Chapter 88 - That mark on his neck...

DX was sitting inside the enclosed area while Kai Xin and her best friend, Jane Chu, were sitting at the light blue couch inside the Little Monkey's playroom. 

Kai Xin chuckled when she saw DX warning Mo Yuan against kissing the two little girls. The little boy saw DX kissing Kai Xin earlier, and he tried to emulate the older man by chasing the little girls around. He would have done it if DX did not swoop the girls up at the last second.

"You are a boy. You can't just kiss any girls you like, especially my girl!" DX said with a gentler voice than what he usually used with older kids. However, it was obvious that he was annoyed because there was a frown line on his usually perfect expressionless face.

"Kiss kiss..." Mo Yuan giggled.

Mo Yuan was just a few months older than the girls, so it was not like he understood what DX was saying. but it did not stop DX from warning him. 

"Big Brother Yuan Yuan." Little Monkey chuckled as she tried to reach down to Mo Yuan. When Mo Yuan tried to kiss her earlier, her father had swooped in and carried her up. Her Daddy told her that he loved her mother very much, that was why he kissed her every day.

Little Monkey also loved Mo Yuan and Ki Rin, but for some reason, her Daddy never allowed her to kiss Mo Yuan.

Mo Yuan thought that DX was playing with him, so he clung onto the man's leg and refused to leave the man alone despite DX growling at him.

"Yuan Yuan is so cute, totally unlike his useless father," Kai Xin said softly as she picked up a plastic toy ball that she caught when Mo Yuan threw to her earlier. She gestured the boy to get ready before she lightly tossed it back to him. 

"Yeah... That jerk is lucky to have such a cute son," Jane Chu murmured as she watched the little boy released DX to chase after the ball that was rolling away. 

Mo Yuan was the son of her... She did not know what their relationship was at the moment. Mo Shaoyun was her boyfriend when he dumped her to marry a woman, who was carrying another man's child at that time. To protect that woman and her child from her father, Mo Shaoyun admitted that he was the father and he married her. 

Jane agreed to give them time. They were supposed to get a divorce after she gave birth, but things went south after that. 

"That mark on his neck..." Kai Xin sighed as she looked at the bruises that resembled fingers on the boy's neck. She then looked at Jane Chu before she asked in a low voice, "She did it?" 

Kids might not understand everything but that did not mean that they could not feel. Now that she was a mother, Kai Xin was even more sensitive to their feelings. 

Jane Chu nodded sadly. "She had a relapsed two nights ago and tried to kill Yuan Yuan... Luckily, one of the night staff noticed and called for help..." 

"Poor kid..." Kai Xin said as she looked at Mo Yuan who was giggling as he chased DX around the playpen, while DX carried Little Monkey and Ki Rin on each arm. The kid seemed so carefree, but everyone knew that he was probably afraid when his mother suddenly attacked him.

It was not even the first time that it had happened. Mo Shaoyun's parents wanted him to divorce their daughter-in-law away, but Mo Shaoyun refused. He knew that they only cared about Mo Yuan, but he was not about to hurt the woman for nothing.

Jane looked at Kai Xin and said in an apologetic tone, "Sorry that I brought him here today, but Mo Shaoyun said that he's going to take her to the hospital today. He doesn't want Yuan Yuan at home in case he cries..." 

Mo Yuan's mother had postpartum depression, but despite medical help, her condition seemed to worsen with time. She would be fine for a while before she relapsed again. And whenever her condition relapsed, the one who would suffer would be her son. 

Somehow, not long after she gave birth to Mo Yuan, Mo Yuan's mother, Ha Lin, found out that her lover, Mo Yuan's biological father, did not leave her. He had, in fact, died when he was out on a fishing boat. Ha Lin's father had let it slipped during Mo Yuan's month-old celebration and as a result, she found out that her father basically sent her lover to his death in order to separate them.

She was no longer the same since then. She had been healthy then, but since she found out the truth, her mental and physical state kept deteriorating. She even rejected seeing or spending time with her son.

Morality aside, even if he wanted to, Mo Shaoyun could not divorce her legally when she was in this mental state. Besides, Mo Shaoyun was attached to this son of his, and despite the lack of blood relation, he could not bear to let him go away with his mother, especially knowing that his wife was unwell and might harm the boy. 

As a result, whenever she had a relapse, he would send Mo Yuan to Jane Chu for a while. He could let his parents take care of Mo Yuan, but Mo Shaoyun was currently angry at his parents. They were the one who forced him into this marriage by using his younger brother to threaten him.

When he married Ha Lin, he had warned them that it would be the last time they could tell him what to do. He was unwilling to let them control him further. 

And there was no way he would allow them to be alone with Mo Yuan. Who knew what they would brainwash the kid with... 

"Since you have the kid with you, it seems like you're still going to wait for him..." Kai Xin sighed as she caressed her belly absent-mindedly.

Jane picked up Mr. Bunny who was resting on the couch next to her, and said, "I'm not waiting or anything... I'm just trying to focus on my career for now... And I really like Yuan Yuan, and I like hanging out with him, so it has nothing to do with his father." 

"Hmm, alright... Whatever you say, Dr. Jane," Kai Xin said with a smirk. 

When Jane saw Kai Xin with a brow raised and a mischievous grin, she groaned loudly as she hid her face behind Mr. Bunny. "Come on, Kai Xin..." 

Unapologetically, Kai Xin shrugged. "I'm just saying... I know Ziyan has a disability, but he's a really good man... And he's not the same man as he was back then." 

Jane obviously knew what Kai Xin was talking about. Even though she, like everyone else, was angry at Lu Ziyan for his role in what happened to Kai Xin back then, she eventually forgave him... especially after they got to know each other better. 

Jane Chu grabbed Kai Xin's arm and said, "Please not again... I like Ziyan, and I know he's a good man, but unfortunately, him being a good man doesn't make my heart flutter for him or my underwear wet..."

Suddenly, DX turned to Jane Chu and warned, "Hey, we are in a kid-friendly room. Keep your mouth clean."

Mo Yuan frowned and pushed DX albeit for nothing. The man did not even feel it. However, that did not stop Mo Yuan from snapping at him, "No scold Aunt Jane!"
