In preparation for Bolin and Arti's vacation, Andrea offered to temporary help. Bolin already had his own secretary, one that Lu Fang tapped internally. Her name was Yenay.
She was one of Lu Wei's previous assistants who opted to work in the administration office. She could not cope with the demand being the CEO's assistant since she was a single mother of two kids.
Andrea knew Yenay would not fully commit to taking over Bolin's work, so she tried her best to fill in. However, within just a week of trial, the couple realized, Lu Fang needed a second assistant and not just a stand-in. The work was just overwhelming.
They also figured that Bolin and Arti will soon get married and have a family. Even if they had convinced the two to cut their trip to India shorter, they were bound to have another wedding in China to prepare.
Furthermore, they also considered Bolin's growth in the company. Having in-depth knowledge about Lu Fang's work, he was qualified to take a supervisory position or even higher. Ultimately, they had foreseen that Boling will not be Lu Fang's assistant forever.
Since everyone from the office knew how busy Bolin was, no single male or woman applied for the job. Thus, they were looking to hire externally.
The man agreed for Bolin to leave after training the new assistant for two weeks. They had put the task as a priority, giving pressure to the human resource department. After just two days of posting the job ad, they received over fifty applications, but only fifteen of them made it through the exams and only one passed Director Wang's interview.
They waited for another week, but because of Lu Fang's requirement, only two got past their human resources director.
Bolin was inside the CEO office, carrying the two resumes with him. He saw his boss, seriously looking at the computer. He turned to Andrea's extended office and saw her smile at him. He figured to give her the resume's first.
"Mrs. Lu. I guessed, you are the first one to approve these applicants," he said as he handed the folder to Andrea. "There are only two applicants that made it this week."
Andrea nodded before saying, "Yes, that's right. Anything that gets close to my husband needs my approval first."
She chuckled at her own words before accepting the folder and go through the resumes. One was a male who had worked for the mayor as his personal assistant. Andrea immediately thought he was a good choice. The only thing that concerned her was, he barely passed the IQ test as well as the computer exam.
She was about to flip to the next resume when Boling said, "the other one is a girl."
Andrea immediately gave a sneer and said, "Girls are fine, but you know how Lu Fang brings you to his business trips from time to - "
"She is really smart though," Bolin blurted out, unintentionally cutting off Andrea.
She gave it a thought and went through the girl's application. She was just fresh out of college, but she had studied in the US.
"Wow! Major in Mathematics! Stanford University… Graduated with honors. That gives me the chills," said Andrea. "Why the hell is she applying as an assistant?"
"According to the notes of Director Wang, her family had just returned from the US and she still needs to prove herself - "
"What the? Twenty years old?" Andrea's eyes grew wide, realizing she was young.
"Grade acceleration, according to the director," Bolin answered.
"I see. How modest of her. She is interesting, but let us wait and see. Also, you know having this kind of job, you also need life experiences... It makes me wonder what her maturity is like," said Andrea as she grabbed her ringing phone from the bag.
She gestured for Bolin to wait as she took the call. "Hello, Hanxi? You are arriving tomorrow evening? Got it, I'll tell Juan to pick you up."
After putting down the phone, Andrea reflected for a minute but soon said, "Let's wait for another week. No need to bring it up with Lu Fang."
The next week, Andrea was handed another set of resumes and she found one female applicant that had good work experience. She let the candidate through for a final assessment.
Bolin had earlier instructed the receptionist to bring in the applicant to one of the meeting rooms for an interview with the CEO. However, since Lu Fang was busy, it was Andrea who did the interview.
As she waited inside the meeting room, she turned her chair to accept a call from aunt Rosa. It was just a quick call but before she knew it; the door had already opened. She heard the applicant greet, saying, "Hello Mr. Lu. My name is Hui Ying. I'm the applicant for the interview."
Andrea turned her chair only to get her blood pressure to go up. The female applicant unbuttoned her dress, revealing her sexy lingerie.
The woman quickly covered herself, but it was already too late. Andrea was ranging in anger.
She ran to the other side, locking the doors and as she watched the woman tremble in front of her. She called Gao Rou to ask, "Is seduction a crime?"
She immediately had her taken down to the parking lot and brought to Gabriel's Den. She did not care about her background. That the woman dared attempting to seduce her husband. It was worse than any crime there is.
Andrea did not want to rush getting the ideal assistant for her husband so she suggested letting Arti and Bolin leave, regardless. In any case, she was around to help and Hanxi can take over the Andres Islands while she was busy aiding her Lu Fang.
Andrea had expected to be there for her husband after Bolin left. She had also looked forward to getting her brain squeezed with all the numbers and contracts to analyze, however just days following their assistants' departure, her vomiting got worst. On top of that, she was often sleepy.
Lu Fang decided to interview the other two applicants that Andrea had kept as a back-up.
Ho Ghozi, the male applicant had a good character, but his computer skills were not so updated. Still, the man felt he had strong determination and knew he could cope in time. He put his resume aside to interview the second applicant.
Chi Lanying, the young girl was very intelligent and updated with today's technology. She also came in wearing proper business formal clothes. She was simple and acted professionally all throughout. Lu Fang was immediately torn between the two choices.
He was in deep thought as he reviewed Chi Lanying's personal data. His brows drew together the moment he saw her father's name. He looked up to her and asked, "Chi Zhong? You - You're uncle Chi's daughter?"
Lanying gave a simple smile and replied, "Yes, Mr. Lu. I am. I was that girl you saved from drowning at our own pool. I was eleven back then."
