Volume 5 - CH 5

After the dinner, that evening.

Returning to my room at the mansion for the first time in a while, I took a break.

There is no dust in the room. It seemed that the servants had cleaned the room before we returned.

“Fu … Anyway, the Princess of this country, is a strange woman.”

Yuki comes out of my hair and says something tiredly.

After that, Fiona showed a lot of mystery and made the dining table have an indescribable atmosphere.

Yuki blurts out, a bit grumpily.

“Yuki hates women like that.”

“I’m sure you do.”

“Seika-sama, you even picked up such playful words that seem like they came from someone sucking the smoke of cannabis.”

“It would be more awkward if no one picked it up.”

”That’s true, but …… I’d say you seemed  kind of used to it. ……”

“Hmm … that’s right.”

“ I’m going  to bed. It’s time  to get some sleep for tomorrow.”

The door of the room was suddenly flung open.

“Seika?”

I almost jumped out of my skin.

The door opened completely just after Yuki, who was also startled, rushed into my hair.

I tell the girl who opens the door.

“Am, Amiyu…… at least knock on the door……”

“You’re too surprised. What were you doing?”

Saying somewhat dismissively, Amiyu entered the room.

Then she falls straight onto my bed.

“Huh”

She buried her face in the pillow. The hem of her  night gown fluttered up and fell.

I usually only see them in their uniforms, so it’s kind of refreshing.

I do, however, have a complaint.

“You know, to come alone to a man’s room late at night ……”

“What? Are you going to tell me to be more modest?”

Amiyu glares sideways through the gaps in the pillow.

“It doesn’t matter. You’ve seen me naked once.”

“Well, ah, that was unavoidable… or rather, don’t neglect my concern for not mentioning that time until now.”

“Ahaha. What’s with  that?”

Amiyu laughed pleasantly and turned over on her side to face me.

“So what’s this about all of a sudden?”

“ I was feeling a little tired, so I came to visit.”

“I’m sorry …….ffor  bringing you to the Princess without telling you.”

“You don’t have to worry about it. If I’d heard she was there, I probably would have come still.”

Amiyu says sincerely.

“It sounds like you nobles have a lot on your plates.”

“You finally get it.”

“You had nothing to do with that.”

“Well, yes, but ……”

“I’m glad I came. There are a lot of aristocratic children at the school, but there were many things I couldn’t understand just by listening to what they had to say.”

“I’m glad you didn’t graduate without knowing it.”

“What was that, you’re so full of it”

I grabbed the pillow that Amiyu had thrown.

It would be dangerous if it hits the light.

“…… hey.”

That’s when Amiyu dropped the tone of her voice a bit.

“Have you decided what you’re going to do when you graduate from Elementary?”

“huh……”

“I don’t want to be a government official. You seem to like studying, so are you going to go on to higher education?　Or do you want to come back to the estate and help run the business?　With your achievements in Astilia, you could apprentice yourself to a well-known naturalist and continue your studies elsewhere.”

“… What will you do, Amiyu ?”

“Me?　I’m …… going home after all and continuing to be an adventurer.”

Amiyu laughs and says.

“Our classmates say they want to be officials, scholars, marry noblemen and live a good life, but …… I can’t imagine myself like that in the future at all.”

“……..”

“It seems like my dad and mom would say it’s a waste, but it’s okay. I think it was worth coming to the school just so I knew it wasn’t for me! Now I can say with confidence that I’m an adventurer. “

“…… I see.”

I muttered quietly.

This child has also grown up. From the bleak appearance she had two years ago when I met her at the entrance examination, I could not imagine her talking about her future with such ease and without hesitation.

Somehow, it reminds me of the days I spent with my apprentice in a previous life.

“So … what are you going to do?”

I laugh and say to Amiyu, who asks timidly.

“In that underground dungeon where you suddenly took off your clothes …”

“Oh, come on, that’s enough.”

“We had a deal. We promised to go on another adventure together.”

“….!…”

“I’m going to be an adventurer, too.”

“Because …”

Amiyu, on the bed, says, looking away.

“I didn’t take that promise seriously …… You have your own life to live. ……”

“I was serious, though.”

“….”

“I can’t imagine myself as a …… scholar or a territory manager, either. I’m more suited to roughing it. It’s true.”

“You don’t look like that at all.”

“I wonder wh,? It’s strange even for me.”

“Hmm …”

“But I don’t know much about adventurers, just as you didn’t know much about nobility. So when we graduate …..will you teach me?”

“It  can’t be helped!”

With a smug smile on her face, Amiyu suddenly stood up from the bed.

“Well, I promise you one more time.”

She puts her hands on her hips and says in a regal tone.

“Let’s go on another adventure together.”

I laugh and answer.

“Yeah, I promise.”

“Hmm.”

Amiyu jumps off the bed in a good mood, puts back on her shoes and puts her hand on the doorknob.

“Good night, Seika.”

“Are you going to sleep?”

“No, I’m going to Mabel’s or Ifa’s.”

“Oh, yeah.”

You’re doing fine.

Just as Amiyu leaves the room, and the signs of Amiyu’s departure move away from the hallway, Yuki appears from above my head.

“Seika-sama. Do you still remember ……?”.

Yuki says quietly.

“Seika is by her side … because she is a hero. To hide your power behind her’s and use it as an umbrella.”

“Ah.”

I respond to Yuki in the same tone as before.

“How could I forget?”
