Chapter 318 - Stop making jokes like that

After taking a break, Xiao Lei managed to calm herself down and returned to her professional self. While filming, she had to remind herself constantly that she was Xiao Xiao Lei and not Fan Wushuang, so there was no reason for her to be afraid of her co-worker, Fan Shaohang.

In addition, she told herself that she had set herself up this path since she agreed to go to the Fan Family party with Han Ye, so she had to be strong enough to deal with everything that came with it, even the suspicions of those people.

Thankfully, Fan Shaohang did not behave weirdly during filming. In fact, he was very professional.

Once she was done filming that last scene with Fan Shaohang, she quickly returned to her room to change back to her own clothes.

However, when she was walking toward her room, Fan Shaohang caught up to her.

"What do you want, Mr. Fan?" Xiao Lei asked as she turned around to look at him.

With a gentle smile, Fan Shaohang said in a soft voice, "Ms. Xiao, please don't misunderstand. You look like someone I used to know."

"And you have told me that before."

"Yeah, I did," he said with a chuckle. "I just want to ask if it's possible for us to have a dinner together sometimes, as colleagues of course," Fan Shaohang asked with a smile. "Could you do this for an old man like me?"

Xiao Xiao Lei smiled politely at him and said, "I'm sorry, Mr. Fan, but as you can see, I have a son, and I have to take care of him, so I don't have time to eat dinner with anyone else."

"Well, you're free to bring him as well. I'd like to get to know him more," Fan Shaohang said with a serious tone. He was being honest. He really would like to get to know the kid more.

"Mr. Fan, I'll make this simple for you. I do not wish to talk to you outside of work, and I wish that you can respect my wishes," Xiao Lei said. Not once did she drop her smile. If Fan Shaohang could maintain it, so could she.

"Are you afraid that I'd find out something about you?" Fan Shaohang asked, still with that gentle smile on his face.

At this point, Assistant Yoon stepped in and politely said, "I'm sorry, Mr. Fan, but our Ms. Xiao is a little busy. Her schedule is packed full at the moment, but I'll try and schedule something in the future. Now, if you will excuse us..."

She then took Xiao Lei's hand and led her away from the old man before he could say anything.

Instead of being offended, Fan Shaohang merely grinned and thought to himself, "I'll prove that you're Wushuang sooner or later."

He then thought about the boy earlier. "Maybe I can start with him... If I'm correct, and I am, that would make the boy the next heir of the family."

As he walked toward his own room, he mumbled under his breath, "Lei, I will make sure to return them to where they belong... Don't worry about this."

...

When Xiao Lei got back to her apartment, Han Ye was already in her house, waiting for her while doing some work. The moment he heard the doorknob turn, he knew that she was back, and he went to meet her at the doorway.

He immediately hugged her as he whispered, "Everything alright? How are you feeling now?"

"A little exhausted..." she whispered back as she leaned into his chest. She wrapped her arms around him, taking in the comfort that he was offering her as she tried to forget about Fan Shaohang. After a while, she felt more refreshed, and she looked up at him with a curious expression. "Where's Zhihao?"

She was surprised that her son would let Han Ye be in the house when she was not around.

To her amus.e.m.e.nt, he laughed a little before answering, "He's next door. An Xin is here, and she's cooking dinner for everyone tonight. Zhihao said he would rather watch her cook than stay here with me."

Xiao Lei chuckled as an apologetic expression appeared on her face. "I'm sorry, Han Ye..."

"Well, he didn't kick me out of the house, so I'd say that's an improvement," Han Ye said with a wry grin. "I think that with time, he would even want to spend time with me."

Xiao Lei nodded. She was confident that her son would come around sooner or later and that he would one day look up to Han Ye as someone that he could trust... just like she did.

Han Ye released Xiao Lei. He then looked at his watch and said, "Dinner should be ready in about an hour. Do you want to take a shower first?"

Xiao Lei nodded. "Have you showered?"

Han Ye bent over slightly and whispered in her ear, "If I say no, can I shower with you?"

Xiao Lei's face turned slightly red. "Han Ye..."

"I'm joking." Han Ye laughed softly as he gently patted her head. "I've showered earlier. Go on. I'll wait for you outside here."

...

Han Ye waited outside in the living room while Xiao Lei was showering, and his expression was extremely serious. He was currently on a call with someone.

"Where is he now?" he asked.

"At Imperial Hotel," the person over the phone answered.

"Continue to watch him. I want a full report on who he meets and what he does. And I don't want you guys to miss out on anything again. How the hell did he manage to enter Imperial City without any of you knowing?!"

"I'm sorry, and that wouldn't happen again, sir!"

"And how are those people from the Fan Family?"

"Everything remained the same, but Ms. Fan Xiyue is still here in Imperial. Since she arrived a few days ago, she has been spending most of her time in her hotel. However, she met with a Ms. Vivian Siew recently."

"Vivian Siew?" Han Ye knew who she was. She was that woman who purposely slapped Xiao Lei. "How long was their meeting?"

"According to my men who were stationed there, they said Ms. Vivian was inside the hotel for about 30 minutes, and when she came out, she looked mad."

Han Ye paced around the living room for a while. "Keep a close eye on her, as well as her husband. And figure out a way to bug her room. I want to know who she's talking to and why she's here at this moment."

"Yes, sir."

When Han Ye heard sounds coming from Xiao Lei's room, he quickly instructed, "Report back to me in 3 days' time!"

"Yes, sir!"

Han Ye then hung up the phone before sitting down on the couch as he pretended to read the newspaper. "Hey, you're finally done," he said when he saw Xiao Lei walking out from her room.

"Sorry, the shower was so comfortable that I found it hard to leave." Xiao Lei grinned. Her face was still slightly flushed from the shower, and it made her look a lot younger than she actually was.

"Well, it would have been warmer if you let me shower with you," Han Ye said with a cheeky grin.

"Hey!" She pouted. "Stop making jokes like that. It's weird!"

Han Ye did not know how to tell her that this was the real him; at least, this was the real him when he was alone with someone he loved. "Alright, alright. I'll stop for now. Ready for dinner?"

"Let's go."
