Chapter Twenty-Nine: Rosa Wants to Protect the Moe Icons (IV)
“Something I’d like to ask you?”
“That’s right. It’s just the two of us now. I’ll answer any question.”
“Even if you say that, I don’t have anything specific I’d like to inquire about…”
“There you go lying again. Didn’t you come with me because you wanted to talk to me?”
Rosa’s bewilderment was accentuated by what Kamil said.
Rosa had imagined Kamil had come to her rescue from the difficult circumstance, but it would seem that Kamil had other plans.
Rosa didn’t have any specific questions for Kamil, but she felt obligated to do so because she had seemingly accepted his invitation.
Questions. Questions… Yes! I should confirm how he feels about Moe Bern… No, wait! There’s something even more important!
Rosa struggled to come up with questions to ask when she recalled an essential one.
It was critical to determine if it was safe to assume Kamil was a top.
I automatically put him in the top category when I met him when designing the Ultimate Bottom Bernando plan, but now that I’ve seen his true nature, I’m not sure if he can genuinely be classed as a top.
This knowledge was essential given the situation they were about to encounter Ladu in.
“Then…”
Rosa took a long time to come up with words, so the two of them were already standing outside Ladu’s room.
Rosa looked at Kamil, who had his hand on the doorknob and had turned around to face her.
Due to the light, his dull blond hair and amber eyes took on a golden tint.
Kamil had a lovely face that was worthy of his position as a high-ranking noble, despite his lack of the grandeur of a king.
He appeared to be a watered-down version of Leon.
In other words, if His Highness Leon’s top value is 500, then Kamil’s is 350…
When it came to this instance, Kamil was unquestionably a top.
However, Rosa thought he might also be seen as a bottom when contrasted to Leon.
Wait… Although I’d want to ask him, the phrases ‘bottom’ and ‘top’ are entirely my fabrication. They aren’t exactly common notions. I’m not sure how I’m going to describe them…
Rosa was agonizing alone when Kamil pressed her in a soothing voice.
“Lady Rosa?”
“Uhm… I don’t want this to come off as rude, but, Sir Kamil, if you had to choose, would you like to be above or below His Highness Leon?”
Kamil’s eyes widened slightly in front of Rosa, who had inquired bluntly because she had been cornered.
In the next moment, however, Kamil smiled gently.
“Look at you asking, like you don’t already know. I’d be above.”
What!?
Rosa was taken aback by Kamil’s unexpectedly casual response.
Could Kamil actually be a man who understands these things!? Is he really a top!?
The door Kamil was holding onto opened from the inside while Rosa just stood there, too disturbed to respond.
“You two… Stop dilly-dallying and get in here. Quickly. Take off your clothes and let me see your burns.”
Ladu was there, neatly dressed in his white robe.
Despite the harshness with which he had ignored Rosa earlier in the day… His attitude toward her had changed dramatically in the last couple of minutes.
He now gave the impression of a concerned older brother.
“Come on.”
Ladu encouraged them inside the room, but he soon furrowed his brows.
Kamil was standing at the doorway, peering carefully at the mortar, which astonished him.
“What is it? If you stand there, Rosa can’t enter…”
“I apologize.”
Kamil spoke up, interrupting Ladu, and then moved away abruptly.
He then shoved Rosa inside the room and shut the door behind her.
“Kyaaa!”
“Hey! Just what do you think you’re doing pushing her like that!”
Ladu shouted at Kamil, who had shoved Rosa inside.
On the other hand, Kamil maintained a soft smile as he said something to Ladu that was utterly devoid of context.
“It seems like you’ve already prepared the burn remedy. Unfortunately, due to your chronic laziness, you have run out of the herbs required for the remedy.”
“What?”
Ladu inquired, perplexed. Kamil then lifted his right hand.
“Praise The Lord for the wonderful light that flows through our blood. Break free of thy shackles, o subdued leaf in a bowl, and fly free!”
A warm light engulfed the mortar after Kamil’s brief chant.
Soon afterward, the brilliant light caused an unsightly transformation in the medicinal herbs kept in the mortar.
The ground herbs, which had been oozing a clear liquid, quickly regained their former shape, began to decompose, and released a putrid stench.
“What the…!”
Ladu’s eyes widened in astonishment, but Rosa, who also possessed healing abilities, recognized what Kamil had done.
Kamil had accelerated the healing and growth of the medicinal herbs, causing them to rot.
Rosa had a habit of doing the same thing. A rotting power brought about by healing.
However, Rosa couldn’t understand why Kamil had acted in such a way.
“Sir Kamil…?”
“You’re out of herbs. As a result of your debt to Lady Rosa, your feeble chivalrous spirit has inspired you to go out and harvest a new batch of herbs. All the way to Apt village, which boasts a wide variety of herbs. If you utilize the Travel Formation, which is only available to knights with a higher rank than a company commander, you’ll be able to complete the trip in under 30 minutes.”
Kamil’s remark was delivered in a monologue-like style, yet it was loud enough to be heard.
“Although the plot is a bit forced, we can always tweak the details later. After all, we don’t have much time.”
Kamil shrugged his shoulders and reached inside his chest for a cloth he laid out on the floor, indifferent to Rosa and Ladu’s reactions.
Intricate geometric patterns were interwoven with Berg’s ancient writing on the white cloth.
The cloth was termed a Travel Formation, and it was meant to aid those who didn’t have enough mana to teleport.
“Sir Kamil, just what are you…”
Something isn’t right.
Rosa’s dulled survival instincts finally started to raise the alarm, but it was too late.
“Isn’t it obvious? I’m getting rid of both of you because you know too much.”
Kamil dragged Ladu and Rosa into the Travel Formation with a faint smirk that betrayed his otherwise serene demeanor.
“Kyaaa!!!”
“Stop…!”
The wind drowned out even the cries as it whirled around the formation, and the three figures vanished from sight.
