(((JASMIN POV's )))
I awoke at the sound of chaos.
My heartbeat raced when I peered outside the curtains. Rhio's men and servants were running around as if there was war. And there was that deafening whistle of guns.
Kevin suddenly cried. Something so loud has awaken him so easily. I approached and picked him up.
When somebody opened the door, my heart almost fell. I thought it was the end until I saw three maids panting terribly. They locked the door and worriedly looked around.
"What's happening?" I asked.
"Ma'am..." But before they could speak, there were loud thuds against the door. Then a louder noise outside the windows. It was a helicopter hovering outside.
"Miss Jasmin..."
"Where is Rhio?"
"He's not here," one of the maids answered. I closed my eyes. Oh God... They maids snuggled near me as the doors were slowly forced open. But before those people could enter it, the terrace was bombed. I hugged my son tightly as the only wall between us and chaos was destroyed.
"Get them," somebody ordered as they pointed at me and Kevin.
((( RHIO POV's )))
No. Not my family.
Thankfully, Elthon had the same strong sense of danger about that place as I did. He and his men arrived and saved me. But my wife and my baby were in danger.
Suddenly I received a call that was urging me to forfeit all my investments in that country. My presence must've had alarmed them so badly to threaten me just for that shit. For everybody's sake, I did what they wanted.
The Zel Cantheliz Japan branch would be permanently closed and the rest of business we started to establish there would be sold or would cease operations. It'd be a blow to our finances but I couldn't choose money over the lives of my family.
Another call came. It was from the businesses I pulled off my investments from. They had no idea why I did that. It'd be a lot of trouble fixing all the controversies that would spring from that unannounced pullout.
But whatever. F.u.c.k that. We had to leave immediately and fetch Jasmin and Kevin from wherever they were taken to. They were indeed brought to a cruise as the deal told. They were there.
And Jasmin was crying again. Nobody else was present aside from some ignorant seamen and my little Kevin in Jasmin's arms. I knew the whole thing scared Jasmin again. So I hugged her. Tightly…
Would there ever be a time that fate wouldn't threaten to take them away from me?
When would we ever live peacefully?
When?
