Chapter 278 - Xiao Xiao Lei!!!

...

When they finally got to the car, Han Ye had to be really careful as he tried to put the thrashing Xiao Zhihao into the backseat. The boy did not make his life easier, and Han Ye actually hit the back of his head against the top of the car.

"Let me go, f*cker!" Xiao Zhihao snapped as he tried to push Han Ye away so that he could get out of the car. He had so many questions, and the one he wanted to ask these questions to was Murong Yu.

"ENOUGH!" Xiao Lei snapped angrily.

Han Ye glanced back to look at her, and he eventually stood to the side so that Xiao Lei and her son could talk to each other face to face.

The two glared at each other, which was a first for both of them.

"Stop acting like a child!" Xiao Lei said angrily. She took a step forward so that she could see her son's face clearly. "I know you're in pain and that you're suffering, and I know you're angry about a lot of things, but that did not give you any reasons to treat Han Ye rudely! He has never hurt you, and nothing has happened between us! Get that out of your mind!"

Xiao Zhihao snapped, "He's trying to court you! Do you think I'm blind?! Dad's still alive! I won't let you betray him!"

"Xiao Zhihao!" Xiao Lei slapped a hand onto the car out of anger.

"Xiao Xiao Lei!" Xiao Zhihao snapped as tears welled up in his eyes. "Why did you keep saying that Dad died? You didn't see his body, nothing! Do you really want to be with this man so much that you are willing to turn your eyes away from the fact that Dad is still alive?"

He wiped away his tears angrily as he glared at his mother. "Dad's still alive! Say it! Tell me the truth!"

Xiao Lei clenched her jaws and shook her head. "I know it's hard to accept, but your father's gone. What do you want me to do, Zhihao? Dig out his body? Disturb his rest? Everything! All the circ.u.mstantial evidence pointed to the body in the grave your father. And-"

She clenched her fists tightly so as not to spill the fact about Xiao Yunjie's past.

"How could you be so sure?" Xiao Zhihao yelled angrily. "Dad would never leave me!"

He pushed his mother away from the car before slamming the door shut. He then covered his eyes with the back of his hand as he cried for the first time since he found out about his father's death. Xiao Zhihao knew that he was being rude and that it wasn't his mother's fault, and that he was acting like a little child, but he did not give a care anymore.

Xiao Lei cursed as she leaned against the car. She felt that if she were to get into the car now, either she or her son would say something that they might regret. "F*ck! F*ck! F*ck!" she muttered under her breath as she massaged her glabella. Her head was starting to hurt slightly.

"Are you alright?" Han Ye asked softly as he stared at her with a worried expression. She looked a little pale, and her body was trembling. "Should we go to Dr. Phillip?"

She waved a hand and said, "I'm fine... Just a bit dizzy. It's a little hot out today, and I was running about earlier."

Han Ye nodded. He wanted to take the bottle of water that he kept by the driver's seat for her, but at the same time, he did not want to disrupt Xiao Zhihao. For a boy at his age, it would be uncomfortable for him to be in any enclosed space with anyone while crying.

If Xiao Zhihao disliked Han Ye before, he would definitely hate him if Han Ye entered the car now.

"He didn't mean it... Don't be too mad at him," said Han Ye. He was worried about her. Xiao Lei looked like she was really mad. Her face was flushed red, and there were something glistening around her cheeks area. Occasionally, there would be some grinding sound coming from her, as if she was grinding her teeth.

Han Ye took a brief glance near the car door where she slapped down on it earlier and noticed the finger-like dented marks on it. For a moment, he was glad that her slap was not aimed at him.

"I know..." She sighed sadly as she glanced at the side mirror of the car. Even though the mirrors were tinted, she could still see the silhouette of her son's trembling body, and from that, she knew that he was crying really hard. "He's my son, how could I not know it?"

She then closed her eyes and tilted her head up slightly, wondering how could everything turn so fast in such a short time.

"Han Ye..." she called his name after a moment of thought.

"Yeah?"

"I'm just thinking... Maybe after this, a few days later anyway, I should move somewhere else."

His eyes went slightly wide open. He knew that she loved her son above all things, but wasn't this a little extreme. "What?"

"Just a temporary measure... Zhihao's emotion is extremely unstable right now, and I don't want to provoke him further." She then opened her eyes and looked at Han Ye with a pair of tired eyes. "I'll talk to Zhihao at home later and let you know my decision."

Han Ye wanted to talk her out of it, but he decided not to in the end. This was something that she should do by herself, and given how Xiao Zhihao felt about him at the moment, it was not wise for him to step in. Hence, despite everything he felt, he nodded.

"And Han Ye..."

"Yeah?"

"About Murong Yu..."

"Yeah?" he asked.

"Just..." She looked at Han Ye, and there was an expression of guilt on her face. "I know that you can move the men from the Shenlong Family easily, but please don't hurt Murong Yu. I don't want him to be near my son, but I don't want him to be hurt either... After all, I was the one who disregarded his feelings and hurt him back then."

Han Ye stared at her for a moment, wondering if perhaps, just perhaps... that maybe she had some feelings for Murong Yu; feelings that she had never acknowledged before. This thought bothered him, but he bottled it down.

"I won't... As long as he stays away from you and Zhihao, nothing would happen to him. But if he tried to hurt any of you, then I can't guarantee that." Han Ye was speaking the truth.
