space.
“You’ve got to be kidding me.”
- ?????
- What in the world?
- Holy crap. Look at its properties.
- With something like that, you wouldn’t even need to worry about dying. Amirite?
- This is Jormungandr Guild! Could you sell this once you have the entire set?
The most excited responses came from the Awakened, who regularly risked their lives in combat.
‘Prevents instant death and achieves full recovery? Without its condition, this seems practically miraculous!' Davey thought.
The set consisted of three pieces. Individually, each item had minimal effects, but together, they provided continuous protection against death.
“Hmm... I’m not sure if this is suitable for a giveaway. I don’t want anyone dying, you know?” Davey chuckled as he rubbed his hands together. He then smacked his lips and further said, “Alright. I was just going for a dip, but something like this changes everything.”
“Where are you going?” Perserque asked as she blocked his path with narrowed eyes. “Prince Davey, you once told me that gambling ruins people.”
“There’s nothing to lose. So, this doesn’t count as gambling.”
- He’s right. There’s no catch to this. It’s a risk-free gambling.
“Besides, more people will be safe if I take down monsters.”
Perserque laughed, finding his reasoning incredulous.
Aerie on the other hand smiled and reassured him. “I’m... fine with that. Be safe out there...”
Davey looked at Aeria and realized that she had the highest risk of dying. Unless the enemy was as formidable as Eclipse, he thought it would be best if she had the entire set.
“B-but promise me something!” Aeria said.
“Promise?” Davey asked, tilting his head.
With her head bowed down, she cautiously answered in a small, whispered voice, “Don’t... overdo yourself...”
Davey didn’t say anything back to her. But with his gaze still trained on her, he made a gesture at Rinne.
Quickly, Rinne hacked the device so that it would stop the stream.
Then, without the slightest hesitation, he grabbed Aeria by her arm and kissed her.
“Uhhh?!”
Aeria’s eyes went wide in surprise as she looked at Davey. But she eventually smiled and closed her eyes, surrendering herself to the moment. As their kiss ended, there was a thin thread of saliva connecting their lips.
Davey then smiled at her and said, “Thank you.”
“This... This is something we should do after marriage...”
“I don’t care about propriety that much.”
Davey had no intention of breaking up the marriage anyway.
His words caused her to blush deeply. She then handed him a small handkerchief.
“This is a token... Please take it with you.”
“You’re acting as if I’m about to walk into a lion’s den. I’m just going out for a walk in the park. Rinne will protect you while I’m gone. So stay here with the kids for a while.”
Then Davey shifted his attention to Perserque. He approached her and asked, “Are you jealous?”
“You just have to do the same for me. That’s all I ask for.”
Davey kissed Perserque like he did with Aeria. Then he hugged her and said in a quiet voice, “I’ll go and see what’s going on. Please take care of Aeria in the meantime.”
“Okay. I wish you had said that from the beginning.”
After hearing Perserque’s response, Davey turned the stream back on. He then used telekinesis to levitate his phone so everyone could see him clearly.
Instantaneously, question marks flooded the chat.
“Just so you know, it’s one open per every thousand monsters.”
- He’s trying to go off topic. What just happened?
[What a stupid plan.]
“I heard there are a lot of monsters there, so let's get going. I want to open that random box quickly.”
Without further ado, Megalodria soared into the sky, heading north at an incredible speed, exactly as Davey had instructed.
***
Cambridge, a British territory, had become abandoned because of the proliferation of monsters appearing through the rifts. Having only heard of Cambridge as the location of Cambridge University, it was Davey’s first visit to the place.
Buzz... Buzz!!
The signal weakened as he went outside of Korea’s airspace. But the stream stabilized shortly after, as if the streaming platform had taken some measures to allow him to continue streaming.
- ???? It hasn't even been thirty minutes yet?
- Isn't that Cambridge? The only cities with that many rifts are Miami, Seoul, and Cambridge!
- Oh my goodness! What incredible speed! Didn't he circle the Earth too?
“I couldn’t locate it well, so I kept going in circles. Is this really Cambridge?”
- It is. Oh my goodness... It’s swarming with monsters...
- There’s more than before.
Davey took out the box and read the chat for a while. Then he said, "Alright. I’m going to dip my tongue a little bit more.”
- But you haven’t caught any monsters yet.
“What are you talking about?” Davey tilted his head.
- You just got there. You didn't catch any monsters yet. I’m pretty sure there are at least thousands of them there.
“No, no. Look for yourself. Where do you see any monsters?”
The viewers were puzzled, but they quickly realized what he meant.
Fff... Fwoosh!!!
Megalodria snorted and mustered a massive breath. Then it unleashed a storm. The attack decimated the monsters in an instant, and at the same time, the number on the box rapidly increased.
- Holy shit.
- Damn. Tell me this isn’t real.
Davey ignored the shocked reactions. But then he noticed the lack of response from the British side, despite the chaos.
“It seems like the British really meant it when they said they wouldn’t care if there would be chaos here. Anyway, let’s see... I can now open the box ten times.”
- Wait... Hold up. How is this even real? Several countries were stumped right off the bat when they tried to conquer this place.
- What on earth is that black dragon?
“First of all, even though it looks like this, you’re looking at a king... But more importantly, let’s go ahead and open the box! Let’s open it all in one go!”
- All of this is so absurd that I can’t help but laugh.
“Is this really the place where the British royal family placed a bounty worth hundreds of billions and still struggled to reclaim it after so long?” Davey said with a languid attitude.
Then he opened the box in his hand.
Ka-Ching!
An intense light shone from the box.
[Mana Stone]
And what came out was some ordinary trash.
“...”
- Epic fail lols.
- Fail lols.
He ignored the mocking comments and continued to open the box with a grim face.
[Beef jerky]
[Beef jerky]
[Water bottle]
[Aphrodisiac]
[Antipyretic]
...
“...”
Davey knew that whatever came out of the box couldn’t always be good.
“Alright, another place. Where else can I go?”
- Didn’t he say he was just going to dip his tongue?
“I just dipped my tongue, okay? It just happens that my tongue is a bit longer than others,” Davey succinctly reasoned with ease. Then he said, “So where should I go next? I will absolutely eradicate every monster out there.”
