Chapter 255 - She had a son then

Luo Guangying was more than willing to escort Xiao Lei and Little Monkey on their walk. He even brought along Little Monkey's pink elephant backpack, where her nappy, snacks, and water bottle were kept in. Even though he was there, there was still a bodyguard walking a few meters behind them.

Little Monkey was holding Xiao Lei and Luo Guangying's hands as they walked, and she kept looking around, as if she was intrigued by every grave that she saw.

"I can't believe we are taking a stroll at a burial ground," Xiao Lei said with a chuckle.

Luo Guangying smiled. "Well, this is a beautiful burial ground as well."

Xiao Lei agreed. This was the Du Family's private burial ground, and instead of being cramped together, the graves were a few meters apart from each other. And next to each grave, there was a small plaque that described the person who was buried within the grave.

According to Luo Guangying, who heard this from Callum, that the graves with gold engravings on them were from the main branch while those with silver engravings on them were from the other smaller branch family.

When they stopped beside an old grave with silver engravings upon Little Monkey's insistence, Luo Guangying carried the little girl up in his arms while Xiao Lei read out the description. When she was done, she placed a hand over her chest and sighed emotionally, "This Mr. Du Mo died from a broken heart a month after his lover passed away, at the exact same time too... I don't know if I should be sad for him or happy that he was able to reunite with his lover so soon."

Luo Guangying shrugged. He glanced at the plaque and muttered, "Well... Both maybe. He was quite young... It's a good thing that he wasn't from the main branch, or the lineage of the original Du Family would end with a man who died of a broken heart. I can see why he's being buried way out here instead of being nearer to the main branch. The older generations of the Du Family, main branch or not, would not take too kindly to this kind of weak man."

Xiao Lei glanced at him and said, "You're totally a man. So unromantic. How can you care about the lineage issue when there's such a beautiful story in front of you?"

Luo Guangying chuckled. "Even if I'm with a man now, I am still a man."

They continued walking while chatting, and Luo Guangying tried his best to explain things to both Xiao Lei and Little Monkey.

"What's that?" Little Monkey suddenly asked as she pointed toward an area where the graves had red engravings on them. "And Daddy's there..."

They could see DX and his group deeper inside, but they did not bother to call out for them since they looked so serious and had their backs facing the trio.

"Oh..." Luo Guangying narrowed his eyes as he tried to recall it. "Oh, I remember now. Red is for people outside the Du Family, who had either saved or had majorly contributed in a way or another to the development of the Du Family's business. I think Callum's ancestors used to be buried here until they decided to have their own burial ground."

He pointed to the ones further in front of DX and his group and said, "Those are most likely Callum's ancestors. As far as I know, ever since Du XiAn's grandfather took over as the patriarch, the Shenlong Family stopped burying their dead family members here."

"Of course they must be dead," Xiao Lei said with a smile. When she looked at Luo Guangying, she noticed that he had a serious expression. "Wait... You mean..."

"Occasionally, they would have some uncontrollable members... and..." He gestured Xiao Lei to cover Little Monkey's ears, and when she did, to the displeasure of the little girl, he continued, "Sometimes they would bury their kins alive..."

Xiao Lei's eyes went wide upon hearing that, and Luo Guangying could not help but chuckle at her response.

"Surely you can't be that surprised? They are a triad family after all. What's so surprising about them having buried a couple of people before?"

Xiao Lei gulped. "Still... Well, I expect them to bury their enemies, but their kins? That's... horrible."

Luo Guangying shrugged. He did not tell Xiao Lei that those kins that they buried most likely were murderers who had lost their humanities. He merely smiled and joked, "Thank God they are more normal now."

They continued walking around, and whenever something caught Little Monkey's fancy, they would stop and do whatever Little Monkey asked of them, whether it was to explain what flower was what and what was written on the plaque.

"Tired..." Little Monkey suddenly mumbled and leaned against Luo Guangying's legs. "Carry me..."

She looked up at Luo Guangying pitifully, and when the man carried her up in his arms, she laid her head on his shoulder and mumbled, "Tired..."

"Do you want to go back?"

Little Monkey shook her head slowly. "Daddy's here..."

She wanted to wait for her father to pick her up.

Luo Guangying and Xiao Lei looked over where DX and his friends were, and the man said, "Little Monkey, I don't think your daddy is done yet."

"Maybe we can wait over there?" Xiao Lei pointed to a small pavilion under a huge tree, where it was surrounded by various graves with red engravings on them. "It's a lot more cooling there," she added. She had noticed a few such pavilions around the burial ground, no doubt they were built for the visitors in mind.

However, she noticed that this pavilion was bigger, and from what she could see, the chairs were a lot more comfortable as well. It was as if it was prepared for someone important.

Luo Guangying looked over and nodded. "Might as well."

He looked at Little Monkey's red face and said, "I doubt this little one would go back with us quietly."

Instead of replying verbally, Little Monkey merely stuck her little tongue out at him before turning away.

Once they were seated down on the soft, padded seats, with Little Monkey sitting on Luo Guangying's lap, Xiao Lei remarked while looking at the graves around her, "Do you notice how different this pavilion is compared to the others?"

Luo Guangying nodded. "Of course. Kai Xin came quite often, so Du XiAn built this pavilion for her."

He pointed to one direction where members of the main branch were buried in and said, "There's another pavilion there, just right next to her son's grave."

Xiao Lei whipped her head around upon hearing him. "Her son's grave?"

Luo Guangying nodded. "It's not exactly a secret anymore. You knew about Kai Xin's past right?"

Xiao Lei nodded with a slight blush. She felt as if she knew something that she shouldn't.

"She had a son then... My nephew."

Xiao Lei did not say anything.

Luo Guangying stared toward the direction where Kai Xin's son was buried in for a few seconds, and after a while, he said softly, "His name was Zihan. Du Zihan. With Kai Xin's permission, Du XiAn adopted him into the Du Family posthumously and buried him there. Before she got pregnant, she would come and visit him quite often."

Xiao Lei nodded, but she did not say anything else about the matter. This was their private family matter, and she did not want to intrude much. However, something intrigued her. "If he's buried over there, then why did President Du build such a nice pavilion all the way here?"

Luo Guangying smiled and pointed to a grave nearby with his chin. "Because the person who saved Jack and Kai Xin from their kidnappers was buried here."
