Chapter 127 - Project Zero

"Pregnant? How can you be sure? I just feel sick. That's all," Andrea protested as Lu Fang aided her back to her seat.

The man was in a daze after being told that Andrea might be pregnant. Although he knew he worked hard to make that happen, it just seemed surreal at that point. Nonetheless, he was happy and when he finally absorbed all the insights given by his mother and Li Wen, eagerness filled his heart.

He pulled Andrea closer to him and caressed her cheeks before giving it a peck. He then whispered to her ear, "Babe, I'm so happy."

"I was the same when I was pregnant with Lu Fang! I threw up for no reason!"

"It's for the entire three months that you constantly feel your stomach filling you up to your chest."

"I know! I could barely eat anything but crackers."

"With Mei-Mei, I was on complete bed rest for an entire month at the hospital!"

Their words of wisdom did not seem to help at all. Worst, Xia Ting added to the list, "And no making love for almost three months."

Both Lu Fang and Andrea paled. How in the world could they survive not doing it when they had practically done it almost every day!

They all agreed to have Andrea checked at the hospital before leaving that night. However, right now, they had more important matters to discuss.

Xia Ting took the children with him knowing the sensitivity of their upcoming discussion.

Before getting started, one of the Xia's security team came with Li Wen's laptop. She became occupied for nearly five minutes before diverting her attention back to the Lu Family. "I'm sorry about that. I needed to make sure that there aren't any spy devices in this room."

Realizing the gravity of the matter, Lu Jie leaned forward, preparing himself to be thrown with more unpredictable news.

Li Wen narrated to the Lus how Andrea came to aid them. It stunned them to learn that her arrival was not merely by chance but an interception of their organization.

"We belong to a group of secret agents tapped by the government. For your own safety, we'd rather not share the details. This is supposedly highly classified and by telling you this, we put other secret agents at risk. However, since we will be a family now, Andrea and I will put our trust in you."

Andrea turned to Lu Fang and said, "So babe, it wasn't really an accident that I came to your office that day. We received Intel of your assassination attempt. It was also because of the assignments that I met and assisted the Pie Family."

"Lu Fang," Li Wen called, "It was my decision to have Andy be your secret agent."

Out of the blue, she started laughing, "To tell you honestly, I did a background check on you and your family and thought, you were absolutely perfect for Andy." She then winked at him and added, "So you owe me…. nephews and nieces. Haha."

"Hmmmm..." the man grinned. 

"You mean to say, the government knew all along?" asked Lu Wei.

Andrea answered for Li Wen, "Well… not everyone knew. Just the president and General Lei. Our funding primarily comes from a fraction from the government's finances and it is solely managed by the president himself. Apart from the government, the Royal Dragon and other private companies whom we have offered help in the past, eventually, also contributed a premium."

It overwhelmed Lu Fang learning the kind of support that the President had given to them, but he was curious about one thing, "Why keep it a secret from us?"

Li Wen explained how some of the bureau's assignments were compromised that the President had reached out to her and Xia Ting. Eventually, corrupt officials were found out and let go, others were sent behind bars. It was shortly after that their organization came about.

"It was not about keeping it from you, but more on not letting the enemy know and hoping to catch them in the act."

"This is just part of the reasons why Andy and I don't necessarily flaunt our relationship," Li Wen roamed the eyes of those waiting for her to resume before directing her gaze to Lu Wei. "Mr. Lu, have you heard of Project Zero?"

Both Lu Jie and Lu Wei looked at each other in surprise. How could they not know? They had a prisoner in Gabriel's Den who's men murdered an entire family saying that he did the country a favor and that the victims were products of Project Zero.

"We have heard of it, but we don't know the details. What we know is that it had something to do with genetic experiment," Lu Wei answered.

"I already told Lu Fang," Andrea said after seeing her sister raise her brows at her. She then stood up from the man's side to sit beside her sister.

Facing the Lus, Andrea sincerely asked for their acceptance, "Grandfather Lu… Mr. and Mrs. Lu. It's true that the project involved genetic experiment. The organizers of this said project tested on selected children who had no families left, enhancing their capabilities in the process. As they got older, they were used for their own benefits."

The man was listening intensely and recalling the day she had told him about it. He remembers her getting worried about being feared and made into an outcast.

"Andy, child… What is your involvement in this?" Christina asked.

"Both my parents were part of the experiment." She turned to Li Wen and added, "Which meant, the mother that we share was a product of Project Zero."

The two continued to unfold the whole truth to the Lus leaving them dumbfounded. All the more when they found out Li Wen's incredible skills and her secret identity as the White Angel.

"We just hope that you will not fear us. If anything, we were made into greatness, just not in a normal way," Andrea said hoping for them to see things as they did.

"Andy, you must have gone through a lot. I can't imagine how you had learned to fight at such a young age," Christina's concern reached her well that it triggered a tear to fall down her cheek.

The man was quick to stand and walk to her direction. As he sat next to Andrea, he reminded her once again of his acceptance. He hugged her tight before saying, "I love you, Andy. Your past made you who you are and I love everything about you."
