Chapter 368 - I wish you guys all the best

The dinner went by quickly, and everyone ate to their fullest. Once they were done with dinner, it was time for some chit chat and own activities. Some of them had gone home early, especially those with young kids.

"Hey, I have another thing planned for you," Han Ye whispered as Xiao Lei played with Little Monkey on her lap. They were sitting down with some of the a.d.u.l.ts, drinking tea and chatting about life when Han Ye noticed that it was about time for the next segment of the party--"Alone Time with Wifey".

She had loaned her tiara to Little Monkey, so the little girl was now easier to handle than before.

"What?" Xiao Lei asked as she adjusted the tiara on Little Monkey's head, which wasn't easy because the tiara was too big for the little girl.

"It's a surprise," Han Ye winked as he said. He then stood up and picked up Little Monkey. Looking down at Xiao Lei, he then added, "I'm handing this little princess to her parents first. Why don't you go and change into something more comfortable? I have told the staff to prepare some simple clothes for you."

"I'm no longer a princess?" Xiao Lei pouted. This beautiful day is going to end just like that?

Han Ye chuckled. "Not yet. We still have three hours to go. I'm going to make this one of the best birthdays you have ever had."

He then offered his hand and said, "I'll walk you to the stairs."

Xiao Lei looked at his hand for a few seconds before putting hers on it. They then bid their farewell to the elders who were still sitting outside and watching the stars as they reminisced about their youth.

With Little Monkey, who was already extremely sleepy in his arm, Han Ye and Xiao Lei slowly walked into the mansion, hand-in-hand.

"When you give birth to those two, I won't have enough hands to hold your hand," Han Ye said gently before pulling her left hand up and kissing her wrist. "

Xiao Lei smiled and touched her belly. "They are going to be raised by Callum and Guangying."

Han Ye saw that she was feeling a little sad about it, so he quickly added, "We would still be in their life."

Xiao Lei nodded. That was also one of the reasons why she agreed to do this in the beginning. But even so, she felt that it would never be the same. For one thing, she wouldn't have to wake up in the middle of the night to tend to her babies. It wasn't fun, but it was a way for her to bond with her babies, and that would be something that she could not do now.

"Hey," Han Ye said. When Xiao Lei looked up at him with somewhat sad eyes, he sighed. "Don't think too much about it. Now that those two like you as well, they would think of something that gives you more time with the babies."

He adjusted Little Monkey, who nearly fell from his arm because of how she was swaying around from trying not to sleep, before saying to Xiao Lei, "It's your birthday. Don't think off those things today. You have plenty of time to worry about it later. Just enjoy your day..."

Xiao Lei looked at him, and after a few seconds, she took a deep breath and lightly slapped her right cheek before nodding. "Yes, it's my birthday! I'm a princess today, so I shouldn't think too much!"

Han Ye smiled and did not say anything else. They walked quietly until they reached the main staircase. He then looked at her and said, "I'm taking her up to her parents. I'll go look for you in the room later."

He then kissed her on the forehead before slowly walking up the stairs. By now, Little Monkey had completely dozed off and was drooling on his shoulder.

When he reached DX and Kai Xin's room, he made sure to knock and wait for the response before going in. The entire time, he was mumbling, "Please don't be doing anything. Please don't be doing anything."

A few seconds later, he heard footsteps from behind the door before the door was opened.

"President Du..." Han Ye greeted him before sighing inwardly in relief when he saw that DX was properly dressed in his suit earlier, just minus the jacket and tie.

The man had a thunderous expression for some reason, but the moment he saw his daughter, his expression immediately softened.

"Mm..." DX looked at his sleeping daughter and reached out to take her from Han Ye. "How's everything going?" he asked as he signaled Han Ye to enter the room.

"Great... She's changing now, so I can't stay long," Han Ye said as he glanced around the room. Thankfully, the gigantic room was still as immaculate as ever, which meant that those two had been behaving ever since they came up earlier.

DX nodded as he placed Little Monkey down on the bed. Kai Xin was sitting on a couch while rocking Wyatt, who was in a crib, to sleep. DX wanted to send Wyatt to the twins earlier, but Kai Xin was unwilling to part with her youngest today, so she put her foot down and told DX to either behave or she would send him to sleep in the twins' room.

Han Ye walked over to check on Wyatt as he asked, "So, what do you think?"

"Approve," Kai Xin said in a whisper. "She would be a good mother and wife for you..." She and Xiao Lei had a little talk earlier about methods to raise their children, and even though they had different opinions at times, Xiao Lei never backed down if she thought that she was right. "You need someone that could stand her ground..." Kai Xin said with a chuckle.

"I think I would have no grounds to stand on with her..." Han Ye complained, but it was obvious to everyone in the room that he was fine with it. He glanced at DX, who merely shrugged as if to say, "Welcome to the married life..."

"Han Ye..." Kai Xin suddenly called his name. When Han Ye looked down at her, she asked, "Are you happy now? Like... really happy?"

Upon hearing her question, Han Ye smiled. Kai Xin kept asking him the same question, but he knew that it was because she cared too much for him. So, he nodded and replied respectfully, "Yeah... We are moving a little too fast, but I kind of like the pace..."

They were no longer teenagers. Heck, they weren't even in their twenties anymore. Thinking about the time that was running out, Han Ye was glad that both of them were fine with a faster pace. Perhaps it was because of his losses, but Han Ye did not want to waste time anymore. And he had a feeling that Xiao Lei was the same.

He thought for a moment before saying to Kai Xin with a serious expression, "I know you are feeling bad because of Yuexue, but you don't have to. It's not your fault... So, please don't worry too much about me, Madam President Du. I'm fine now... I have reconciled with my brother... somewhat, and I have found someone that I can love and consider a future with... So, I'm fine now."

Kai Xin looked at him, and she could tell that he was serious. Even though she was younger than Han Ye, she had been acting as if she were his older sister, looking out for him and making sure that he had everything. She even protected him from DX's pranks a couple of times.

With Xiao Lei around, she felt that she no longer had to do all these. Not that she was complaining, but it would be more wonderful if someone Han Ye loved took over the role.

Taking in a deep breath, Kai Xin eventually smiled. "I don't think that I can ever feel good about what happened, but I'm glad that you found her. I wish you guys all the best, and no matter what happens, I want you to know that I'm always on your side."
