...
"Argghhh!" Xiao Lei yelled into her pillow as she tried to hide her embarrassment. "Why did I say all those stuff? Damn it, Xiao Xiao Lei! Aren't you ashamed of yourself?"
She turned and lay on her back as she sighed loudly. When she thought about what she did earlier, her face started to heat up and turn red again, to the point that it was warm to the touch.
She did not know what came over her when she blurted out those words.
"He wouldn't think that I'm too easy... Would he?" she mumbled worriedly. "I mean... He didn't even court me or anything, and now I'm putting myself on a silver platter..."
She groaned and thrashed about in her bed. When she finally got tired, she leaned on her side and her eyes landed on the photo of Xiao Yunjie. "Yunjie..."
She reached over and picked up the photo frame that was by her bed. As she gently caressed the picture of her husband, she said with a conflicted expression, "Yunjie... It's not even three months yet... Are you angry at me?"
Her heart felt a dull pain and constricted all of a sudden, as if she had done something wrong. Technically, her husband had only been dead to her for a few months... and by right, she should have taken longer before developing feelings for Han Ye. But Han Ye's kindness and attentiveness toward her, from before he knew who she was, to when they found out that the grave belonged to Xiao Yunjie... Everything that he had done for her made it harder for her to ignore the tiny seed of feeling that was already planted in her a long time ago.
"Yunjie... I still love you, you know that right? Just because I'm about to move on doesn't mean that I don't love you anymore..."
If she were honest to herself, she also felt bad toward Han Ye. How could she say that she had feelings for another person when she was still in love with her late husband?
"How does one move on without feeling so guilty?" she yelled at the ceiling before groaning and turning over.
...
Outside her room, Xiao Zhihao, who was already in his pajamas, stood with a cup of milk in his hand. He wanted to talk to her about earlier when he heard her yell.
He knew that he was being an a*s toward Han Ye, especially since Han Ye and his mother hadn't started anything yet, but he could not help it. He just... really, really disliked him. To him, Han Ye was... someone might take his mother away from him someday.
Still, he didn't realize that it was hurting his mother to move on, and from the way she was yelling earlier, she was in a more of a conflict than he thought. To be honest, prior to this, Xiao Zhihao was a little upset that his mother seemed to have wanted to move on a little too quickly, considering that his father had only just passed away.
"No, he died two years ago..." Xiao Zhihao thought to himself as he walked back to his room with the cup of milk in his hand. "Dad died... two years ago..."
Thinking about it like that, his mother had actually been a widow for the last two years; a widow who was quietly waiting for the return of her husband; the saddest type of widow, one who would never know if and when her husband would return.
Lying down on his bed with the cup of milk resting on his stomach, Xiao Zhihao wondered if he would ever be able to accept Han Ye.

In Han Ye's apartment,
Unlike Xiao Le, Han Ye's mood was more toward happiness. He was humming as he blow-dried his hair.
"I don't get it... Why do you have to shower in my room?" Tian Le asked as he looked at Han Ye from his bed. "And your humming is starting to bother me."
Han Ye grinned. "Your big brother is happy, my little Tian Le. And I want to share my happiness with you."
"A. You're gross. B. Go bother Brother Ziyan."
Han Ye smirked. "Ziyan has someone else to 'bother'. He wouldn't want me in his room now."
Tian Le sighed. He wished his girlfriend was here. At the very least, having her in his bed, even without doing anything, would still be better than having Han Ye on his bed, showing off his happiness.
When Han Ye was done drying his hair, he jumped onto Tian Le's bed. Tian Le complained about him being in his room, but the boy still slept on one side instead of his usual position; the middle of the bed.
"Han Ye..."
"What?" Han Ye asked happily before humming again. He still couldn't stop smiling as the words that Xiao Lei said earlier kept repeating themselves in his head.
"What if I got a girl pregnant?"
Upon hearing that, Han Ye's smile froze for a moment. He then bolted upright and snapped, "What?!"
"I'm joking..." Tian Le laughed. "I just want you to stop humming. It's getting annoying."
Han Ye narrowed his eyes at Tian Le before slowly sitting back down on the bed. "Alright... I get it. I will stop now. But please don't make a joke like this."
"Relax... I haven't even done anything with her," Tian Le said before lying down on the bed.
Han Ye lay down on his side of the bed as well. "Do you want to?"
With his hands behind his head, Tian Le thought about it for a moment before replying, "Yeah..."
Why wouldn't he? His girlfriend, Yi Zhenya, was so adorable that he had a hard time keeping up a cool appearance. Every time they met during lunchtime, he had to warn himself not to touch her, even if she kept touching him.
Their classmates had probably known about them, given how they often met during lunchtime, but no one spoke a word about it yet. Thank God they didn't. If they openly admitted their relationship, Tian Le was worried that he might be unable to stop himself from kissing her.
And Yi Zhenya was making everything worse! She kept staring at him with those big eyes of her, hoping that he would say something or look her way. And Tian Le was always forced to do the same thing; put his hand on her face and gently pushed her to look at somewhere else.
Just as Han Ye was about to say something, Tian Le added, "But not now. She's beautiful and all, but... we are still young."
Besides, he had to focus on his studies at the moment. As much as he loved her, he did not want to fall out of ranks. Yi Zhenya's family was quite a respectable family. It might not be the top 10 families in Imperial City, but the Yi Family was still somewhat renowned internationally.
Tian Le might have Kai Xin and DX as his backup, but he wanted to do everything by himself. He did not want to bring them up in his relationship with Yi Zhenya.
"Good that you know what's right," Han Ye said with a relieved expression. "You guys are still young. I know that it might be hard, but if you love her, you have to control yourself. And if you really can't control anymore... Make sure that she's absolutely willing and sure of it, and always use protection. Please don't ever forget that!"
Han Ye did not want to be an uncle to Tian Le's child, at least not when Tian Le was still in school.
When he heard Han Ye's words, Tian Le could not help but roll his eyes and turn around. "Of course I'm going to use protection. I'm not an idiot."
Han Ye smirked, and he continued to bother Tian Le by asking a lot of questions until the latter ran to his room and locked Han Ye out. After that, Han Ye decided to let Tian Le off and go to bed.
