((( CLAIRE )))
I knew by then that he was a good man.
His mouth would surely take every pride you have but that was just his way…to wake you to reality.
"He apologizes every time he makes mistakes," she continued.
Did he apologize to me? My memory was hazy.
But was it enough for me to just hold on his words…that he loves me.
Do I love him?
I don't know the answer.
"He's never loved somebody else other than you. And I knew it was you who's got a boyfriend he was jealous with."
Zhio was jealous with Derick? Seriously?
"He loves you. And we can't do anything about it. We're just following orders." She sighed.
"Zhio's short-tempered…so every servants in the household and employees alike at his company, fear him."
True enough. But in my situation, I'm the one who's furious.
I smudged my tears off.
"You really knew a lot about him."
She smiled again.
"I raised him since he was born. But I know you knew Zhio at a better level than any of his acquaintances."
"Just a little."
The gentleness of her voice made me feel at ease. There was this thing with old people that I am fond of. I wanted to hear their stories.
"When he come back to his right senses, he'll give you back your freedom."
"I hope so."
Looking at how big those boxes were, Zhio was indeed sincere with his words. He's keeping me at the mansion.
"I still can't believe I'd be staying in a room with him," I frowned a little.
"Don't worry darling," he tapped my shoulder.
"He returns late at night and leaves early at dawn. He sometimes doesn't get back home for a week. You might not even feel his frequent presence."
That was a good news and a bad news alike.
We aren't married! We're not even a couple to live under one roof, in one bedroom.
And I don't like how isolated I'd be in this place…alone.
"Now that you're staying here," she stood up and turned her gaze at the other maids, "we need this room cleaned up."
Zhio was crazy.
I won't ever agree at this kind of setup.
