Chapter 118 - Move out of here

She then rushed off before they could say anything to her. After she left, An Xin placed her cutleries down and muttered, "I have to go toilet too."

However, when she stood up, Lu Ziyan grabbed her wrist and stopped her from leaving. When she looked back at him, he asked, "When? An Xin... I just... I just want to know. As your friend."

He saw her wincing and realized that he used too much strength, so he immediately released her hand. "I'm sorry... If you don't want to tell me, then it's fine."

An Xin looked at the man who was feeling guilty for hurting her wrist, and after a moment of hesitation, she sighed and sat down.

Both of them did not say anything for a minute. Lu Ziyan did not want to pressure her, so he kept his eyes on his steak. An Xin did the same as well.

With both hands, she grabbed the hem of her skirt tightly as she wondered whether she should tell him the truth. After a moment of hesitation, she said softly, "Yesterday."

"Why so sudden?"

She knew what Lu Ziyan's hacker identity and that it was useless trying to lie to him. So, she told him the truth. "He... got some photos."

"Photos?" Lu Ziyan repeated her words, seemingly confused. "What photos?"

"Of me entering a hotel with a man." Her face turned red at this point in time, and she turned away from him.

"Hotel? Man?" Lu Ziyan frowned. After a while, he gasped out loud and pointed at himself. "Me?!"

An Xin did not say anything, but she didn't need to. The way she clenched her jaw and that sadness in her eyes told him everything.

"He divorced you because he thought that we... I'll talk to him!" Lu Ziyan snapped angrily as he slammed his left hand down on the table. Even when the other customers looked over in curiosity, he did not lower his voice. "I'll make sure he knows that truth!"

An Xin finally looked up at him. With a sad smile, she said, "There's no need. If it's not because of this, he'll think of something else. He was just waiting for an opportunity to get rid of me without causing others to talk badly about him and that photo merely brought the divorce forward."

She thought about yesterday, when she was confronted by her husband and his parents.

....

Last night, when she got home, her in-laws yelled for her to go into the living room. When she got there, the first thing she saw was both her in-laws and her husband sitting on the couch.

"Ma, Pa, is there anything wrong?" she asked with a small voice as she looked at her in-laws' angry faces.

"You!" Her mother-in-law snapped as she picked up a stack of photos from the coffee table and threw them at her. "You disgusting b*tch!"

As the photos fell to the floor, An Xin looked past her mother-in-law who was standing in front of her. She was looking at her husband who was sitting on the couch drinking his tea. When they first started dating, he was so loving to her that he wouldn't even let his mother say anything else but praises to her.

But now, he was sitting there, uncaring, while he looked at the doc.u.ments he was holding.

An Xin was hurt... and confused. She did not know what she did wrong again. When she looked at her father-in-law, he only gave her a look of disgust before he looked away.

She then took a deep breath and looked at the photos that were now scattered all over the floor. Bending down, she picked one up to take a look.

What she saw was a photo of her sitting on Lu Ziyan's lap as they moved around on his wheelchair. She immediately panicked and looked at her mother-in-law as she tried to explain. "Ma, this is--"

PAP!

Before she could even finish her sentence, she received a loud slap from her mother-in-law.

"Ma..." An Xin's eyes were filled with tears as she tried to bear the injustice that was happening to her. She held her stinging right cheek as she held her mother-in-law's hand. "I didn't do it, Ma!"

"Don't call me Ma! We don't have such dirty daughter-in-law like you!" her mother-in-law yelled as she flung An Xin's hand away as if she were a diseased woman. "Not only are you barren, but how dare you let our son wear a green hat! If you gave our son any sickness, we'll sue you and your entire family! Did you think that just because President Du is your brother-in-law, you can do anything you want?!"

"Ma, that's not true! He's just a friend!" She tried to defend herself, but everything went to a deaf ear. With tears falling down her cheeks, she went to her husband and knelt down next to him. As she looked up at her husband's face, she begged, "I didn't do it... I really didn't... He's a friend..."

However, her husband continued to be unfeeling toward her as he ignored her attempts. After a while, he slowly put down his mug and looked at her. "Enough. I don't want to hear your explanation."

He then handed her the doc.u.ments that he was reading.

An Xin's eyes went wide when she saw the title of the doc.u.ment. Her face was pale as she stuttered, "D-Divorce... paper?"

"Sign it, then move out of here," he said coldly, without so much as a glance to the woman he married.
