Chapter 41: Chapter 7 Homeless Man

Recently, Grande Funeral Home has been overwhelmed by chores. The construction of the abandoned mill and the purchase of the cremation facility, and they must also consider recruiting new employees. Although Zach didn’t do anything himself, and he simply let Madison handle it, Madison, who had just joined the Grande family, was still in the process finding out the temper of the boss, so whenever there was something that needed to be decided by Zach, he would still go to ask Zach.

I have to say that it is because of this, I developed the habit of asking him questions…

To Zach’s surprise, Grande Funeral Home seemed to have become the focus of attention. Thanks to an article in the Barton Daily on Monday about traditional funerals. Of course, this kind of report that targets social phenomena and then invites all parties to express their opinions does not have any practical significance for the thing itself. Obviously, the reporters did not discover any ‘conspiracy’, and then came up with such a thing, so they can find out the direction of public interests. This kind of method is also called “fishing.”

When it was discovered that a large number of people had started to reserve a tomb at Grande Funeral Home, Barton Daily spent a lot of time to praise the Mayor of Barton for defending the ‘right to choose’ for the citizens, Bla blah blah…

Being occupied by chores, Zach didn’t notice that James had not called in for a few days.

After the incident of the shapeshifter was resolved, James would often call and ask for the assistance of the Grande family. Just like when they met Madison. The two sides worked cooperatively to eliminate all nonhumans who had entered Barton because of rumors.

James didn’t call again, partly because he no longer trusted Zach. With Madison’s example, James realized that he can’t give Zach a chance to grow his force. But the more important reason was that James had no time for “private business”, and he had a hunch that his secret mission and his work were intersected.

“You better tell the truth!”

This is a dark alley in the northern district of Barton City. The light of the street lights is blocked by the buildings on both sides, and the shabby cardboards and trash cans form the homes of homeless men. Detective Coulson was holding a ten Dor bill in his hand, “If I find out that you are lying, I don’t mind taking you away for obstruction of justice!”

“Dude!” The homeless quickly snatched the money from Coulson and said, “please take me away now. At least there are four complete walls in the police station!”

“Humph!” Coulson snorted coldly, with his hands pushing away his coat, arms akimbo, exposing half of the holster on his waist, “Now tell me what you saw.”

The homeless man took the money, and then began to narrate slightly nervously: “Every night, the person who lives on the fourth floor would always drop some bread.” The homeless man looked up the escape ladder and pointed up, “But yesterday, that person did not do it. I was very angry! I wanted to go up there and talk to him! Doug told me to forget it! But how could I forget it! I had not even had my dinner!”

James and Coulson looked at each other, the disgust in their eyes could not be concealed.

“I know I was right!” the homeless man said proudly. “Now I’m still alive, just because I went up to talk to him!” He pointed to the top, and then his eyes suddenly became horrified, and his dirty hands put on his lips as if he was an actor: “That’s when I saw that guy!”

“So you were looking down from the top?” James shook his head: “You didn’t see his appearance at all!”

“Of course I couldn’t see it! It was night, and it was so dark here! Even if I didn’t go up there, I still could not see his face!” The mind of the homeless man was surprisingly logical.

Coulson waved his hand and signaled his partner not to rush him, “what did you see?”

“He, no! It! It lifted open my bed directly!” The homeless man angrily pointed at the tattered cardboard beside him, and then showed a trace of complacency: “Thankfully, I was not here. He lifted open Doug’s place again and pulled Doug out,” the homeless pointed to the other side of the alley, and his face became more complacent: “Then, then ate Doug!”

“What?” Coulson’s eyes widened, “What the hell are you talking about!” Coulson didn’t mind the dirty stains on the homeless man. He pushed away his hand and was about to snatch the ten Dor he hid in his trousers.

James pulled away Coulson, who had lost ten Dor for nothing, and asked the homeless man who tightly guarded his buttocks, “What is it, an animal? Dogs, wolves, or something like that?”

“Of course not! Have you ever seen a dog wearing clothes? !” The homeless man said in a tone like he was talking to an idiot, “It’s a person! A man! A very strong man! Doug didn’t even make a sound!”

“Let’s go!” Coulson broke away from James’s hand. “It’s a waste of time here!”

James sighed helplessly, and no longer cared about the nervous homeless man, and left the alley with Coulson. But Coulson did not really leave, but knocked on the door of the building on the side of the alley with James. They wanted to confirm if there was a guy named Doug who was always in this area.

After a simple interview, the two returned to their car. The expressions of the two detectives were not very good. It has been confirmed that there were indeed two homeless people here. One of them was the guy with some mental problem, and the other was Doug who was said to be eaten.

“You can go home first.” James looked at his partner. “You should go home to accompany Mrs. Coulson and the kid. I can keep eyes on this place.”

Coulson stared at his partner for a while. He wondered why his partner suddenly became like a different person. Compared with the guy who only knew to eat in the first week, James was much more reliable now. Such doubts, destined to lead nowhere, were soon put away by Coulson, who frowned and shook his head: “No, it’s too dangerous. He is very likely to come back. I don’t believe the bullshit that the guy said, but the murderer has the ability to get rid of Doug quietly, obviously, he is not an easy person to deal with! ”

The case began with a report that a homeless man who had often appeared in the area, went missing. With the unsolved prostitute death some time ago, Barton police department was very nervous, not to mention the chief Cologne and Detective Coulson, who knew the existence of ‘David’.

On the official record, David was missing. The party that reported missing was Barton Telecom that noticed David didn’t turn up for work, but actually he had been taken out by Benjamin. This was only known to James and the Mayor, but the two obviously would not speak out. Not knowing the truth, The Barton Police Department, Cologne, and even Coulson, naturally linked the prostitutes’ case and the homeless man case together.

In the eyes of the police, perhaps at some point in the future, they would discover the remains of the missing homeless man just like those prostitutes.

James sighed in his heart because he knew that the two cases were completely different and that the homeless man with mental problems was likely telling the truth…

Zach once reminded James to be careful and remember to protect himself. Because there must be some reasons for the nonhumans that existed at the bottom of the nonhuman society to be rejected by its original society and look for a new place to stay.

In terms of what reasons they were, James could easily figure out that it was definitely not some good things.
