Zenia and Vaughn left the place without alerting anyone else. Gustof gazed out from the bedroom window where his family was staying and caught sight of the departing duo. He looked at the dagger that he was holding in his hand. He held the dagger tightly and became determined as to what to do next.
Gustof walked toward the bed. His wife and daughter were sound asleep. He kept the dagger in his bag and hid it well. He kissed his daughter and lied down beside his wife. He kissed his wife and hugged her. Sleep seemed to evade him even when he closed his eyes.
Outside, a shadowed figure landed on a nearby tree branch. He surveyed the place and found nothing unusual. There were no traces of the event that happened earlier. The unsuspecting figure smirked.
'Looks like everything's ready. I just hope that there will be no mishap.'
The shadowed figure left as quietly as he arrived. No one would suspect that he had been there. Gustof did not sense the presence of the intruder as he kept thinking of Zenia's offer. Ishelon was not a bad place after all. He did not know when he finally dozed off to sleep.

"Big Brother Vaughn, can you please slow down for a bit." Zenia could no longer take it and shouted after Vaughn who stopped his horse almost immediately.
"Why, do you feel sleepy?"
"I want to pee," Zenia looked at him almost teary-eyed.
Vaughn was lost for words. He had never met a woman as brazen as his little devil. Looking at her, she really lacked the gracefulness of a woman. It should not be surprising since she had been in the military accompanied by men.
'She was almost always among the company of men…'
Vaughn's face turned dark when he realized that Zenia had always been around those men in uniform. No matter if they treated her as their little sister, they were still men with no blood relation to her. Did they harbor any indecent thoughts about her? His wife was enchantingly beautiful that no woman could compare to her.
"There's an inn not far from here, we can take a rest there."
"Okay."
"If you have ridden with me instead of that horse, we should be in the capital by now. Why don't you just ditch that horse? He could find his way back to you anyway."
Zenia glared at Vaughn and pouted her lips.
"Don't forget that Brownie is your first gift to me." Zenia gave him a wide grin.
Vaughn's cheeks gave off a faint blush. 'My wife, it's not my first gift to you.'
He no longer replied and pointed Zenia to the direction of the inn. Although he was not able to tell Zenia about his real identity, he was still glad that they seemed to have gotten closer. He just hoped that their relationship would get better each day.
They reached the inn and dismounted from the horses. Zenia almost ran to the inn and registered for a room. She quickly went to the comfort room to relieve herself.
Vaughn witnessed Zenia's speed once more. He grinned at the thought that in a few weeks he would start spending the rest of his life with his little devil. In the future, they would raise more little devils together. He knew that Zenia was very close to her family, and he wanted to have the same kind of warmth with the family they would raise.
Although he got everything planned and was dead set on making Zenia stay with him forever, he was also bracing himself for possible mishaps. He had yet to think of a way to win over the two monsters that had always been beside her. He did not leave a good impression on Zander, and his experience with Zekiah was worse.
'What about father and mother-in-law? Would they willingly give my wife to me?'
He recalled how lively Zenia was when she was still a little girl. How did her mother handle her? How would she handle their children? He imagined Zenia playing with their child and teaching him how to prank everyone in Tissuria.
"That was unbelievable! I thought I wouldn't be able to make it in time." Zenia laughed and then a growling sound was heard coming from her.
She laughed silly and was slightly blushing, but she remained composed and calm as if it was not a big deal for her at all. If it was another lady, she would have died of embarrassment on the spot, but not Zenia. Vaughn liked it very much that she was like that – unpretentious and free-spirited.
"Do you want to eat?" Vaughn smiled at her warmly as he extended his hand to lead her to the dining area.
Zenia took Vaughn's arm, and she held on to him as they walked to the direction of the dining area. That inn was famous for always being open all the time, and they always welcome their guests with a smile any time of the day until it turned dark.
Everyone looked at their direction with scrutinizing eyes. Vaughn had mistaken everyone's gaze. He had such a beauty beside him, why wouldn't they be envy. He totally forgot that Zenia was still dressed as a man.
The waiter walked to them to get their order. Earlier, they drew lots as to who should serve the seemingly gay couple. They were living in such a time when gay couples were prohibited to be seen together. They were sure that the new guests were a gay couple, but they had no proof.
Other than Zenia holding Vaughn's arm, they did not show anything indecent. However, the people around them could also feel Vaughn's affection toward Zenia. Was it unrequited love? And the one experiencing it was the awesome-looking man? Why should he fall for someone so… ordinary?
The waiter shook his head and tried to do a good job.
"What are your best dishes here?" Zenia asked the waiter and gave him a gorgeous smile as her eyes sparkled.
The waiter had never seen such a beaming smile coupled with a pair of eyes that seemed to gather the stars in them. He was stunned, and he blushed. He finally understood why the good-looking man would fall for such a guy. If he was a woman, he could easily defeat the capital's number one beauty. Perhaps, he could even crush the continent's top beauty.
Vaughn noticed that the waiter was staring too much at Zenia and was seemed to imagine things that he shouldn't have. Vaughn finally realized that Zenia was dressed as a man.
'This little devil could still attract a man even though she is dressed like one.'
Vaughn coughed intentionally to bring the waiter back to his senses.
"Just quickly bring us the best dishes that you have."
"R-right away, sir." The waiter stuttered and almost dashed away from the table.
The waiter felt Vaughn's terrifying aura and knew that the man was not someone ordinary. He wondered how they got hooked together.
