Chapter 125 - Whole milk

"Ask. Based on what Mr. Han did earlier, it was obvious that he's training you to learn when to ask questions. I bet he's just waiting for you to ask."

Xiao Lei groaned. "Can't he just tell me?"

"Ms. Xiao, no one is obliged to tell you things. If you don't ask, then it's your fault," An Xin said as she poured the freshly brewed coffee in Han Ye's mug. She then took a carton of whole milk and poured some into the coffee. Once she stirred it, she handed it to Xiao Lei and said, "Mr. Han likes whole milk instead of low fat, and he doesn't like sugar in his coffee."

"Oh..." Xiao Lei nodded. She then looked at An Xin curiously and asked, "Hey, how did you know? You're not his secretary."

An Xin smiled and poured herself a cup of coffee as she said, "Once you've worked here for a while, you'll know people's likes or dislikes. Like how I know you prefer sweet tea than plain tea. Cut down on the sugar, by the way. It's not good for you."

Xiao Lei gasped as she stared at An Xin. "I've only been here for one day."

"And you've made yourself at least 5 cups of sweet tea since yesterday," An Xin said with a smile as she walked out of the pantry and back into her own room.

Xiao Lei nodded. As she walked to Han Ye's room, she murmured, "Ok. Han Ye likes freshly brewed coffee with fresh milk. Oh, whole milk. And An Xin likes black coffee..."

She placed the mug of coffee on Han Ye's table and said with a smug expression, "Freshly brewed hot coffee with whole milk."

"I see you've finally done your homework," Han Ye said as he took a sip. He then frowned. "Maybe I'll just drink tea."

"You!" Xiao Lei snapped and glared at him as boiling blood coursed through her veins.

Seeing her turned red from anger, Han Ye could not help but chuckle. He raised the mug and smiled. "I'm kidding. I prefer this. This is delicious. Thank you."

"It's not funny. You're not supposed to bully your underlings. Didn't you watch those dramas before? Your underlings might turn out to be your boss one day," Xiao Lei said as she scowled at him.

Han Ye chuckled and waved his hand at her unrepentantly. "Go back to your work now."

Xiao Lei sighed and walked back. Before she got out of the door, Han Ye said, "Be careful when you're playing Minesweeper. If the others see it and report you to the HR, it will get back to President Du. I won't be able to do anything to help you if that were to happen."

Xiao Lei gasped. "You saw that?"

Han Ye pointed at his wall with his chin. When Xiao Lei saw the one-way mirror, she gasped. She was so annoyed at him earlier that she didn't notice the mirror. "No! That's spying!"

"No, it's called monitoring lazy secretary."

Xiao Lei pouted. "It's not like I want to. I've done everything you gave me today, and I've updated your schedule as well."

Han Ye raised a brow at her. "You read everything that I sent you earlier?"

"Yeah." She nodded nonchalantly.

"And you understand everything?"

Xiao Lei shrugged. "It's not that hard to understand."

Han Ye leaned back against his chair. The sites he sent her earlier were basically investment-related websites. Since she was worried about saving money for her son, he wanted her to learn how the basic investment skills so that she could at least play the market in the future.

"Since you think that those sites were easy, let me test you."

Xiao Lei grinned smugly and folded her arms. "Go ahead."

Han Ye tested on exchange-traded funds (ETF), the basic of ETF, unit trusts, closed-end funds, as well as some the case studies on these funds. He was surprised when she managed to tell him everything correctly.

"You... are actually really smart."

"Of course!" Xiao Lei flipped her hair proudly. "If my parents didn't die and that my life wasn't in danger, I'd have gone to Harvard or MIT. The things you sent me? Please. I read this kind of stuff when I was still in kindergarten."

Han Ye stared at her.

When she looked at him, he continued to stare at her. Somewhat uncomfortable with his stares, she stuttered, "Why... Why are you staring at me like a pervert?"

Han Ye closed his eyes. He wanted to ask her something, but after a while, he merely shook his head. "Alright. Since you're so smart, I'll send you something harder to read then."

Xiao Lei grimaced, but she did not say anything. Instead, she merely left the room and closed the door behind her.

When she sat at her seat, she turned back to look at the wall. Han Ye watched as the woman stuck her tongue out at the wall.

"She's just playing with the devil..." Han Ye smiled and turned the one-way mirror into an opaque mirror. He then sent her a message.

[ Stop sticking your tongue out. It's ugly. It's against the rules to stick your tongue out at your boss. ]

Even though he could not see her now, he knew that she was looking at the mirror again. Just the thought of her sticking her tongue out as if no one could see her made him laugh.

A minute later, a reply came back.

[ Stop watching me then. I'm pretty sure HR won't take it too kindly if I report that my boss is a pervert. ]

Han Ye smirked as he typed.

[ I'm untouchable in this company. ]

A few seconds later, another message came in.

[ Mr. Han... You don't seem untouchable in front of President Du. ]

Han Ye frowned.

[ Go back to work. Bye. ]

Placing his phone on the table, he then thought carefully. "Her life was in danger? Because of Murong Yu..."

His eyes narrowed as he ended the sentence with "or someone else..."

With a sigh, he mumbled, "Why do I feel like she's hiding something else from me..."

Thinking about Luo Guangying and Callum's expressions back when he went to Du Mansion with Tian Le and Lu Ziyan, Han Ye could not help but feel something nagging in the back of his mind. "Those two... Are they merely messing with me or do they actually know something that I don't?"

His thought was disrupted when a message from Angela Zhang came in.
