CHAPTER 58 BLIND DATE

"Your meeting with the board of directors has been rescheduled,"

Deo informed when he noticed me walking towards my office. He walked alongside briskly as he tried to catch up to my long strides,

"…for tomorrow."

"Anything else?"

"Some business development representatives came earlier. Atty. Wenziel accommodated them on your behalf," he reached for some papers from his accordion folder and gave them to me.

"Here, Dr. Eriez wants you to see this."

I tossed the papers to my table and leaned down directly on my seat.

"Investigate Claire's boyfriend. I want to know who he is."

He nodded and left me quietly. I tried to close my eyes when he left but was interrupted by a phone call.

It was Eriez.

"You're already an hour late. Don't let Jessica wait," the doctor fumed.

Jessica?

I reached for the papers Deo has given me. It has the info and picture of a woman Eriez had set up a date with for me.

Jessica Mendez, 24. Daughter of an automotive industry tycoon.

Pretty enough…

But not my type.

"Who cares? Let her wait."

If he's trying to waste my time, I'll waste his too. Let's see who gives up first…

"Didn't we agree earlier?" he sighed.

"Zel Cantheliz's future lies on your hands."

The sun was already setting against a dark purple sky and my dim reflection on the glass window stared back at me. I tightened my tie and donned on my coat.

"Fine. I'll not embarrass you."

"Deo," I called as I went out.

"Sir…" He stood from his designated seating just outside my office area.

"Call my phone in twenty minutes."

My men followed me out but I let them. I'm not going to let this be a date for two and I'm expecting she'll get annoyed.

The restaurant was empty except for a woman seated inside a little gazebo-like setup. She stood up at my presence. Her red heels made her height fell just a few inch short from mine. She was in the same ankle-length red bodice that was slit at the side to show off some fair legs.

A model?

My eyes traveled from her to the dining setup. Two seats waited under an arched topiary. A basket of daisies glitzed the heart of the table and few candles were lit romantically.

Except everything that'll happen wouldn't be as romantic.
