((( CLAIRE )))
"All that fucker wants to do is play with Clarita's feelings," he spat.
"Dexter…" I looked at them in confusion.
" What's happened?"
"Look at your brother Clarita," Nadine scrunched her face.
"He punched Derick outside."
Dexter pointed at me,
"Don't ever go with that guy anymore."
"Then what Dexter," Nadine hit him with her arm.
"We'll go back to the slums?"
"I don't care if we get back to what we were before!"
"Don't ever forget that he helped pay your hospital bills!"
"You should've just let me died than accept his help. All of you were just treating Clarita as your payment. Aren't I right?"
My knees weakened at their exchange of words.
I felt entirely defeated.
I ran back to my room and snatched the phone lying in my bed. I have to end everything that I started.
I called Derick.
"Let's meet today."
"Sure. But not at your house," he murmured.
"Your brother had just threatened me."
"I'll go where you are. Where are you?"
"Go outside the villa. I'll send a friend to take you here."
"Are you drunk?" I noticed the light slur in his tone.
"No."
"Okay…"
I hung up the call and changed clothes swiftly. But just as I got downstairs…
"Where are you going?" Dexter asked.
"To Derick." I noticed him knit his brows at the mention of Derick.
"I'll be fixing all these mess…"
"Just make sure that buffoon won't hurt you…else I'll punch him in the face again."
"I'll get home fast," I nodded.
It eased me that Dexter had been worried about my welfare ever since. And now I'll be ending the root of those worries. But my anxiety has resurfaced as I went outside the villa and saw the car that would take me to Derick.
It was the friend that Derick was usually with at the bar.
He waved at me as I approached.
"Claire, get in."
He smelled like booze.
When the car doors closed, all the uneasiness I've felt has doubled and something within me was warning not to go with this stranger…This paranoia was just too much to bear.
The drive was long and the sun was setting when we reached the place.
A casino…?
