The couple excused themselves from Yeong's presence to fetch Xia Yanmei at the airport. They have just about a week to get her settled before they head back to China. Nothing was certain at that point, but Yanmei may very well be assigned in Korea indefinitely.
Two days ago, when Andrea told Yanmei about the decision to have her work in Korea, she was ecstatic. The further she was from her father, the better. This was what she revealed.
Only then did Andrea understood how distant Yanmei was with her father. She learned that she hated her father since their parent's divorce and that she swore men, in general, were dishonest.
"However, Andy. I have seen cousin Ting's loyalty to Li Wen and Lu Fang's to you, so I have lighted up a little towards men. Every day at the office, I already greeted Gao Rou and Go Bolin a good, good morning."
Andrea fell confused and asked, "You mean you didn't greet them in the past?"
"Nope! I am not comfortable being friendly with men. I can show respect and speak to them but never get chummy."
Xia Yanmei's words made Andrea wonder if their plan would ever work, but since they had already appointed her to look after their investment in Korea, there was no turning back.
The couple was waiting at the arrivals area with Hanxi, who drove them to the airport.
When they saw her come out of the gate, the aura of a Xia was evident in her - her confidence exuded.
Xia Yanmei, had a long hair up to her shoulder blades. They were dark as night, straight, yet layered with enough buoyancy, giving her an alluring look. Her lips were plump and her skin was white as a pearl. What made her look extra attractive were her sharp eyes and her slightly snobbish chin.
Andrea wasn't sure if Yanmai was aware that she often had her chin and brows lifted higher than most people. She remembers how she used to be perceived as a snob on their first meet, but after getting to know Yanmei better, Andrea realized, it was just her way of carrying herself. Like most Xias, the characteristics of being just and dominant emitted from her, but inside was a golden heart.
"Lu Fang, Andy. Thank you for giving me this opportunity and putting your trust in me."
Andrea welcomed her with a hug and greeted, "Welcome! Welcome to Korea. How was your flight?"
"Very good. Their wine was exquisite. I could not dare to complain. You had me in first-class!"
Lu Fang smiled at Yanmei and said, "Good afternoon, Yanmei. We are happy to see you and we wish you all the best in managing the company's investment." Silently he added, 'We also hope you will capture one icy man's heart in the process.'
While in the car, they talked about the location of the office and the environment at work.
"For now, my brother gave us half a floor at his building, though he intends to have a new Skyrise constructed where we can have more space."
"So we are technically under your brother's company?" asked Yanmei.
"Yes, we are under JWS Investments. It is in this company name where my brother and his family hold several partnerships with many other corporations within the country and a few of them outside. His prized and most cared for, however, is the Yeong Guns and Ammos Corporation, the biggest arms manufacturing and dealership business in the country."
The three talked more about what Yanmei should expect. When they were down to the final and most relevant truth, Andrea took a deep breath before letting it out, "There is one very important detail you should know about my brother. It's something, we are hoping you could live with."
Xia Yanmei's eyes opened wide in curiosity, "Oh? What is it? He is not a scumbag, is he? By the way, I don't like pervs!"
Andrea laughed all of a sudden thinking about her amorous husband. She immediately shook her head, bringing her senses back to the important matter. She said, "No! no, no…. The thing about my brother is… He hates women."
Immediately recognizing the unpleasant look on Yanmei's face, Andrea could tell this was not the right direction to take. Knowing Yanmei's virtuous nature, she may already be thinking, this was a case of discrimination against women.
"What's so wrong with women?" she asked.
"Nothing! He treats me fairly - "
"You are his sister, Andy."
Andrea gulped, the situation clearly had escalated and she could only think of one thing to save it all, "He's gay! Yep… We think he is gay."
Lu Fang, "…"
Hanxi could already imagine Andrea getting into a fight with Yeong, but the thought was interrupted by the fact that she was pregnant. His attention turned to Lu Fang. Their eyes met at the rearview mirror and he gave the man a slit on the throat sign.
The man understood well Hanxi's hand gestures- he would be the receiving end of Andrea's actions today.
"Oh… I see what you mean," said Yanmei.
Andrea nodded several times and added, "Umhuh… So he might push you away, but it doesn't mean he dislikes you. I just hope you'll be patient with him, considering he is in denial."
Xia Yanmei was in deep thought. The truth was, she always felt sorry for those who had a different sexual preference, yet could not express it. She had a few gay friends herself back in the States where she studied. Eventually, she came to concede with plans of helping Anton Yeong be himself.
"But, Yanmei. You must not tell a soul about our suspicion. He is going to deny it for sure and he will not like it - "
"I understand, Andy. Such a powerful man like himself, he would feel the need to hide the truth to everyone." Yanmei's expression turned soft thinking about Yeong's circumstance. Then out of nowhere, her eyes brightened and she immediately announced, "I'm already thinking of setting up your brother up with a gay friend of mine who lives in New York! I'm sure he would be delighted to fly to Korea at any time."
Andrea's mouth hung open. She immediately looked sideways to her husband and silently screamed, 'Oh no. What have I done?'
"Ehh..." Hanxi's only answer while Lu Fang's gaze towards her turned dark.
