Time passed in the blink of an eye, and soon, Xiao Lei was back in Dr. Phillip's office with Han Ye and Luo Guangying for her second monthly checkup.
"Everything seems good so far and both fetuses are developing healthily," Dr. Phillip said as he looked at the screen of the ultrasound machine.
While looking at the screen, Luo Guangying asked Dr. Phillip with an expectant expression, "Are the babies stable now? Are we really having twins?"
He read that sometimes one of the twins might disappear, either because of miscarriage that no one knew anything about or because of some other reasons. Either way, it bothered Luo Guangying, especially since he did not want anything to happen to either twin.
Dr. Phillip nodded. He wrote something on Xiao Lei's chart as he mumbled, "Both of them are here to stay now, so don't worry too much about it."
He then looked at Xiao Lei, and as he wiped the gel off her stomach, he said, "Your body is in great shape, and as mentioned before, you can still act in that movie. However, do take note of your own condition. Any dizziness or any discomfort, and I want you to stop whatever you are doing and come over. Or at the very least, give me a call. You can get up now."
Xiao Lei, who was still lying on the hospital bed with her shirt lifted slightly, nodded. She pulled her shirt down and sit down.
"I'm not that comfortable with her being in the movie," Luo Guangying said with a sigh before looking at Xiao Lei. "Are you sure you want to be in it?"
Xiao Lei nodded. "I think I'd enjoy it."
He sighed again and nodded. "It's up to you then. I don't want to stop you from doing anything you want just because you're pregnant with our child."
Xiao Lei smiled and reassured him by saying, "I'll take care of myself. I know how to do that. And I'm sure the bodyguards that you guys sent to protect me would be there as well."
Luo Guangying could only accept it and pray that the bodyguards would keep her safe. "Anyway, when does the filming start?"
"In three days," Xiao Lei replied. She then sighed loudly. "Man, I still don't know who the male lead is."
Luo Guangying looked at Han Ye, who merely shrugged.
"The identity of the male lead is a top-secret, for some reason. President Wei met with a lot of A-list actors during the last few weeks, but there's no real conclusive answer yet. The only one who knows about the identity of the male lead is President Wei and the head director," Han Ye explained.
"Hmm..." Luo Guangying stood up and said, "Anyway, keep me posted on everything. We should go now. I'm sure Phillip has other patients to attend to."
"Not really. Your brother-in-law forced me to clear out my schedule on the days of Xiao Lei's appointments so that I can focus just on her..." Dr. Phillip said with a grudge. He then muttered under his breath, "One would think that being married would take away his tyrant behavior, but noooo..."
Xiao Lei heard his words and chuckled. "I'm sorry about this, Dr. Phillip. I didn't know."
She then looked at Han Ye and said, "Please tell President Du to stop it. I don't need this kind of treatment. It's a little..."
"Overboard?" Luo Guangying finished her sentence for her.
"Tyrant-like?" Dr. Phillip asked with bright eyes, hoping that she would agree with him.
"Errr..." Xiao Lei looked at the two of them before saying, "Well, it is a little over."
Han Ye smiled and shrugged. "I'm helpless about this. But I think that this time, it was Madam President Du who put down the order. She would have called you, Phillip, by herself, but I think that since President Du likes to mess with you, he probably offered to call you on her behalf."
"Still a tyrant..." Dr. Phillip mumbled as he folded his arms.
Han Ye then looked at Xiao Lei and said, "For this... Just let them be. They felt indebted to you."
"Well, they've given me a lot. In addition, what's with the trust fund and a fully-paid house for Zhihao in Imperial City? We don't need all that!" Xiao Lei frowned.
Han Ye and Luo Guangying exchanged glances before chuckling.
"It's just the Du Family's style of repaying someone. They didn't know how else to repay someone otherwise," Luo Guangying said as he tried to defend Kai Xin and DX's behavior. "Especially since... Callum actually said that he would protect you guys."
Everyone noticed the slight hesitancy in Luo Guangying's voice, as well as the awkward manner in which he pronounced Callum's name, as if they were strangers instead of lovers who used to share a bed every night.
"Hey, are you still on a war?" Dr. Phillip asked as he leaned back in his chair. As usual, his lack of care for the feelings of a.d.u.l.ts made him a good person who could ask difficult questions.
Even though Xiao Lei and Han Ye were frowning, but deep in their hearts, they were giving him thumbs-up. On the first day of their break up, Callum went home to Du Mansion and went straight to his brother's room, hoping that he could talk to his brother and sister-in-law about this.
Unfortunately, the two of them were getting hot and heavy, and despite DX's threats, Callum refused to stop knocking on their door, causing whatever DX was about to do to come to an abrupt halt.
Naturally, DX got so mad that he picked up Callum, a fully-grown man, and threw him out of the mansion, warning everyone not to let the "f*cking idiot brother of mine who couldn't read the mood" to enter the mansion.
As such, Callum went to talk to the next person he could talk to... Han Ye. That was how Han Ye got to know about the breakup, and subsequently, Xiao Lei as well.
Even though Callum was now back living in Du Mansion after bothering Han Ye for a few days--by groveling and with the help of Kai Xin--he still called Han Ye every now and then to ask him to check with Lu Ziyan on Luo Guangying's condition without revealing that he was the one who asked about it.
"Do you want to talk about it?" Han Ye asked Luo Guangying.
"No," Luo Guangying replied immediately, without so much as a change of expression. "That's between the two of us."
"Oh, so I guess you don't care then that I'm about to use the biggest needle on him?" Dr. Phillip said as he took out an empty syringe with a huge needle.
Xiao Lei immediately yelped and hid behind Han Ye. "Keep that away from me!" she snapped angrily as she peeked from behind Han Ye.
Dr. Phillip laughed. "This is not for you. This is for Callum. Kai Xin called and said that he's sick; fever, apparently. I'm going to drop by later and give him an injection."
"Can't you just give him some medicines?" Han Ye frowned. An injection seemed so unnecessary for something like a fever.
"It's faster and more fun this way," Dr. Phillip said with an evil smile.
Luo Guangying's eyelids twitched as he looked at Dr. Phillip, but in the end, he merely said, "Do whatever you want."
He then looked at Xiao Lei and said, "I have to take my mother to visit someone, so I have to go now, but I'll come and visit you again soon."
Xiao Lei nodded. "Take care of yourself. If you need someone to talk to and don't know who you can talk to, then you know where to find me."
Luo Guangying smiled and nodded. He then left the room.
