"Uncle?"
The small, cute voice brought Luo Guangying's mind back to the present, and he looked down to see an adorable little girl looking up at him with a curious expression.
"Sad?" she asked with a slight frown as she reached out with a small, chubby hand to touch his cheek.
Luo Guangying smiled softly. Even though her hand was stained with chocolate, he did not dodge it and merely let her touch his face. "No, I'm just a little tired..." he said before taking her hand and kissing the back of it.
Little Monkey looked into her pack of Ch.i.p.smore. There were still some left, which she wanted to eat by herself. However, she still generously said, "Give you."
She loved her Uncle Guangying, and she did not want to see him being upset. Besides, she could always tell her father to get her more later.
Luo Guangying chuckled softly and patted her head gently as he said, "You eat it. I'm not hungry. I'll be fine after a rest."
"Really?" Little Monkey asked with a serious expression.
"Really." Luo Guangying leaned forward and bumped their foreheads together before saying, "Thank you, princess."
Little Monkey smiled and hugged him back. She then leaned against him while eating her cookies quietly.
Luo Guangying looked up at Xiao Lei, who was looking at him with a curious expression, and he said, "Sorry. I just thought about something that's bothering me."
"Alright," she said after a long pause. "If you say so."
She then looked around, and she saw Kai Xin, Lu Ziyan and a few others walking toward the direction where Kai Xin's son was buried in. "Are they going there to see him?"
She thought curiously, "Where's Han Ye?"
The man she was thinking about was not there with Kai Xin, which was weird, because it seemed that everyone else was there with her. "Did he go back to the columbarium?" Xiao Lei thought.
Luo Guangying looked over to where Xiao Lei was looking at before nodding. "Probably."
"I want to pay my respects too," Xiao Lei said.
"We can go later. Kai Xin would want to show Wyatt off to his eldest brother, so President Du would probably head over shortly. Knowing him, he would quickly wrap up whatever he was doing. For now, let's not crowd her," Luo Guangying said before turning to look at where DX was. He noticed that DX was looking over to where Kai Xin was.
....
Layla Rong chuckled as she patted her best friend's back. "Chill, she's not a kid, and there are people around her."
DX forced himself to look away from his wife. He then glanced down at Layla before sighing. "The ground there has a slight slope. I just don't want her to fall. She has been having some dizzy spells lately."
"Oh, come on! She's an a.d.u.l.t," Javier Tan said with a groan.
He then glanced at his brother and sister-in-law, who were both on their knees as they offered incense sticks to their old friend. Their son was also kneeling beside them with a serious expression.
"Come on, we should finish this quickly before your kid screams his head off again," Javier Tan mumbled.
DX glared at him for a second before turning down to look at the baby in his arms. His baby was frowning, as if he was displeased at being dragged all the way out here. DX placed a finger on his baby son's lips, which was then "bitten" upon by the baby.
"All barks and no bites," DX teased his son before bringing the baby up to his face and kissed him on the forehead. "Grow up healthy, you little brat."
Layla Rong looked at the baby and chuckled. "Did he just roll his eyes on you?"
"I didn't know babies can roll their eyes. I want to see!" Javier Tan said as he stood closer to them.
Even Dr. Phillip, who had been remaining quiet the whole time, leaned over to take a look.
However, before they could see anything, a man's deep voice sounded, "We are all done here."
They then turned around and saw William Tan helping his wife up. DX then looked at Tiffany Tang who had her arms around her son's shoulders and her head above his head, as if she was using him as her support.
"Have you finished talking to him?" DX asked in a soft voice. "You can take your time."
Tiffany Tang smiled. "I just wanted to tell him more about Caleb and for him not to worry about me."
William Tan had a weird expression as he mumbled, "He has nothing to worry about when I'm here..."
Tiffany Tang glanced at her husband and chuckled. "Come on! It has been so many years, and I'm already your wife. Besides, you are already a father, so can you please stop being jealous of him."
The man sighed dramatically. What could he do against a dead man? He glanced at the grave of their friend with a soft expression and thought, "I'll never forsake her, so don't worry about it. As I promised before, I'll treat her as my queen, and she will always be my only love. So... move on if you haven't done so already."
Caleb Tan looked at his father with a curious expression, but he did not say anything. He wondered what was in his father's mind, having to come and pay his respects to his wife's ex-lover and the strongest contender for her love.
He knew a little from the stories that Tiffany Tang used to tell him, so he knew that before his parents got together, they actually went through a lot of things. Apparently, the death of this friend of theirs resulted in a rift in their fragile relationship back then.
William Tan noticed his son's gaze, but he merely shrugged. He then placed a hand on the kid's head before saying, "I'm fine."
He then looked up at his beautiful wife and smiled to let her know that he was fine.
William Tan knew that his wife loved him, but he could not help but wonder if the man did not die back then, would they still end up together? He had a feeling that the answer would be in the negative.
After all, back then, he was quite a horrible person.
He felt a broad hand on his shoulder and looked up, only to see DX's handsome face in front of him.
"I'll be fast," DX said before he walked past them. He stood in front of the grave for a few seconds before adjusting his son's position so that he would not drop him in case he moved suddenly. He then slowly got down on his knees.
No one gasped at this sight. After all, they had seen it a couple of times before. For a high and mighty man like DX, it was rare for one to see him on his knees.
"Hey," DX murmured as he looked at the photo of the smiling young man in the gravestone. The man in the picture looked like he was around eighteen or nineteen. In fact, he still looked more like a teenager than a man. He took a deep breath before saying, "Wyatt, meet my son."
