The metallic door opened before the couple's eyes and as soon as Michael Song saw Andrea and Lu Fang, he ran towards them, hoping to at least smother one, but the chain on his leg prevented him from reaching his target.
"Lu Fang! I will have you killed!" Michael declared. Being locked in the facility for so long, he felt like he was losing his sanity.
The man shook his head. He wondered if their decision was right. He looked at him straight in the eye and said, "Looks like your leg is getting better… We are taking you to the hospital, but before we do, we need to make sure. You won't get away."
Andrea leaned back against the door with two of Lu Fang's men. She watched him get close to Michael and kicked him on the leg where she had shot him.
"Ahh! F**k you! How dare you?!" Micheal groaned in pain, stumbling down as he held on to his wound. His bandage had a stain of blood that he knew the cut had opened.
One of Lu Fang's men came forward with a customized mask with a small opening on the nose. Lu Fang told him, "wear this as we go to the hospital."
"Listen to me carefully, Michael if you make a wrong move. You are a dead man - "
"Why are you taking me to the hospital, anyway?!" He cut off Lu Fang, even more agitated with the idea of being carried in public as a prisoner.
"Landon Song." Lu Fang's words made Michael froze. 'No!' He thought. 'How did they find out about my brother?'
Michael suddenly went ballistic screaming, "He has nothing to do with this! What did you do to my brother? What did you do to him?!"
"Your brother had a heart attack and is in a critical condition. Did you know your brother had a heart condition?" asked the man. "He had a heart attack more than a week ago which lead to another one this week."
"What? No! You are lying! You did something to my brother -"
"We are taking you there. You can ask his men yourself. You can choose to be violent inside your chamber or you can choose to obey and you will have the chance to see him." The man's words finally sank into Michael's head that he calmed himself down.
The guards cuffed him up. They then covered his face before they finally took the journey to the private hospital where Landon was at. The mask was meant for him not to identify any landmarks to the Den's location.
Their party rode in two cars, Lu Fang and Andrea were in one with Hanxi and Juan as their driver while Michael Song was with four soldiers of the General.
When they arrived at the facility, Lu Fang wanted to make sure that Michael Song would cooperate. Thus, he asked Fernando to orient him with the turn of events. This way, he will not make any assumptions of what had become of his brother.
Michael Song was waiting impatiently. When Fernando came inside the car, he was surprised to see him enter the vehicle freely that he asked, "What is going on Fernando?"
"Mr. Song. Landon came here to help Mrs. Lu with her condition. It was him that told how to cure the disease and in exchange, he requested to spare your life," said Fernando.
He shook his head learning this. He had already regretted meddling with Lu Fang and his wife. His experience in his new prison was enough to think that death was a better choice.
"They said he had a heart attack. Is that true?"
"Yes, Mr. Song. Landon did not tell you this, but he had his first heart attack two years ago. You were travelling then when it happened. Since then his heart had become weak. He - He did not want you to worry," replied Fernando.
He then proceeded to narrate the past few weeks including what triggered the heart attack. In an update to Landon's condition, he added, "Lu Fang had him on priority for a heart donor and took care of his arrangement here in the hospital, including his expenses and medication. Not that we ever needed financial help, it - it was just done automatically."
"I don't mean to be rude, Mr. Song but Lu Fang and his wife. Despite knowing that he is your brother, they had been nothing but kind and helpful to Landon. They even visited him from time to time, took the liberty of bringing in his doctor from the US."
"How is he now?" Michael asked.
Fernando's mouth opened, but no words came out. He first let out a heavy sigh and gave his honest opinion, "I regret to say, he may not make it. Not unless he gets a donor."
Michael Song was angered of what had happened. He was angry with his brother but he recognized; he was more angry at himself. What was clearly piercing through his heart was the possibility of his brother dying. He had protected him since they were just teenagers only to fall this way.He could not accept it.
When Michael was already well informed, they went up to the hospital building and made their way to the ICU.
Lu Fang had earlier instructed the hospital administrator to keep the west wing hallways empty upon their arrival. All staffs were directed to a different station and only when Michael Song had entered the ICU were they be allowed to pass through.
Under normal circumstance, only one or two family members were allowed to visit at the same time but since Lu Fang and his family hold's authority in the said private hospital, Michael, Fernando, Lu Fang, and Hanxi were allowed to enter together.
The man insisted that Andrea wait outside with his men.
The moment Michael saw his brother he knew he needed saving. He looked weak and his face was covered with a mask, giving him oxygen. He had lost an incredible amount of weight since he last saw him.
While still in his handcuff, he touched Landon's face and cried in his state. He could not accept his brother's fate. They may not have agreed on everything, but he had always looked out for his brother.
When Landon woke up from his touch, he immediately cried at the sight of his brother. The first thing he said was, "I'm - I'm sorry, brother. I'm - I'm sorry for -for betraying you." He was gasping for air as he said this. Still, he continued to say, "I - I just - wanted to -to make things right."
"Ssshhh. Don't say another word, brother. You need to be strong for your surgery," said Michael while holding on to his hand.
Landon's gaze turned to Lu Fang and his lips mirrored words of thanks. Although there was no voice, the man understood him and simply nodded.
Since Landon could not talk more, the brothers merely looking at each other for minutes until Landon fell asleep.
"It's time to return," Lu Fang said. He anticipated that Michael would resist, but to his surprise, he agreed.
Michael stood up and leaned over to Landon, whispering to his ear, "I will do right by you, brother."
They made their way down to the hospital building and just before entering the parking lot; they noticed Michael hesitated. Fernando was still with them and Michael turned to him saying, "Fernando, call Landon's doctor and tell him you have found a heart donor."
"And you know this because?" Lu Fang asked with confusion on his face. The same could be said to Andrea and Hanxi's expression.
Directing his gaze to Lu Fang, Michael said, "Mr. Lu, please let me die and have my brother take my heart. I am positive we are a match."
