Chapter 38 - I Was Lost

The night was laced with tranquility, moon shining brightly no longer behind the clouds, cool breeze pleasant to feel. Lucifer sat on the green grass of the Imperial sky's garden, Sera was sitting between his legs. They were facing each other.

Lucifer had a calm expression on his face, eyes gentle looking at Sera's face. He stroked her face lightly with his fingers before tucking the unruly hair behind her ears that had come undone during their intense fight.

Sera's hair were still tied in a bun, which has become quite loose now for some unknown reasons.. ahem! Yet the two roses were stuck tight to her hair.

Lucifer parted his lips slightly to speak when his phone buzzed, Lucifer shot an apologetic look at Sera, when the latter smiled nodding her head. Lucifer heaved a sigh, feeling relieved that she didn't get mad over something so small unlike other women. He glanced at the phone screen, Adrian calling.

Lucifer snuggled closer to Sera pulling her closer to him before answering the call, contrary to Sera's expectations. Feeling nervous Sera pulled away from him making Lucifer furrow his eyebrows clearly displeased by her reaction. Seeing his displeased face Sera took his hand in her small ones and pressed gently to reassure him.

Pleased by her actions Lucifer smiled at her, his tense expression relaxing.

"Hello, Boss! As expected, the assassins killed the duplicate. Looks like we have successfully fooled them", Adrian reported.

"It's too early to say anything, The man is very prude, he will not sit still knowing that I'm dead. I don't think he's easy to fool.. So just wait for my orders", seeing Sera's distressed expression Lucifer ended his phonecall. He smiled at Sera earning a frown from her.

"It's okay.. Don't worry I'm fine.. I'm not hurt, you checked yourself", Lucifer spoke every word clearly with patience.

Sera buried her head in his chest, and nodded weakly though her heart was uneasy.

"Somebody wants to kill him! How can anyone be so cruel!", Sera repeated in her head.

Lucifer got up, straightened himself, tidied his suit and helped Sera stand up. He held her hand and started walking towards the corridor.

Sera suddenly stopped walking making Lucifer furrow his eyebrows in confusion.

"At least tell me your name", Sera's tone had a hint of annoyance in it.

"Lucifer, It's Lucifer. Happy milady?", he answered laughing at her irritated expression.

"More than happy! I'm Seraphina Lu"

"Seraphina Lu", Lucifer repeated her name making Sera's heart flutter.

"You.. You can call me Sera if you want", Sera spoke softly.

Lucifer pulled his hand away when Sera tried to hold him making the latter displeased, he patted her head and spoke,

"I can't walk like this with you, I don't want any harm to come to you!", Sera nodded in understanding.

Lucifer went ahead with Sera following him. When Lucifer reached the corridor Ethan rushed towards him,

"Here you are, I was looking for you everywhere! It's done.. We've fooled him! Let's celebrate", Ethan was excited and replied with a foolish grin.

"Not too soon! Let's just observe them for a few days"

"Huh! Paranoid", Ethan hit his shoulder.

"It's called being careful", Lucifer replied while swatting his hands away.

These two handsome and manly men were bickering like 3 year old kids, when Sera heard their conversation. Sera was shocked to see Ethan behaving like this, they both looked very close. She was walking in a daze and dashed into Lucifer's broad shoulders.

When Ethan saw Sera he sighed, and asked her worriedly,

"Where were you Miss Lu? Your parents were looking for you, your friend has also left the gala", he spoke in one breathe.

"Uh.. I....", Sera stuttered, looking lost she glanced at Lucifer's smug face. Seeing him smirk at her, Sera was annoyed. Without thinking she pinched his arm. Lucifer looked at Sera's angry kitten like face and laughed softly.

"I was lost", Sera blurted. Ethan looked at her face, and thought something.

"Hmm, It's understandable why your parents were worried about you like a child! Because you get lost easily", Ethan teased her earning a glare from Sera. Lucifer was amused seeing her little face flare up with anger and embarrassment. He laughed at her making Sera pinch her again twice painfully than before. He choked while laughing, and started coughing.

"Ethan! It's not like that OK!", Sera nearly screamed in frustration. Ethan was stunned hearing her call his name with such confidence, he came back to earth when Lucifer started coughing.

"Anyway, It's good that you're fine. Here meet my best friend, Lucifer. Lucifer meet Miss Seraphina Lu", Ethan introduced them to each other.

" Miss Lu knows me too well", Lucifer spoke in a sluggish manner, and touched his lower lip with his finger.

Ethan saw his friend teasing Sera and felt a headache coming, nevertheless he still humored him,

"Oh? When?", Ethan asked feigning surprise.

Sera was nervous as hell, anticipating Lucifer's next move she was getting restless and blurted without thinking much,

"I was lost and he, he helped me"

"Oh!", Ethan looked at his friend.

"Yes! I was helping her so I got lost with her, I mean I got late", Lucifer replied when he saw Ethan's questioning gaze.

"Hmm.. It's good that nothing serious happened", This time Ethan looked at Lucifer.

"Yes, It went well THIS TIME!", Lucifer said emphasizing on the last two words.

Ethan clearly understood the meaning behind his words.
