Chapter 289 - Han Ye would flip out

Xiao Zhihao, who was somehow saved from a pummeling, felt rather confused by the turn of events.

"Zhihao!" Quinn came running toward her. While on the way to class earlier, she heard from someone that "the kid who received the award yesterday" was in trouble, and so she came immediately.

When she arrived, however, Quinn only saw a thin crowd and Xiao Zhihao was walking in the hallway with a rather confused expression.

"Oh, it's you," Zhihao said when he saw who it was. Quinn had been in his class for the last few days, and since he wasn't feeling really sociable previously, he had been defeating all her attempts to converse with him.

"It's not you; it's Quinn!" Quinn said with a pout. As they walked toward their class, she asked, "Is everything alright? You didn't get hit, did you? You don't look like you got injured."

Xiao Zhihao shook his head. "Nothing. I'm fine."

He then told her what had happened before saying, "I really expected to get hit then."

Upon hearing his descriptions, Quinn grinned and nodded, but she did not say anything to him. Instead, she merely thought to herself, "Looks like Godfather's plan is working well. At least, anyone with half a brain would know it."

Xiao Zhihao nodded. He then glanced at her and asked, "Why are you with me? You usually skipped the class immediately after recess."

Quinn treated the prestigious school as her personal playground, coming to class whenever she wished. And unfortunately, none of the teachers could do anything to her since they all knew who she was.

As long as she wasn't out wreaking havoc, President Du told them to let her be.

She shrugged and placed her hands behind her back as she walked. "Lyle and Jack had to go to a meeting to discuss about their school trip to the States next month. I hate meetings, and I can't do anything there anyway, so I decided to go to the class."

She then sighed and murmured, "I don't get why they are going. We can go to the States any time anyway. But it's rare that we can hang out together..."

"Aren't they the organizing committee? And Lyle's the President..." Xiao Zhihao said as he tried to be objective.

"Screw the committee..." Quinn mumbled. It was clear that she did not like her god-brothers going off for their trip without her. She could have joined them by herself. All she had to do was to whine to her godfather, but she just came back from the States! And she lived there! Why would she want to go for a holiday there?

Quinn sighed dejectedly before changing the topic. "Anyway, where were you earlier? I wanted to ask you to join us for lunch, but you ran off so fast!"

"The library," Xiao Zhihao lied. He did not want to talk to anyone about this, so he quickly said, "Oh, we are here."

He then picked up the pace and walked into their classroom while Quinn followed behind him with a curious expression.

....

For the next couple of days, everything went quite well for the Xiao Family. Even though Xiao Zhihao was still pretty cold toward Han Ye and did not want to do anything with him, he was slowly warming up to the rest and returning to his old self.

Seeing that everything had settled down somewhat, Xiao Lei and Han Ye went to meet with President Wei to discuss the acting role for Xiao Lei. They met at President Wei's company.

Once President Wei explained the role thoroughly to Xiao Lei, he asked, "So, what do you think? You've seen the script that I sent you previously, right?"

He had sent a softcopy of the script for her role to Han Ye before, and he figured that Han Ye would have given it to her prior to the meeting today.

Xiao Lei nodded. "There aren't that many speaking parts."

President Wei nodded. "It's an action movie and not a long one at that. The idea that the director and I have at the moment is trying to convey the meanings behind the movie through our actors and actresses' expressions rather than through their dialogue."

Xiao Lei leaned back slightly and sighed. "I'd really love to give this a try, but I don't think I'd be able to do it."

"Do have some confidence in yourself, Ms. Xiao," President Wei said with a stern expression.

"No, it's not about the acting part," Xiao Lei said with a slight smile. She then placed her hands gently on her flat belly and said, "I'm pregnant at the moment."

"Oh?" President Wei's eyes went wide open and he stared at her for a few seconds before looking at Han Ye.

Han Ye chuckled softly and averted his glances, thus causing President Wei to have a misunderstanding.

"Oh... In that case, this would be hard," President Wei said with a dejected expression. "That's too bad..."

He then quickly looked at her and shook his head. "That's not what I mean. It's good that you're are pregnant. Congratulations!"

"Thanks," she said with a smile. "It's still in the first trimester."

President Wei thought, "First trimester? Does that mean that she was already pregnant when we first met?"

He then looked at Han Ye and thought, "I didn't think that he's the type who would play around with his secretary."

However, President Wei sighed. "I just... The moment I saw you, I thought that 'wow, she's the one I'm looking for'. It's unfortunate that I can't have you in the movie."

Xiao Lei glanced at Han Ye before looking back to President Wei. "I'm really interested in trying out for this role, and the script seems really interesting so far. So Han Ye and I discussed this, and I talked to my doctor about it as well. My doctor said it would be fine and that if I pass the audition, I can still act, but when it comes to heavy action scenes, I shouldn't do it. Well, I think I can, but..."

She glanced at Han Ye and the words "Han Ye would flip out" were left unspoken. She then continued, "Anyway, for heavy action scenes, but in that case, I'd need a substitute actress."

The corners of President Wei's lips lifted up upon hearing her words, and he immediately nodded. "That's not a problem! We would definitely provide you with a substitute actress."

"And my belly is still flat now, but in a few months-"

President Wei waved his hand nonchalantly as he laughed. "Don't worry! This is a short movie. One month! One month is all it will take for us to begin! And I've had a few auditions and narrowed down a few actors and actresses for the supporting role. If everything goes well, we can start filming next month."

Han Ye suddenly stood up, shocking the other two. When he looked down at the other two who looked at him with confused expressions, he shrugged and said, "Let's go for the audition then."

He looked at President Wei and asked, "Are the judges here?"

Before they came over, he had told President Wei to get his judges ready. He would only be free today to come for an audition with Xiao Lei. President Wei was confused as to why Han Ye had to be there, but now, he was no longer in a state of confusion.

President Wei grinned and nodded. "Of course. I told them to be on standby."

"Great!"
