Chapter 135 - Benjamins Warehouse

Chapter 135: Chapter 4 Benjamin’s Warehouse

In Benjamin’s warehouse, Lola was chatting with Alice on the second floor, and Benjamin and Matthew were working below.

The warehouse that collapsed before would not be automatically repaired, so the two were working on rebuilding, and it would be completed in just a few days. Previously, all the stuff in the warehouse was kept in a haphazard way; so since they were going to rebuild it this time, the two decided to make some shelves to sort out all the stuff.

It was just that Lola was here, so Benjamin could only use the normal human speed.

Zach leaned against the door frame under the second floor, watching Benjamin helplessly picking up a bundle of parts from the shelf and walking to the warehouse. There was a thumping running sound over his head. As Zach looked up, Lola’s head had already popped out from the second-story window, following Benjamin who was only wearing a vest.

Zach smiled and stood inside the door, hiding his body in the shadow, looking at Matthew who was making something with tools.

“I’m making a ladder.” Matthew thought that Zach was watching him work, and honestly stretched out his hand and made an outline in the air, “I want to add wheels underneath to make it easier to move.”

“Great, please carry on.” Zach expressed encouragement, and then he brought a chair to sit down and swayed leisurely after leaning against the haystack.

It didn’t take long for voices to appear from above. It seemed that Benjamin had already entered the warehouse, and Lola continued to chat with Alice.

“By the way, do you remember what I told you before about the newly married couple from the Quest family? The couple that suddenly disappeared and came back again.”

“Mhm.” Alice replied a little absent-mindedly. She has been like this recently. Her mind has been occupied by other things. Most of the morning, Lola was talking to herself and Alice would give a few short responses absentmindedly to indicate that she was listening.

Seeing Alice absent minded, Lola spoke faster and lowered her voice. She approached Alice mysteriously. The girl wanted to attract the attention of her friend with content and exaggerated gestures, “You know, there’s nothing in the newspapers. But I know. Guess what happened to them?”

“Mhm.” Alice nodded, as if agreeing. Usually, this trick would work well, because most of the time Lola talked about how difficult the teacher was, how annoying some girls were, how naive some boy was… As long as the banshee agreed, Lola would be very happy.

“Alice!” Lola pressed the banshee’s shoulder, “Are you listening or not!”

“Huh?” Alice looked up in confusion, looked at Lola’s complaining look, and lowered her head apologetically, “Oh, I’m sorry, I was distracted.”

“What’s the matter with you? You have been like the whole day.” Lola let go of her hands holding Alice’s shoulder, “Did you read that diary again? ! I told you, stop reading it!”

As a friend, Lola was a really good one.

Seeing that there was a sudden reaction in Alice’s eyes, Lola was even more certain. She jumped up from Benjamin’s bed and rushed to the stairs.

“Lola! Where are you going?” Alice was surprised to see her friend had run down the stairs.

“Is that diary in your room? !” Lola didn’t look back, she continued to run down while holding the spiral handrail with one hand, shouting, “I’m going to throw it away!”

Alice hurriedly stood up and ran down the stairs, “Lola, no, I didn’t read it! It’s something else!”

Zach leaned on the haystack and watched Lola, who had stepped down the stairs. The black dress prepared for the funeral was tightened with her legs apart. She turned her head suspiciously and looked at Alice who was running down the stairs anxiously, “Really? What is it then?”

Lola was already very familiar with Alice’s life. This girl who never went out would not encounter a teacher with a ‘butt’ chin forcing her to hand in an essay, nor would there be any jealous girls inexplicably slander her; moreover, no boys who thought they were handsome would harass her!

The only thing that Lola could think of was the diary of “the former owner of the family that adopted Alice” that she saw occasionally before and that Alice was reading. Although Alice at the time seemed to have already let it go, if there was one thing high school had taught Lola, it was the fact — the fact — that the family had abandoned her!

Alice walked down the stairs, pursing her lips, as if she didn’t know how to explain. She saw Zach sitting on the side, and looked at this ‘elder brother’ as if asking for help.

Zach sighed in his heart and waved to Alice, “Alice, I’ve been busy all morning, I’m hungry.”

“Then I will go prepare for lunch.” Alice let out a sigh of relief and looked at Lola who had already glared at Zach.

“I will help.” Lola glared at this ‘Alice’s other brother’, then turned around and pulled Alice and walked outside.

“No, no need.” Alice let go of Lola’s hand and persuaded her friend, “Your current dress… it’s better not to go to the kitchen.”

Lola looked at her clothes and nodded helplessly. This was not her usual casual clothes, but the corresponding dress for attending various formal occasions. If there was something on it, her grandma would definitely be angry!

The girl glared at Zach again, and could only let Alice go.

“Lola.” Zach laughed at himself and waved to Mrs. Barton’s granddaughter, “You want to know why Alice is in a bad mood, you can also ask me.”

“No thanks!” Lola glanced at Zach. Lola was not interested in this pale-faced guy. Although he was in line with most people’s aesthetics, Lola didn’t like this type by nature. Even Matthew, whose vest was soaked with sweat and stuck onto his body, was much better than Zach in the eyes of Lola!

Lola rolled her eyes and walked to Matthew who was handling a bunch of items, “She will tell me when she wants to!”

Zach raised his eyebrows, and the plan of exchanging information was so dead. It seemed that he had to find other ways to know the information that was not even reported in the newspapers.

“What are you doing?” Lola squatted next to Matthew, already changed her mood, looking curiously at the pile of things on the ground.

Matthew moved his body a little nervously, “I want to make a base for a ladder and install wheels, but I don’t know how to make an axle that can rotate the wheels in all directions. ”

“Oh.” Watching Matthew’s clumsy gestures, Lola started to lose interest, but she still gave advice, “Why do you have to do it yourself? You can just buy one.”

Matthew blinked, and said blankly, “I didn’t think of it.”

Letting out a sigh, she stood up boredly, looking around boredly.

“Stop looking around.” Zach beckoned to Lola, “Let’s have a chat!”

“What do you want to chat about!” Lola looked at Zach irritably.

Zach didn’t plan to use any abnormal means, and asked directly, “I just heard you talk about the Quest family. Haven’t they been found long ago? The newspapers have also reported it.”

“You eavesdropped on our talk!” Lola glared at Zach. Everyone was so familiar with each other that the girl didn’t even say “another brother” anymore, instead, she used “you” and “hey”.

Zach pointed to the top of his head helplessly. It was just a layer of wooden planks. This was originally a warehouse. There were no closed rooms at all. The second floor was also completely open. One could directly see the first floor from the second floor, so it was not eavesdropping. “Matthew heard it too, right?”

“Mhm.” Matthew has temporarily put down the wheel and started to work on the base. Hearing his boss speak, he responded.

Zach shrugged, “You can’t just arouse our curiosity and stop talking about it, right? Matthew.”

Matthew raised his head, he just happened to see Lola’s glaring eyes, but still, it was the boss, Zach, who was speaking, so he lowered his head and responded again.

Lola rolled her eyes, “Fine, it will be in the newspaper in a few days anyway.” Then her mood fell again. She pulled a chair and sat on the side, watching Matthew making parts, “They are going to the sanatorium.”

“sanatorium?” Zach raised his eyebrows. “Have they not recovered yet?”

“No, I heard from my grandmother that it seems very serious. Quest has already signed the hospital admission agreement and they will be sent over in just a few days. It seems that their servants were injured, and then…” Lola suddenly raised her voice, “Don’t tell others about this!”

“We won’t.” Zach asked seriously, “Then what happened?”

Lola rolled her eyes at Zach, apparently, because of Zach’s nosiness, her impression of him worsened again. But Lola was also a girl who loved gossip, otherwise, she wouldn’t say this to Alice!

“Then the union received a complaint.”

A union was a kind of free civil organization, usually composed of people of the same profession. Filling a complaint to a union had no legal significance. It was just a matter of having all the people in the same profession blacklist someone at the same time, so it was very important! So when the union receives a complaint, they must get an explanation as soon as possible, otherwise, just wait for the strike!

“How were they injured?” Zach was not interested in the complaint. In his memory, Neil and Tiffany were tightly bound, it was impossible for them to touch people, let alone injure one. Unless they needed to stay awake, normally, they must be controlled by drugs.

“How would I know!” Lola tilted her head, “I heard that originally, they were in the hospital, but I don’t know why, they were taken home by Quest.”

Zach scratched his chin.

“But it was good at first, and nothing happened. The day before yesterday, Quest had some guests and then something happened suddenly.” Lola shrugged.

Zach lowered his eyes and thought for a while, “Did Mrs. Barton tell you?”

Lola felt embarrassed and said, “No, I heard it when my grandma was chatting with the caregiver.”

Zach pursed his lips, so the message was passed by the people in the union. No matter how you look at it, this union belonging to servants was not a strict organization. Zach frowned, thought for a moment, and was relieved again. No wonder the old people like Quinn and Barton were so well-informed. It turned out that this was how they got the information. If that was the case, he didn’t need to worry.
