The griffons were making their way toward the castle. In total, three.
After some time, the archers gathered at Alexei’s location and kneeled, waiting for his instruction.
“I am fine on my own. Stay back!”
Alexei used magic to send the knights flying to the wall. Their armour made a clanging sound as they hit the wall.
(The emperor is quite a hot-tempered person-pe. How scary. Are the knights alright-dabe? That was a loud sound-pe!)
After checking on the condition of the knights, Eleonora furrowed her eyebrows.
“…Your Highness. Were the knights possibly planning to shoot arrows at the magical beasts?” asked Eleonora, seeing the bows and arrows scattered about after the knights hit the wall.
(Even though they didn’t do anything wrong. Why were they going to shoot-pe?!)
Alexei was puzzled by her question.
“You don’t seem like you’re afraid of magical beasts…”
Alexei looked into her violet eyes questioningly. Then he remembered Pie’s eyes that were covered by her skin.
When he asked her what colour her eyes were, she lifted her skin and said, “I don’t know what colour eyes I have so you look and tell me Ham-chan.”
Those eyes were the same as Eleonora’s violet eyes.
“…What reason is there to be afraid? The magical beasts from the Magic Forest never went to any place humans inhabited.”
“Why do you say that? Before the saintess eradicated all the magical beasts, there were military bases stationed across the cardinal directions of the forest. Wasn’t that because the magical beasts were leaving the forest? To humans, magical beasts are nothing but a menace.”
She nodded.
“…I know. But the magical beasts wouldn’t leave on their own.”
Alexei’s eyes widened at her response.
“You seem like you know a lot about magical beasts.”
(Oh shoot-pe. I indeed know about magical beasts-be. They were my friends and children after all. But he definitely wouldn’t believe me if I said I have memories from my past life. Since the god of this nation said that people’s souls go to heaven after they die. There’s no one like me-be.)
Though she was troubled and didn’t know how to respond, the knights yelled, signaling the approach of the magical beasts, and they all looked toward the sky.
The griffon was coming closer.
(That griffon is Guri-chan-pe!)
The knights went to grab their bows, but their movements were sealed by Alexei.
(The emperor is good at magic-pe! Ham-chan told me his magic was sealed-pe. He said if your body doesn’t match the amount of magic you have then it could overwhelm you. Even though it’s only a little, I can now make a small flame! I wanna show Ham-chan.)
The three griffons landed on the roof where they were.
The next moment.
“Guri-chan!”
Eleonora got up from her seat and spread her arms out to hug the griffon.
“Guri-chan, who are these children-pe? Could it be, did you get married and have children?”
The griffon named Guri-chan cried out as if in reply.
“I see, I see! This is your husband, and this is your son-dabe. Well, how cute! You came to show me, didn’t you-pe? You knew where I was, huh-be?”
The griffon cried out once again as if in response, and Eleonora nodded in understanding.
“I see, you could tell where I was from the scent of my soul-dabe. Man, you’re amazing Guri-chan. Cute, cool, and clever-pe.”
Alexei confirmed it.
Eleonora is Pie. Pie was reborn.
“Pie!”
Alexei called out Pie’s name to Eleonora. Hearing this, she turned around.
“How do you know my name…”
After realizing she had been speaking with her dialect, Eleonora covered her mouth.
(Oh no-pe! I messed up. That wasn’t ladylike-be! I’ve really done it now!)
“Are you Pie?” asked Alexei, looking as though he was going to cry.
(Why does the emperor know my name-pe? Perhaps Ham-chan told him about me-dabe? Like I thought, they are close relatives-pe! That means I can meet Ham-chan!)
“…You might not believe me, but I have memories of my past life.”
Alexei approached Eleonora and extended his hand to her.
“You really are Pie.”
Eleonora quietly nodded in reply.
Their surroundings were noisy as the bell once again rang out.
Eleonora’s eyes shined as she was surrounded by the three griffons.
Certainly, Eleonora is Pie.
