Chapter 147 - Du Mansion Party (13)

"Wait, you knew?" 

She shrugged. "I knew about the cheating part recently. One of XiAn's acquaintances accidentally bumped into that b*stard and his mistress checking into her family's hotel a while back, and since she had met my sister and that man during one of the parties here, she then asked XiAn if everything was fine with An Xin. XiAn mentioned it to me briefly about it."

She then heaved a low sigh before saying, "I wanted to do something, but I didn't know what to do. If I were the one who told her about it, I was worried that she might think that I'm doing it to hurt her."

"An Xin has grown up a lot..."

Kai Xin smirked. "I'm sure you know. You've been staring at her like a hawk since the first time you met. I was worried that you're going to kidnap her and take her someone to be your bride." 

"Come on..." Lu Ziyan groaned and hid his face in his hands.

To which, she waved her hand and said with a gentle voice, "I won't intervene. If you are her next man, then I feel more at ease." 

"You... don't mind her?" Lu Ziyan asked while looking at Xiao Lei who was talking about something to the group of directors from various companies. 

Kai Xin shrugged and popped another piece of gr.a.p.e into her mouth before replying, "Even if we don't really talk to each other and that we don't do what normal sisters would do, but no matter what, she's still the annoying little sister of mine. I do worry about her, and I want her to be happy. I'm sure Kai An is as well." 

"Well, I'm sure you guys will have enough time to fix your relationship in the future." 

"Maybe yes, maybe no. Who knows..."

"Once she's my wife, I'll definitely make you guys fix it." 

Kai Xin chortled and sneered, "Ha! Wife? Aren't you a bit too fast? She just got a divorce!"

"I'm not going to wait for someone else to swoop her up. I've already made it known to her, so... It's up to her now."

Leaning against her comfortable chair that had her butt imprinted on it by now, Kai Xin snickered. "Well, well, well... Color me impressed, Mr. Lu." 

"Anyway, stay out of An Xin's matter. The slaps he gave her, I'll make sure he gets it back tenfold."

"Slaps?!" Kai Xin slapped the arms of her chair and sat forward. She then asked angrily, "What do you mean by slaps?! Why didn't you tell me this earlier?!" 

"Calm down... He slapped her..." Lu Ziyan said slowly. He then told her everything, about how An Xin was wrongly accused just because Thomas Ou wanted to get rid of her without paying the alimony.

Narrowing her eyes at him, Kai Xin added gruffly, "I'm regretting giving you the right to handle this. You know. She is annoying, but she IS my younger sister. I should be the one to handle this." 

"No. You said you won't intervene earlier. No backsies."

Kai Xin growled. "You better do a good job then. He likes money and playing with women that much? I want him to have none!"

Lu Ziyan nodded in agreement.

The maid who had been tasked with serving Kai Xin alone suddenly tapped her shoulder and whispered in her ear. Upon hearing what the maid told her, Kai Xin nodded and dismissed the maid before calling for a butler.

When the butler came to her, she said, "Please tell President Du to come over and remind him of the time as well. Also, send someone to clear the tables to prepare for the dance. Make sure all the rubbish is cleared before setting up the dance area. And inform the kids inside the mansion as well."

Once the butler walked away, Kai Xin explained, "XiAn and I agreed to start the dance party earlier so that Little Monkey can enjoy herself."

"I'm surprised you actually let Little Monkey come and play."

Kai Xin shrugged while wearing a tired expression. She then explained, "It's her first party with a.d.u.l.ts. My mother-in-law has been talking about letting Little Monkey get used to being in a crowd as early as possible so that she won't grow up to be introvert, which I thought to be silly since my daughter is only a little over 2 years old."

With a sigh, she continued, "Anyway, since I'm not raised in an uber-rich family, I decided to just give in to my mother-in-law. It's kind of hard to say no to her since she did raise such a wonderful son for me. But still, even though this is a party, I don't want Little Monkey to sleep too late. Otherwise, she WILL be extremely cranky tomorrow."

"What are you guys talking about?" A deep, manly voice suddenly appeared out of nowhere.

Lu Ziyan and Kai Xin looked up to see that Luo Guangying was standing near them.

"Hey!" Both of them called out in unison when they saw their friend walking to them. 

"Damn, you're late," Kai Xin said when Luo Guangying sat down next to her. "I thought you'd arrive after everyone left." 

"I planned to, but Mum said that it's bad manners," Luo Guangying joked as he reached over to take her plate of fruits. While munching on the fruits, he asked, "So, what are you guys talking about?" 

Kai Xin and Lu Ziyan told him everything, and at the end of it, Luo Guangying groaned and complained, "Seriously, Ziyan? You can't make your move faster?! That's a thousand dollars bet!" 

"Well, it's not my fault you viewed me as a cad. She was a married woman!" Lu Ziyan rolled his eyes at the other man and asked sarcastically, "Besides, who told you to bet on my life?"

"Well... I was bored, Kai Xin was bored..." Luo Guangying shrugged unapologetically as if it was only a normal thing to do.   

"How's Callum? Is he feeling better?" Kai Xin asked. "Tell him that I'm really sorry that I can't visit him earlier." 

Luo Guangying waved his hand nonchalantly and said, "He's a lot better than before. He's eating more now, and he should be good enough to start working next week."

"Poison, huh?" 

He sighed. "Everything that could provide me with evidence was tampered with."

"I'm sure you'll find the culprit soon."

Luo Guangying nodded, to which Lu Ziyan asked, "Do you have any idea?"

Luo Guangying wanted to say no, but he knew that he could not escape from Lu Ziyan and Kai Xin's eyes, so he nodded. "I have a feeling, but I can't think of the why yet..."

"Let me know if you need any help. XiAn is not that happy about it as well. He said he's the only one who can discipline Callum," Kai Xin said with a serious expression before bursting out in laughter. "I had to remind him that Callum was already another man's man, and it's no longer his job to discipline his younger brother."

Lu Ziyan laughed. "I bet Callum get disciplined a lot, and he probably enjoyed each and every one of it." 

"Urgh, stop reminding me." Luo Guangying shook his head and murmured, "Everything I did to him was like a game. That guy can never be serious, not even once!"
