Chapter 57: Shoto VS Hokuto (3)

WOOSH

DOOOOONG

Shun heard the sound of the hit and immediately started running. Thanks to his skills, he could see where the ball was going to land. The ball was going to fall a little over 5 feet (150 cm) beyond the fence, and after a quick analysis, he realized that he wouldn't be able to catch it by just jumping up, even if he timed it perfectly.

Shun continued running at full speed, thinking of any possibility to prevent this home run. In a few moments, he was nearly at the fence, taking a brief glance at the ball without slowing down.

Before crashing into the fence, Shun leaped with one leg toward the fence, using the other leg to propel himself. However, instead of propelling himself upward and stretching his arm as high as possible, he launched himself forward, with his entire upper body going over the fence.

Shun then used his left hand to support himself on the fence while extending his right arm forward. He didn't bother looking back for the ball, he just trusted his skills and calculations.

And he was right. In an instant, the ball appeared in Shun's line of sight, descending quickly. The boy moved his glove toward the ball, feeling it hit the tip of his glove, and at that moment, he gripped it tightly. Unsure if he had caught the ball or not, gravity did its job, bringing Shun back to the ground and causing him to fall off balance, all while keeping his arm raised.

The umpire quickly asked Shun to show his glove, and the boy didn't hesitate, opening his glove with a smile. He had already felt the weight of the baseball in his hand.

"O- Out! 3 outs, changeover!" - The umpire was surprised but quickly announced the out.

"Uuoooooooohhhhhh!!" - The entire stadium erupted in excitement. It wasn't common to see a home run being robbed like that, not even in professional games.

"Yeeaahhh!!" - Shun roared excitedly after hearing the crowd's noise. The boy started running toward the dugout, hearing the praises of his teammates.

"Whoa! That was incredible, Shun!" - The young samurai Ren said, thrilled.

"Nice catch!" - Kenta also praised him, excited.

"Hey Suga, don't worry about it!" - Kohei was the only one on his team who dared to ignore the murderous aura of the white-haired boy and speak.

BAK!

A loud sound was heard throughout the dugout as Sugawara slammed his helmet to the ground with force.

"Damn it! That bastard! How dare he? I'M GOING TO DESTROY THAT BASTARD!!" - Sugawara started shouting, the boy who had been disinterested before now red with rage.

"Ah man, he's pissed! It might have been better for you guys if you had let that home run go. This guy's going to go all out now." - Kohei sighed. He felt a little sorry for the Shoto players, he knew his friend very well and knew that now that Sugawara was angry, there was only one way this game would end.

"Ah, whatever, that's not my problem! It's your fault for provoking this maniac." - Kohei climbed the dugout steps with his glove, it was his turn to pitch now.

Shun watched as the Hokuto players took the field. He put on his batting gear and climbed the dugout steps with a confident look. Now it was their turn to attack.

The moment he stepped into the batter's box, he felt an intense stare from behind him. He looked at the white-haired figure crouched behind home plate and realized the boy was glaring at him angrily.

"Hehe, he must be frustrated because I robbed his home run" - Shun thought to himself and gave a slight smile.

"Tch!" - Sugawara saw Shun's smile and got even more furious.

"I'm going to destroy you!" - He couldn't hold back and declared.

"Oh really? Good luck with that, haha!" - Shun laughed mockingly without even turning to look at Sugawara.

The white-haired boy felt his anger rise even more when he heard Shun's words. He had to restrain himself from jumping on Shun's neck right then and there.
