Chapter 239 - Let Go of My Husband!

Uncle Ross looked at Zenia to get her approval. She nodded her head.

"Sir, there are already four sh.i.p.s, like this one, that has been deployed. There are still three sh.i.p.s in Ishelon currently being built."

"All of them are as luxurious as this one?"

"That is correct, sir."

"Wow! Ishelon is really wealthy. Imagine owning so many sh.i.p.s like this one," Jorick exclaimed, and the admiration in his eyes was evident.

Zenia and Uncle Ross looked at each other and shrugged their shoulders. It was best not to tell them that it was Ovid's money and not King Jarod's.

Uncle Ross looked around as if searching for someone.

"Where's Willard Loft? I thought he and his men are the ones to escort you when you get out of Prazia?"

"They are still busy cleaning up the trash. They should be here any minute now."

Bzzzt!

A huge glowing portal suddenly appeared at the port. Azer was in front of the portal riding a horse. Zenia and the others aboard the ship were startled.

"No, this can't be…" Duke Gordon ran to the deck of the ship and couldn't believe that it was really a portal.

Azer had told him once that he was trying to perfect a teleportation portal that could transport anyone and anything to the target destination. The last they had a talk, Azer could only teleport at a distance of one meter. It was also one of the reasons why Azer wanted him to join them.

Azer kept the secret about the teleportation portal from the Dark Magic Lord. He was recruiting Duke Gordon for his personal gains. In Duke Gordon's calculations, it was impossible to create the teleportation portal that could transport anyone from a great distance.

"Men, get that man for me! He's the one we need!" Azer pointed at the ship where Zenia and the others were staying.

Duke Gordon followed the direction where Azer was pointing his finger. He discovered that Azer was actually pointing at Vaughn!

'Did he know already?'

Rodham followed his Young Master when ran to the deck and saw Azer.

"Young Duke, how come they are here already?"

"That portal transported them. They must've escaped from Willard and his men. They are after Young Madam's husband."

The master and servant did not waste another minute and ran back to where Zenia and Vaughn were standing. Uncle Ross prepared for battle when Azer and his minions, as well as the secret soldiers, assumed a battle stance.

Duke Gordon was baffled when he saw Azer and his party did not move a single step outside of the portal. It was like they were being barred from going out of the portal, but they could still use their magic.

"Young Madam, they want to get your husband!" Rodham came running, but it was too late.

Azer ordered his minions to channel their dark magic toward Vaughn and trapped him within the circular ray of light. He was lifted and carried off from the ship. Everything happened so fast and before Zenia could act, Vaughn was already floating toward Azer's direction.

"What's happening? What do you want to do with my husband?" Zenia shouted at the top of her voice.

Azer smirked and signaled his troop to be at ease. Vaughn was still floating above them. He could not move his body. Azer bound him with a restraining chain spell. Later, he made him lose consciousness.

"Young Madam we meet again. I never thought that your husband is the one that we have been searching for all this time. I just realized it when we began to fight. That kid was really telling the truth. I'm just glad that I'm not too late."

"You still did not answer my question. What do you want to do with my husband?" Zenia tried to buy some time as she racked her brains out on how to help Vaughn.

Duke Gordon had been observing the portal for quite some time. He knew that it was impossible for Azer to perfect it. There should be a weak spot somewhere.

"We need his life force to complete the spell that we need. His pure spirit is the only thing that can make it complete."

"By life force, you mean you are going to kill him?"

"Not necessarily, Madam. But, he could be in a vegetative state after that. It is up to his ability to recover or remain in that state until he dies."

"I will not allow you to do that."

Duke Gordon finally found the weakness of the portal. In his calculations, a strong force could make the portal collapse when the center was hit. He found the center exactly where Azer's horse was standing. Azer must've known and tried to conceal it. He underestimated the Young Duke's ability.

"Ha-ha-ha, there's nothing you can do now, Madam. You won't be able to reach us."

Zenia got a spear and threw it at Vaughn's direction to knock him down. But, the spear disappeared as soon as it reached the circular ray of light.

"Young Madam, aim at the direction of Azer's horse. That should make the portal collapse."

"I got it. Thunderbolt!"

Thunderbolt walked toward Zenia, who removed her fat belly in front of everyone. She was wearing tight-fitting clothing underneath just in case she had no other choice but to lose her fat belly. Her lean, slightly muscular body was revealed.

Zenia jumped on Thunderbolt and made him walk farther away from the plank. She also removed the prosthetic on her face and picked up another spear.

Her back was on everyone when she spoke to Uncle Ross, "When that portal failed to collapse, you need to ready the cannon and attack the portal with everything you got."

"What about the people around this area?"

"I believe they won't be harmed when you fire the cannon toward the portal. The cannonball will go directly inside the portal and hit the enemies."

Zenia whispered in Thunderbolt's ear, "Please help me save my husband, brother…"

Thunderbolt neighed and ran toward the plank and jumped. Zenia looked back as the sun shone so bright behind her beautiful face.

"I'll get Vaughn back, grandpa," she smiled with utmost confidence.

Everyone who saw her was bewildered. Duke Gordon, Rodham, and Jorick thought that it was one of the most beautiful faces that they had ever seen. That smile was definitely the most dazzling of all.

Thunderbolt jumped so high as Zenia turned to face Vaughn. The sun gave her hair a different kind of glow. Jorick, Duke Gordon, and Roy blinked their eyes when they saw a glimpse of strands of golden flame. When they blinked their eyes again, it was already gone.

None of them spoke of what they saw. Each one of them did not want others to think that they were losing it. They concluded that they just kept thinking about the prophecy that they ended up having hallucinations.

Zenia never felt as helpless and scared as she did at the time. She felt her heart was tearing apart at the thought of not seeing Vaughn again or not spending time with him once more. She knew that she was impulsive and did not pay much attention to Vaughn's safety. Was it because she believed that he was already stronger than her, and no one would be able to take him down?

She bit her lip for being naïve. Her husband had been protecting her all throughout the journey. Her stubbornness had put her husband in danger time and again. She promised herself that she would not let anything dangerous to happen to Vaughn ever again.

Zenia tossed the spear to change her grip. She threw the spear with all her strength and shouted with all her might.

"Let go of my husband!"

The spear landed on the exact spot that Duke Gordon had suggested. But, the portal just shook up a bit. Uncle Ross did not wait for something to happen and ordered his men to ready the cannon.

"Fire!"

The cannonball hit the same spot where the spear had landed. The circular ray of light that enshrouded Vaughn was slowly disappearing. Zenia and Thunderbolt were already following the downward trajectory when Vaughn was finally released from his prison.

"Thunderbolt!" Zenia jumped off her horse and caught her husband in mid-air.

Thunderbolt ran quickly to the ship and jumped off from the plank to catch Zenia and Vaughn. He understood what his master wanted him to do. Vaughn lost consciousness and was not aware of the event that took place.

Uncle Ross noticed that the portal was still intact even though Azer and his men were trying their best to keep it open.

"Ready the other cannons!"

Azer's complexion became pale when he heard the order. The first cannonball was already too much for them to handle. It was their first time to encounter such a deadly weapon. Their magic could not even stop it in time.

"Withdraw!" Azer ordered his men, and the portal finally closed.

Everything returned to normal like nothing big had happened. Vaughn was still unconscious when Thunderbolt headed back to the ship.

Uncle Ross ordered some men to carry Vaughn to a room where he could rest. Zenia followed behind. Roy could not believe that Wolstan's great-granddaughter-in-law was a beautiful, slim young woman. On top of that, she was also the Junior Commander of the Military Unit of Ishelon.

Duke Gordon could only look at Zenia from afar. He was afraid that he might not be able to turn away when he got near her. Rodham sighed and left his Young Master alone for a while.

Outside, Prince Roland witnessed how Zenia caught Vaughn in mid-air. He had no idea what the portal was, but he recognized Azer. He went to the port as fast as he could when he saw a bright light suddenly appeared. More importantly, he finally found the young lady whom he had met in Venetia before. This time, he had decided not to let her go. He would do everything in his power to obtain her.

"Find out the identity of the woman who jumped out of Ishelon's ship earlier."

"Yes, Your Highness."

A beautiful, gentle smile flashed across Roland's lips, "We will meet again soon, Young Lady."
