((( RHIO POV's )))
It was nerve-wracking.
Wearing anything has never been as hard as wearing scrubs just to enter the labor room.
"According to Liezel, Miss Jasmin is still on labor," Deo said.
"I'm worried about her." Deo patted me on the shoulder and smiled.
"Fathers are like that. It's normal for you as a first timer." I closed my eyes.
"I think it's this sudden birthing is my fault."
"I do not think so, Sir. This month is her due date. It's good that we found her before her delivery."
"Yeah."
"Uhm...you should probably come in." I nodded.
"And when get out of there, you're already a Daddy, Sir." I sighed.
That f.u.c.k.i.n.g curse kept plaguing my mind.
Women always have one feet buried on the ground whenever they get pregnant but Jasmin's case was different,. I hoped nothing bad would happen.
Jasmin wanted a normal delivery and nothing else can be done even if it'll be more painful for her. She was writhing in pain as she tried to breathe deeply to push the baby out.
"Follow my breathing, Mrs. Zel Cantheliz. Inhale…exhale. Repeat." She was obedient.
When the doctor saw me, "Care to assist your wife Mr.?"
I approached and squeezed her hand, "Be strong Jasmin ... Be strong." She nodded.
"Follow my breathing...like this…" She followed.
"Ahhhhhhhrgh." Jasmin was shrieking more painfully and her grip on me tightened. My anxiety tripled. Her hands were ice-cold and she was sweating profusely. I bet anytime soon, she'd fall unconscious.
The doctor guided her again, "Breath in ... then push."
As each moments passed, I couldn't help but fear for her life...
"One more time."
The pain was evident in her face. I had given her that great and painful responsibility. The tightness of her grip on my hands made my tears overflow. I'm a father.
Then suddenly, just like that, we heard our baby's first cries.
I leaned down to kiss Jasmin on her forehead.
"Jasmin..."
Before I noticed, I was crying as hard as her.
