....
The director shook his head as he tried to get rid of that person's image.
"Director!"
Upon hearing someone call for him, he looked up and saw Vivian Siew still on the floor with an aggrieved look.
"Director, this is unfair... She obviously did it on purpose!" Vivian Siew protested with a tearful expression, hoping to gain some sympathy from the onlookers.
And it did work, to some extent, but not to everyone. Unfortunately to her, the director had seen enough crocodile tears to differentiate them from the real tears.
"We will take five minutes break. Make sure that Ms. Vivian is fine, and we will start again after the break," the director said to everyone. He then looked at Vivian Siew and added, "Vivian, you're more experienced than Xiao Lei when it comes to filming. I expected something better from you."
Vivian Siew clenched her fists together as her assistant rushed over to help her. She wanted to argue back, but at the same time, she was afraid that the director might replace her. It wasn't unheard of for him to replace a difficult actress in the middle of a series, much less a short movie like this.
Thus, with an indignant expression, she nodded and apologized, "I'm sorry, Director. I'll do better next time."
The director nodded. He stood up from his seat and said to Vivian Siew, "I hope so... I don't want to see any other amateurish mistakes by you. You're supposed to a top actress from Fan Entertainment, and I hope you'd live up to your reputation."
"Yes, Director," Vivian Siew spat out of her teeth before fuming off with her assistant in tow.
During the break, Vivian Siew's assistant asked her discreetly, "Ms. Vivian, I've talked to Ms. Fan, and she said to lay low for now."
"What? After what that b*tch did to me?! Why?" Vivian Siew asked angrily as she rubbed her sore palms. Unfortunately, she did not break the skin; otherwise, she would have made her agency go and complain to President Wei.
"According to Ms. Fan, that woman is not someone we can deal with. She said that the woman's backer was someone important in the business sector."
"So what? This is the entertainment sector! Why is she afraid?"
"She didn't say anything. She just said to tell you to stay put and don't do anything that you should not do. Otherwise, she would not be able to help you. She would be coming this week, and till then, she wanted you to work professionally."
"F*ck!" Vivian Siew cursed under her breath as she shot a death glare at Xiao Lei, who was smiling and talking to her own assistant. "That b*tch is getting on my nerve."
"Ms. Vivian, I think we should do as what Ms. Fan said. We don't have many details on that woman yet. If she really has a strong backer..."
"Fine!" Vivian Siew spat out. She knew how stupid it was to act against someone without knowing who the person's backer was. In the past, an A-list star lost her fame and reputation just from acting maliciously against a person whom she thought had no one to back her. This was a lesson that the management at Fan Entertainment had been drilling into them since the beginning.
Thus, even though she was extremely reluctant, she still forced herself to behalf and act properly, resulting in them finishing the scene in the next take.
"Good job," Xiao Lei said with a smile after the director yelled "Cut". She then added, "I'll see you again tomorrow."
Even though she was polite, her words were not well-received by Vivian Siew. After Xiao Lei walked away, Vivian Siew gritted in rage, "Who needs you to tell me that I did a good job..."
She then turned to glare at her assistant and snapped, "Tell Ms. Fan that I want to see her as soon as possible!"
Her assistant wanted to warn her that even though Fan Xiyue appeared gentle, she would not accept this type of attitude from her artists, but in the end, she stopped herself and lowered her head as she followed behind Vivian Siew. Some people had to be scolded to learn from their mistakes.
....
When Xiao Lei arrived at the front of the filming site, her driver was already waiting. After a small bow, the driver opened the door for her, and this action was witnessed by many other artists and staff members.
For most of them, their drivers were sent by their agencies, and the newcomers did not have any drivers at all. Only people who had made their own names had their own drivers. Thus, for someone unknown like Xiao Lei... It definitely raised people's suspicions.
"She's... not someone famous, right?" someone asked. They tried to search for her information online, but it was as if she did not exist at all, which in the current time and age, made them wonder about her identity even more. How the heck could someone live in the modern age without even so much as a photo online?!
"I-I don't know..." someone else replied with a confused expression.
"Is she someone's sugar baby? Maybe President Wei?" someone speculated as they watched the car drove off. "That's an expensive car."
"Sshh! President Wei hates it when someone spreads rumors about him with someone else! If he found out about this, you could count yourself lucky if you were even able to find a janitor job here!"
Everyone could not help but wonder about Xiao Lei's background. It was only normal for artists to be talked about, and it was one of the advantages, or depending on how one saw it, disadvantages, of being in the entertainment sector.
And unfortunately to Xiao Lei, this was soon spread out both online and offline, with the rumors went from her being someone's sugarbaby to her being the heir of a rich family and coming in with her family's influence, etc.
...
Since it was almost time to pick up Xiao Zhihao, Xiao Lei told the driver to drop by Imperial High.
"But there's another hour left until Master Zhihao is done with his school," the driver said.
"Then let's wait for a while. I'm not in a hurry," Xiao Lei said with a smile.
"Alright then, Ms. Xiao," the driver replied.
When he arrived at the school, he just parked outside the school, at the place where he usually parked at.
...
Xiao Zhihao got out of school an hour earlier. He had never told his mother this, but whenever he said he wanted to study at school, he was usually out looking for Murong Yu. And like those days, he wanted to go see if Murong Yu would be at home.
Even though he had since learned about his mother's past with Murong Yu, Xiao Zhihao could not give up on Murong Yu. He just wanted to talk to him once more, to ask if Murong Yu really neared him to hurt him...
However, when he was about to walk out of the school, he received a message with the caller ID "Annoying Guy".
[Zhihao, your mum is waiting for you outside the school. I know you've been visiting Murong Yu's apartment, but for today, can you please refrain from going? I know you might be angry at me for butting in, but I have to in order to make sure that you're safe. We need to talk about your visits to Murong Yu's house soon, but for now, I haven't mentioned anything to your mother.]
Xiao Zhihao frowned slightly. "He sent someone to follow me?" he murmured in an annoyed tone.
