Gresis’s POV*
“Gresis-sama, my brother wants to talk to you too. It seems to be a conversation between men. Please tell me what you talked about later.”
I’m happy to be asked by Lilith in a cute way, but I only have a bad feeling.
I rescued Miss Nonelia, sold some favor, and I also sent him monster meat to use at the dinner party after the wedding, so I want to think that there is no 100% rejection.
I went to the guest room and sat in the seat where I was sitting earlier.
“Your Highness Gresis, no, Mr. Gresis, let’s talk openly.”
Prince Remilio clearly seems to want to say something.
“Yes, Remilio. . . Aniue.”
I’m about two years older than him, but I’m sure it’s not wrong to call him this way.
“. . . It’s complicated to be called Aniue when you’re older, but that’s good, but it seems that the wedding ceremony of the Tenar Kingdom was frugal.”
I feel an obvious sarcasm.
Certainly, our wedding was efficient, and it can be said that it is more frugal than Timir’s.
“At that time, there was an infectious disease that did not hit humans was spreading, and a rumor that Lilith came to take over the country. There was a strong sense of rejection of humans, and we had no choice but to do it alone. It’s different now, but to be honest, at that time, I myself was not willing to get married.”
Remilio-Aniue looked like he was clenching his back teeth.
I said it honestly, but did I still make him angry?
“. . . It’s different now.”
“Yes, I love Lilith.”
The hostility has eased a little.
“. . . I’m not going to say that it’s over, but in our country, there is a ceremony to give each other rings at the wedding, put it on each other’s left ring finger, and swear a lifetime of love. This is a woman’s longing and it is said to be a dream. The ceremony is over, but if you love Lilith, I want you to incorporate our country’s culture as well. Because it’s my selfishness, as long as you tell me the size of the ring, I’ll prepare it. At least it’s a wedding gift.”
I was surprised by the words of Remilio-Aniue.
“Do women in this country dream about weddings?”
Lilith didn’t say anything. No, she couldn’t say it?
“Is the Tenar Kingdom different?”
On the contrary, he was surprised.
This is the question I asked, but it’s okay.
“When we get engaged, cheating is a crime and unforgivable. Even if you don’t swear to God, it’s a law of monogamy, where we love only one person until we die.”
“Is it a crime to cheat? It is very different from our country where we are asked to take a concubine if an heir is not born.”
It is common for humans to give birth to one person at a time, so it seems that if a male heir is not born, you have to have a relationship with a woman you don’t like.
The crown prince position of the Kingdom of Seiran is also quite difficult.
I haven’t given anything to Lilith. It was annoying for people think that, so at the time of the Holy Beast Festival, we gave each other items to be an amulet and talked about what we always wear.
“Is that the hair ornament that Lilith was wearing? I see. That’s a good culture.”
I felt a little relaxed by coming into contact with each other’s culture.
Remilio-Aniue said with a serious face.
“When I was a child, I was sickly and told that I didn’t have long. I once took it out on the healthy Lilith and told her that she should die.”
It’s surprising just because I thought they were close.
I was different from my brothers, and I was a failure, but I don’t remember being told such a hard thing.
“So, that Lilith helped me with Healer, and Lilith really almost died because she used too much power. I got better and went to school, I had a fiancée and friends, and I was able to go to the royal capital to play. However, when Lilith recovered, she started a secluded life in the villa of the royal palace in order to hide her power. All the time until she got married.”
My heart was broken when I heard the story.
I want to hug Lilith right now.
“Maybe because Lilith was spending time in a small world, she can feel happy even if it’s something we think is normal. It’s a good thing, but I’m also worried that even if she’s neglected, she’ll find happiness without noticing it.”
That’s certainly true. As expected of her real brother. He’s just doting on Lilith.
“I can understand what you’re saying, but Lilith has the power to grasp happiness on her own, so don’t worry. She has already made great achievements in our country and has been awarded two, no, three medals.”
“It’s been less than a year since you got married, what did Lilith do?”
With Healer, she was helping beast people in our country and other countries. There’s no way I can say that.
They will definitely complain that we are using her.
“I can’t say it because it’s related to the secrets of our country, but there will be no one who despises Lilith, and even if there is, the knights won’t allow it. Because many knights, including me, are loyal to Lilith.”
“The knights are loyal to my sister!? Doesn’t she have more king qualities than me?”
I can understand the feeling of Remilio-Aniue, who is surprised and holding his head.
Because Lilith was increasing the number of followers without my knowledge, including the people in the mansion.
“No, she’s not suitable for the king position. Lilith is so kind that she could sacrifice herself right away.”
“I know that best. Mr. Gresis, you’re watching Lilith a lot, aren’t you?”
A brother with a younger sister is a troublesome creature. He won’t forgive me if I don’t take care of her. While saying that, he doesn’t like us getting along better than with her brother.
It’s not our business.
“If it’s not going well, I was going to take this opportunity to not let her return, but I’m glad that my worries are unfounded.”
Were you also thinking about not letting her return? It was dangerous.
It’s natural to take care of Lilith, it’s troublesome, but it seems that it’s necessary to sell a favor to Remilio-Aniue regularly from now on so as not to be complained about.
More than that, I remembered something important.
“Oh, that’s right, I’ll pay for the ring, so I want to leave the order to you. Unfortunately, when it comes to decorations, the Kingdom of Seiran has higher technology. I want to give something good to Lilith.”
“I agree. I know a good store, so I’ll send it to you in time for Lilith’s birthday. It’s just right to give it to her.”
That’s certainly true. But you said to make it in time.
“Is Lilith’s birthday near?”
“You should have heard that as soon as possible. Do you really want to take good care of her?”
Oops, the question was answered with a question again. Moreover, it made him a little angry. This tastes bad.
“I’m sorry. I forgot.”
It’s my fault, so I have no choice but to apologize.
“Haa, April 20th. Don’t forget it.”
He exhaled a big sigh, but he told me.
When Lilith is involved, Remilio-Aniue seems to be more generous than I thought.
“Oh, it’s April 20th. I appreciate it.”
Oops. I was going to sell the favor, but I ended up owing him. Well, it can’t be helped. If it’s for Lilith, I can’t trade my stomach for my back.
Finally, the conversation was over, and Lilith, who was waiting, asked me what it was about.
There’s no way I can tell Lilith that we only talked about her.
“I’m sorry, it’s a secret between men.”
It’s not a lie.
I guess she thought I was going to tell her. Although Lilith looked surprised, she looked happy, and thankfully, she didn’t pursue it deeply.
She must be thinking that Remilio-Aniue and I have become friends.
It’s not really getting along. . . Well, it’s not bad.
For those who didn’t know, there are many forms and levels of formal and informal speech in the Japanese language. That’s why I don’t change the niisama, oniisama, Aniue and other honorifics. They all mean brother, but show different levels of respect and closeness. That was probably a terrible way to explain it. Sorry to those who find it confusing.
Fun fact, the -sama that Lilith adds to Gresis’s name as a way to show respect for someone of a higher position.
I hope you enjoyed this chapter and thank you for reading!
