....
The next afternoon, during lunch, Han Ye told Callum and Luo Guangying the things that he had found out the last few days.
"If he's involved with the Shenlong Family before, then it was no wonder that we couldn't find much about him," Callum said as he reached out to pick a piece of siew mai, which he then placed in Luo Guangying's plate. He then reached out to pick a piece for himself. "I can talk to my grandfather about this. If he's being his usual obnoxious self, then I'll talk to my uncle."
"Do you think they know about him?" Luo Guangying asked.
Callum shrugged. He placed his chopsticks down and looked at Han Ye who was sitting opposite him. "If Xiao Lei was telling the truth, then there's something that I'm curious about. Why didn't my father tell me anything? I might be young when he passed away, but I wasn't that young. Furthermore, based on Xiao Lei's knowledge of Xiao Yunjie, Xiao Yunjie wasn't my blood-related brother, so why did my father hide it from me?"
He leaned back in his chair and thought about it for a moment before asking, "And if he hid it from me, there's a chance that he hid it from my uncle and grandfather."
All three men thought about it for a while. Shenlong Yanhuang and DX's father, Du Jin, were equally mysterious, and both of them preferred to keep it to themselves most of the time. The only people they talked heart to heart was to each other, and unfortunately, both of them were gone now.
"What if he's a kid that your father found during a mission?" Luo Guangying suddenly asked. When Callum and Han Ye turned to look at him with inquisitive looks, Luo Guangying added, "Shenlong Family prohibits the associations with people that one known while being undercover. What if the kid that your father took to the orphanage was a child of someone he knew?"
Callum frowned slightly and thought for a moment before shaking his head with a reluctant sigh. "That won't fit the timeline. As far as I know, my father stopped going undercover a few years before then. He had already basically retired by then and was spending most of the time with Uncle Du Jin and taking care of XiAn. At least until he left the country with my mother."
"Wait..." Han Ye raised a brow. "The underground judge/killer Shenlong Yanhuang babysat President Du?"
He had this image of a man with hands stained with blood holding the baby version of DX. "That must be cute..."
Callum could tell what Han Ye was thinking about and he immediately picked up a curry fishball and threw it at Han Ye, hitting the man in the chest.
"Hey, I still have to go back to work," Han Ye complained as he tried to wipe off the stain that was on his pristine clean light blue shirt. "This is never coming off now..."
"That's my father you're talking about," Callum warned with a growl.
"As if you're not proud of him having that title."
Callum's lips twitched. "Anyway, I don't think that kid was a child of my father's friend during his undercover years. He wouldn't have personally taken care of him if that were the case. I think that the only person he would take care of personally was back then was XiAn. God knows why... XiAn was probably a mean baby with a knack for ordering people around."
Han Ye smirked. "Ah, I wonder how he would feel if he knew about this."
Callum waved his hand nonchalantly. "Other than beating me up, what else could he do? Now that my wi-"
A quick elbow to his left side, which was slightly under his ribcage, caused him to bowl over slightly, and he immediately amended his words, "My partner!"
He glanced at Luo Guangying who was drinking his hot Chinese tea quietly. Despite giving the man a pitiful expression, he did not receive any other response other than a condescending glance that said, "You deserved it."
Callum sighed and rubbed his side as he continued, "As I was saying... Now that my partner is responsible for handling my finances, my brother has less to threaten me with."
Han Ye grinned. "I can't imagine what you guys would be like as fathers."
"Only time can tell," Luo Guangying said calmly. He then added, "Back to the issue, I think there's no point for us to keep debating about this. If Xiao Yunjie was really the kid that Callum's father brought to the orphanage, then the best thing we could do was to talk to Shenlong Feihuang or Callum's grandfather."
He looked at Callum and said, "Go meet them tonight. The faster we settle this, the better."
"Can't we just wait until the grave visit day? They would be going as well, and it's only a few days away."
"No, I want this done as quickly as possible. Go talk to them and see if they know anything."
"Come with me?" Callum asked with a pout.
Luo Guangying looked at him and thought, "F*ck! He's acting cute again..."
However, he still maintained a calm expression as he said, "No. Your grandfather hates me. Even if he knows something, he might not tell you if I'm there. Let's not push our luck."
Callum sighed. He knew that Luo Guangying was right. His grandfather was just too stubborn and old-fashioned. In the end, Callum nodded. "Fine."
"Great, then that's done. I really hope that Xiao Lei would be able to get some sort of answer from this," Han Ye said as he called for the bill. "This one is on me."
Luo Guangying smiled slightly, and his action was not missed by Han Ye.
"What?" Han Ye asked at the sight of the slightly grinning Luo Guangying.
"How's life with the mother of our children?" Luo Guangying asked as he refilled their cups of tea.
"Normal, I suppose. Zhihao is still a little shocked from his friend's death, but he'll pull it through and..." Han Ye stopped himself when he realized that Luo Guangying was still grinning at him. "What?"
"Mr. Han, are you sure you've no feelings for the mother of our children?"
"Can you please stop calling her that?"
"But she is the mother of OUR children."
"Stop it!" Han Ye sighed and pinched his glabella. "I'll admit it. I have feelings for her. Strong feelings. But don't worry about it. I'll try not to act on it at the moment."
Luo Guangying smirked. "I'm not stopping you, just so you know. I'm just saying... You're an a.d.u.l.t now, and so is she, so you're both free to do whatever you want. However, I just hope that for the next 8 months or so, you'd refrain from doing anything on the bed with her."
When Han Ye understood what Luo Guangying was saying, his cheeks turned red a little as he muttered, "Come on!"
"I don't want my children to be poked by unidentifiable... thingy," Luo Guangying said with a teasing tone.
Callum, who was thinking about what to say to his grandfather earlier, finally caught up to the conversation, and he frowned as he stared at Han Ye. "You heard him. We don't want anything weird poking our unborn children."
Han Ye groaned and stood up. "Where the hell is the waiter? I'm going to pay at the counter. Enjoy your lunch, I'm going to go do a little shopping for President Du after this."
He then left the two men behind in the private room.
