Section 1 (Reincarnation・Enrolment in the Academy)

[Umph. Umph.]

I spread out the hem of my clothes and gathered the leaves from the garden.

No matter how you look at it, I’m a three-year-old child.

While taking action like this, I was thinking of something else in my mind.

Conclusion.

It seems that this is a different world after all.

On the night of that ritual. When I returned from the basement to the magnificent mansion above, I looked up at the sky to check the constellations.

And then I saw two moons. I had already guessed from the vicinity.

According to the wisdom of ancient Greece, the Earth is a sphere that rotates on its own.

Since Japan is on the opposite side of the spherical surface, I was supposed to see a different starry sky……As for the moon, I was thinking about where it was supposed to be seen in orbit. Let alone two moons, there is no way that it will increase in numbers.

After that, I listened attentively to my family’s conversations over the next few days but I have never ever heard of the names of the places, countries and so forth that I know of.

I had no choice but to think that this is already a different world I had come to.

The only requirement for reincarnation was a body that can recreate the structure of my soul. That was all.

That’s why I didn’t know in the slightest where I would be born…….I didn’t think it would be a different world.

A key is necessary to use the signature to move between worlds but does the situation of the soul matter? No, it’s pointless to even think about it.

I regained my composure and gathered more information.

My name in this world is Seika・Lamprogue.

Lamprogue is a Count family. In other words, a noble family.

Despite the fact that I am the third son, this was a stroke of luck.

If I had been born as a commoner like in my previous life, there is nothing I can do if I died from a plague at once.

However, it seems to be a wealthy and developed country to begin with.

At least more than Japan. Perhaps on par with the likes of the Song Dynasty, Islam, Eastern Roman Empire, or maybe more than that.

There are many things that I don’t understand.

I need to gather more information.

[Umph. Umph.]

I carried the leaves I had gathered to the shade of the tree.

When I let go of the hem of my clothes, the leaves fell to the ground with a rustle.

Hmm. This much is enough for the time being.

[————ओम् पाञ्चालिका विधि स्वाहा.]

I chanted a short mantra.

Then, all of the leaves that had fallen to the ground floated up from the ground, exposing their veins to me. I collected all those leaves together and wrote letters using my spiritual power.

[……I did it.]

I issued simple instructions and leaves flew in every direction. I confirmed the effect by watching. I guess it’s passable.

It’s simple but the shikigami is complete.

This frame will become my eyes and ears, hands and feet. In fact, it would be best to make the dolls from paper but paper is like a valuable commodity in this world so I can’t afford to be extravagant.

I guess I will prepare for it, step by step.

Give one-third the form of a crow and release it into the sky.

Give one-third the form of a mouse and release it to the fields.

I decided to make the rest invisible and keep them close by. The talisman can be used as a substitute for the formula, serving as a medium for the technique and is useful in many other ways.

[Hey, Seika! What are you doing out here!]

I turned around in shock at the boisterous voice.

Standing behind me was a child with a mean look on his face.

It was my brother, who was three years older, Gurai.

[I saw it. You have been gathering leaves. Disgusting! What’s the point in collecting all that stuff? Hmm? Hey, where are the leaves?]

I was relieved when I saw Gurai looking around nearby. He didn’t seem to have seen what I was doing moments ago.

No matter what it takes, I have to keep my previous life a secret.

[Say something, you failure!]

Getting irritated by my silence, Gurai kicked dirt at me.

I didn’t say a word and brushed the dirt away. But he was such a stupid brat. I feel even more so because my disciples were nothing but good children.

The father doesn’t care much about the children and the mother has a tendency to pamper. He is terribly selfish probably because maids will turn up for his everyday life but my older brother is still decent though.

[……Stop it, Brother Gurai.]

When I said that, Gurai gave a smile that curled the corner of his mouth.

[Please stop it, okay? The way you speak is unacceptable. You don’t think you’re in the same position as me and Brother Luft, do you?]

[It’s different?]

[Of course, it’s different. After all, you’re not a person from the main family!]

I tilted my head in confusion. What does that mean?

[The maids said so. You are the son of a mistress! That’s why you’re a failure, you don’t even have the slightest bit of magical power!]

I see. It finally made sense to me.

When I thought about it, I had a feeling that my mother was ignoring me, so that was the case. The maids also treated her as if she were a tumour, even my father and older brother were so distant.

It was useful information. Thank you, Gurai-kun.

But seeing that I’m being raised in this house, I’m considered as a real member of the main family.

[Do you understand? You’re in a position where you must listen to what our older brother and I say! ……That’s right, I am practising martial arts now. You can be my guinea pig for a while.]

As he said this, Gurai smirked while stepping backwards bit-by-bit as if he was adding a run-up.

[Ready? Stay where you are!]

As soon as Gurai shouted, he came running towards me.

Was he also planning to inflict a flying kick? I have never seen anyone do that in a fight before but please forgive me.

I sent one of my shikigami that I made invisible under his foot.

Then, Gurai stumbled over it and conspicuously fell flat on his face.

Yikes, that looks painful.

[Bwah! Th-this……!]

It looks like he was still heading towards me so I called back the two shikigami crows I had sent out earlier

The crows squeaked while swooping down at Gurai and began to peck on his head with their thick beaks.

[Uwah, wh-what the heck are these guys?]

Gurai flailed his arms around to resist for a while but eventually, he cowered while protecting his head and began to cry out loudly.

I felt a little sorry for him. It was indeed too much for a child.

When I thought so and was about to withdraw the shikigami crows,

[Gurai!!]

There was the voice of another child.

I saw our eldest brother, Luft, run up to Gurai holding a stick.

[Stop, stop, this!]

Luft swung a stick to chase the crows away.

The crows seemed to flinch and the two of them flew away together.

Or rather I did so.

[Gurai, are you okay? Any injuries?]

He worried about his younger brother who was crying his eyes out. Luft has a decent personality compared to the second son and he is only older than me by five years. He was mature indeed. Although, he’s only eight years old.

[Why would the crows…… Seikai, are you all right?]

[Yes. I’m fine, Brother Luft.]

When I replied and smiled in return, Luft seemed to look at me weirdly.

It’s understandable. It was strange that I’m the only one who wasn’t attacked.

But that was it.

Luft took Gurai, who still had not stopped crying, back to the mansion to treat his injuries.

And I was left alone.

Although I got interrupted, I was able to release the shikigami. With this, gathering information would become much easier.

There are many things that I must do.

But with this three-year-old body, there is only so much I can do. Let’s make use of at least a few years’ time to prepare.

Since I still have a long way to go in this life.
