Aeric looked at this healer with intense curiosity, eyes narrowed, brows furrowed. Why did she look familiar? It wasn't a kind of familiarity like someone he meant a few weeks ago, but like a faint piece of memory that didn't at all feel real.
Nevertheless, he couldn't shake the feeling away. He recognized her... somehow. Looking at her now, the best way he could describe her was a gaunt woman with a thin waist, small breasts and a mighty plum ass.
All these were visible, even with the healer uniform she had on. The fabric of the robes glued tight to her skin as she walked to the side of the bed and placed the basin of healing water.
Her eyes caught Aeric's and she removed them with a look that he certainly recognised. One he was already too familiar with in this place — a look of disdain. This woman hated him.
Now, Aeric was almost sure that he had met her before.
"You are to stay still while I clean your legs, hands and face with the healing water," she stated demandingly, standing in attention. "You are not to speak as that will only distract me from my duty and I wish to perform my duty with haste and leave."
Aeric didn't say anything, still curious as to how he knew this woman. Besides, he was told not to speak.
"I have given you some petals of the amber flower, I have treated your wound and I have given you a potion for the ache. After I clean you completely, the curse will be fully cleansed and you can return to your Region."
'Talk about being direct,' Aeric thought.
With a tantalizing swaying of her hips, the woman walked around the edges of the bed and moved to his other side where she had kept the basin of healing water.
"I shall inspect the damage point," she said. Promptly, she leaned over, reaching for the quilt that was used to blanket him.
Aeric felt his cock tighten inside his trousers and he almost squirmed. Watching her lean over like that and her ass rise up above her head... darn. 'Who really is she?'
Once the healer removed the blanket, she stared at his upper chest which she had earlier inspected and cleaned. Her brows furrowed in surprise and confusion.
Although she was in a hurry and although she didn't like him at all, she performed her duties with a gingerbread that showed that she took pride in her job.
For a few more seconds as she cleaned his arms, Aeric stared at her. He looked at her hazel brown eyes, her pointy small noise, the very few wrinkles on her small face that came with age.
She ignored his stare of course, continuing her work but Aeric just couldn't handle the curiosity. Eventually, he had to disobey her order and finally spoke:
"Can I ask you a question, healer?"
She heard him loud and clear, but she kept her head down, cleaning his hand with the wet towel. "I told you not to speak," she stated, still not looking at him.
"I know," Aeric said with an almost cunning smile. "But I am really curious and I think you know why."
The woman hesitated, but still didn't look up at him. Aeric was certain this time that it wasn't because she despised him that she avoided eye contact, but because she was nervous.
He had figured it all out by using the [Insight] Skill on her.
"Please stay still, Son Aeric," she said before continuing with the cleaning, "and try not to speak."
Aeric smiled. "I recognize you now and it's almost unbelievable to imagine." He saw her begin to worry when he said this.
"Son Aeric, you must stay quiet and conserve your energy—"
"You're the head midwife," Aeric said. "At least you were when my mother gave birth to me."
The woman gasped and lifted her chin up, finally looking at Spheris with shock. "How... How could you remember that? You were a newborn!"
